It’s not just sky news reporting this but for days now in the media this is being raised.

AIBU - to be extremely worried and concerned about this?

Is anyone else not worried?? Are we being prepared ready as “the higher up” know more and the threat is bigger than we’re told.

I think games like call fo duty are to blame. They give kids this false sense that they are invisible and a great soldier online so they will still have this belief in real life.

REALLY? Have you never met anyone who lived in the USSR? Have you know idea of the reality of living under another Soviet Union or is it just that you haven't the will to fight against injustice, and just hope someone else fights for you?

This will be unpopular but if called upon I would fight, i would rather myself go then my children. My husband was in the army for 10 years and he still has a few years left that IF he was needed they could call him back. Its all good and well people saying they wont fight and lambs to slaughter without training ect ect ect but we would be fighting for our freedom and OUR country l. WW2 happened within living memory , are you saying those brave men and women who fought and worked for our country where stupid to answer the call to arms when they where needed? Also national service would sort out alot of the riff raff that's rising up, gang culture, violence and the general lack of respect that the youth have today.

You should be more worried if we had stayed in the EU, which wanted control over a single European army controlled by Brussels. Right now, UK politicians are accountable to voters. Conscientous objectors are protected in UK law. Everyone should be worried by the world in general. But our politicians need the support of UK citizens to send people to fight - and to stay in power. They couldn't do anything if there was a mass strike or refusal. And no foreign country can order our citizens to be sent abroad or shot for cowardice. Aren't you happier now, that we're a small independent Sovereign island?

My husband is still a reserve in the British army. He would probably be 1 of the first called up, as apposed to civilians. He's not had any contact at all. I really wouldn't worry.

I wonder if they did do conscription and excluded women and children if they would also exclude those who identify as women.

It seems that conscription in other countries is for everyone, so that would eliminate that problem.

What I find most disturbing about those who are dismissal is that they fail to realise that the Ukraine is not some backward civilisation: this is a successful country whose export grain feeds the world. They were no more likely to be attacked by Russia than we are.

Were it not for the fact that their men took their families to safety and returned to the Ukraine to fight, no matter whether prepared or trained. That takes courage. It should also have alerted the world to the danger of complacency. Consider the grand scale: Russia has taken more and more of the Black Sea coast. Even though there are ports under the control of the Ukraine, Russia is in a position to stop exports of grain through to the Mediterranean. If Putin is allowed to continue, he will eventually control much of the Black Sea, and with his allies in Syria, Lebanon, and those Iranian backed terrorist groups Hamas/Hezbollah/Islamic Jihad and ISIL, not to mention the Taliban waiting, half the Med coast will be in his control too. Now that the Houthis - also in the pay of Iran - and blocking the Red Sea and attacking shipping, Putin doesn't even have to worry about attacking the Suez Canal, Russia and Iran are carving up world trade between them. Now that the Panama Canal is low in water, and Hamas fighters are already in Ecuador and Panama, the shipping through that canal will be difficult too.
When you consider that the shipping is prevented from using the Suez Canal and South Africa has declared for the Hamas fighters, there will not be a lot of safety around the Cape either.
That is what happens when the world is asleep and cannot believe that such things can happen.

Well, of course they were more likely to be attacked by Russia. They share a border with them.

They'll declare they are women right up to the point the enemy is marching down their street, they'll do the fastest 180 back to being a man. A. Because they don't want the advances from rampant troops and B. Because the enemy will make an example of them. They would probably be shot or hung in public. If this does ever happen, forget expecting your rights and freedoms continuing, they won't. You're now living in someone else's backyard, with their laws and rules!

Speak to the people in countries that the ussr took - my family came from one - the Russians killed millions - they give no fucks whether you fight or surrender- they will treat you as shit and fodder whatever you do.

The other side of the argument is your kids don't fight, no one else's kids fight. We get invaded and our kids now live out their lives in fear, under some oppressive regime. When the chips are down I for one will fight. Not for the king, or the government but for my family!
