There were 5 cars ahead of me, and it was 3pm

Even worse going inside to order.
We were poorly over Christmas so I went to the drive thru in my PJ's with a coat on, they were busy so they shut the drive thru, I couldn't go inside in my PJ's so drove home and got dressed, drove back, parked up and realised the drive thru was now open but I was already out of the car so went inside and waited 25 mins for my order, it seems the deliveroo orders take priority as they were coming and going collecting their orders.
Funny thing is I don't even really like McDonald's, I just couldn't be arsed to cook.

You should have ordered from Deliveroo. Or use the app, you get free stuff and some good offers.

YANBU. Once we got stuck in the drive through of the KFC at Solstice Park on the A303 for over 45 minutes. I was pregnant at the time and I genuinely don’t know how I didn’t wet myself, start sobbing or both.

I am proud to say I have never been to MacDonalds in my life.

And yet your shit still stinks like everyone else's...

Unleashthecrazy · 28/01/2024 18:52

I've recently complained to McDonald's for this reason however it's as I'm being asked to park up after waiting 10-20 minutes to order and then a further 20-30 minutes for the food to come out. The response is to throw a coupon at you and make no adjustments to avoid such a delay in future.
Seems like such a minor problem but when you're using drive through as you have a newborn and two disabled kids with you and they're being kept waiting that long it's stressful. It's just not worth it for us anymore.

catelynjane · 28/01/2024 18:53

I'm not doubting that bad things happen - there's no employer out there with a perfect record of behaviour against employees.

But they are also well known for paying good wages, employing young people (where many don't) and providing great training for their employees.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 28/01/2024 18:57

3 minutes per car isn't bad going no matter what.

itsgettingweird · 28/01/2024 19:02

I haven't been to MDs for 10 months.

Based on the fact I went to drive through and was only car in there.

Told to park up and order will be brought out.

It had no special requests so was off the shelf so to speak.

45 minutes I waited. 45 Angry

For a ducking chicken burger, chips and coke

Often quicker to order on the app, park up and collect inside. Or even order on the app, park up in a space with a 'click and serve' reference number on it and the staff will bring the food out to you. The key thing is the app lets you get in ahead of people waiting for the drive-in order point.

The click and serve is awful. We used it once and it took ages with the food being cold when given to us. We asked what was going on and they said with click and serve they get it ready as per normal orders and someone takes it out "when they get chance". We go quite often on a Sunday and watch the click and serve wait. Feel bad for them.

Ahsoka2001 · 28/01/2024 19:14

Please be kind and patient with staff, they are only human too and a lot of what makes the wait slow is beyond their control (e.g. time machines take to make food, policies their managers have told them that slow time down).

Given their record on healthy foods and labour rights I've got zero sympathy for you

Oh Here we Go

OP was not asking opinions on whether to dine at McDonalds or not!

LuluBlakey1 · 28/01/2024 19:23

Just words. No one was doing anything to stop it while it was happening. It's amazing what bad publicity does.

Go home and cook a wholesome meal!

It’s not off the shelf anymore though, it’s made to order. So when people used to ask for special requests so they got it made fresh, well you don’t need to do that anymore because everything is made when you order it. I didn’t realise this until my DS started working there.

I have to say they were good as an employer and pay way more than minimum wage, I appreciate that someone has shared a story suggesting that they aren’t good employers but they are also franchises don’t forget.

it always amazes me when I see the deliveroo/just eat drivers waiting and they get 1 order put it in their bag and wait for the next order - sometimes waiting for about 4 orders, peoples food must be freezing by the time they get it if they’re order number 1

firesareinteresting · 28/01/2024 19:32

Why would you even go there?!

C152 · 28/01/2024 19:32

I don't think 3min per customer is that bad, particularly as not everyone is quick/decisive when ordering and some of them may have taken longer to move off out of the queue than necessary.

catelynjane · 28/01/2024 19:37

Why does every fast food thread attract people who just have to come along and tell us how awful it is?

I don't get it - what are you all hoping to achieve?

joelmillersbackpack · 28/01/2024 19:39

I don’t go often but the last few times it’s taken ages because of online delivery orders. Like waiting 20 min plus after ordering, then the food is cold. They need some dark kitchens because it’s ruining their restaurants. In store or drive thru doesn’t seem to make a difference.

I don’t think the three minute thing really flies because the whole point of the drive thru process is that they are dealing with multiple customers at multiple points to speed things up.

Makes them feel superior.

DH makes sure all his housework is dome in front of me. It's a running joke that housework only counts if someone else sees it.

Same here. You can do good things, be vegetarian, care about labour, and the environment. But some people can only do that TO other people. They can't just be decent humans, they have to have non-decent people to do it in front of.

Ironically I really think these people would struggle if the world was as they want it. If everyone recycled and behaved themselves, they'd have to find something else to police. I suspect these are the same type of people who would report to the Stasi. But that's just a theory.
