Delivery driver entered garden

AIBU

We live in a detached house in very quiet neighbourhood. While we were out today, a delivery driver tried to deliver a parcel (not expensive) and decided to take it upon himself to enter our back garden and leave by the back door. I am furious. The parcel was not expensive, they’ve always left it at our front door or behind the bins which are at the front of the house by the gate. He would have had to open the gate. We don’t have CCTV so don’t know if he snooped or not.

I feel it’s trespassing and we should make a formal complaint. What if we had a dog that had bit him or had got out…? AIBU??

Do you have a lot of time on your hands?

😂

Deathbyfluffy · 27/01/2024 12:54

What a load of bollocks, get a grip

catelynjane · 27/01/2024 12:54

You're being ridiculous.

If you did have a dog, you shouldn't be leaving it unattended in the back garden while you're out anyway!

fjfkgt · 27/01/2024 12:55

You would hate our local Yodel man.

When I didn't answer the door (upstairs on a work call!) he literally opened the front door (!!) and put the package in the hallway. I thought that was outrageous but garden I think is helpful.

Could you lock the gate if you don't want that happening in future?

Toottooot · 27/01/2024 12:56

Wooptie fucking ping.

Topee · 27/01/2024 12:58

What a monster

UnctuousUnicorns · 27/01/2024 12:58

I mean, one simply cannot get the right calibre of servants staff these days, can one! 🙄

Alwaysalwayscold · 27/01/2024 13:00

Thanks for the laugh

Awful, awful specimen. Report him and hopefully he will lose his job. I can’t believe he walked through your gate uninvited. Makes me shudder to think of it

DarkDarkNight · 27/01/2024 13:02

wow, they were doing their job, would you seriously complain and risk getting someone into trouble when they successfully delivered your parcel? Terrible.

If you are that bothered don’t order things online unless you will be there when it is delivered, or provide a proper safe place. No doubt you would be equally as furious if your parcel had been left at the front door and was subsequently stolen or lost.

Toottooot · 27/01/2024 13:02

I get annoyed fan delivery drivers dinna leave things at the back door. Settle doon min.

Windymcwindyson · 27/01/2024 13:03

Maybe op has left her gimp mask on the sofa and the curtains open.

captaincalamari12 · 27/01/2024 13:03

You're crazy. Happens daily at our house. I'm greatful it's left out of sight

Tinkerbyebye · 27/01/2024 13:03
  1. They we’re doing you a favour, lots of parcels get taken, and he won’t knowif what’s in it costs a lot or not, it’s a nice thing he was doing
  2. why are you worrying about him snooping when you leave your gate unlocked? Probably lots of people have been shopping without you being aware
  3. you are well overreacting
  4. if you do complain if I was that driver in the future I would say I couldn’t deliver and make you wait for it
ilovesooty · 27/01/2024 13:07

I think you're being unreasonable. I ask for delivery to my back door.

What makes you think he has time to snoop ?

pigsDOfly · 27/01/2024 13:08

Delivery driver takes the time and effort to go into your garden and leave your parcel in a more secure place than outside your front door, and you're furious?

Just make sure you're home when you're expecting future deliveries, that way the poor man won't have to go out of his way to try to be helpful and thereby incur your wrath.

Delivery drivers are generally on a very tight schedule. I very much doubt he had the time, nor inclination, to 'snoop' in your garden.

Toottooot · 27/01/2024 13:09

Did you shake and cry with rage? Need someone to talk you down?

xyz111 · 27/01/2024 13:10

Oh my goodness 🤦🏻‍♀️the driver wouldn't have known what was in the parcel. Something worth £5 or £5000!!! He put it in the most secure place he could as you weren't in it to receive it. Lock your gate if you don't want anyone going in the garden!!!!

Anjea · 27/01/2024 13:16

Stop be

Wellhellooooodear · 27/01/2024 13:18

Get a grip. Why don't you calm down and take your imaginary dog for a walk.

Kwam31 · 27/01/2024 13:25

Delivery drivers are told not to leave on doorsteps and back door is an option for where to leave parcel

C00k · 27/01/2024 13:28

Anjea · 27/01/2024 13:16

Stop be

Couldn't have said it better myself

Zingy123 · 27/01/2024 13:29

Are you always such a drama queen? I'm a delivery driver and always try and leave parcels in a safe place.

I hope you're not the delivery driver who once left our parcel in the purple bin for glass, among a load of broken jars and bottles - and even proudly took a photo of it! I mean, I suppose that's pretty "safe" in a way, but really! 😕 😅

itsmyp4rty · 27/01/2024 15:49

I want to know what you're hiding in the garden? There's obviously something for you to be this horrified that a delivery driver might 'snoop' around in there.
