Fitness influencers and little work out bras

How are they working out in these tiny little bras that seem to have become the fashion? I know some are small busted, but surely they still want some support and coverage?

Tuesday I was at the gym in a class and a lady was wearing one and had to skip the active parts of the class cause she was popping out.

It’s none of my business (before users remind me of this fact) but they just seem so impractical. I’m intrigued as to how people actually work out in them. I rolled out of bed and kept a crop top bra on that I’d slept in, under a gym top, thinking that would be ok for a body pump class, lo and behold my boobs were swinging for mountain climbers.

Fwiw, I work out in these bras with leggings or shorts. I don't ever take photos of myself and I don't put makeup on for the gym or anything. I work out hard - I'm not there to pose. I wear them because a) I want to be able to see my form and muscle when I'm working b) it makes me feel good to work out in nice kit. That's all. If I didn't feel they adequately supported me I wouldn't wear them - I don't go for the cleavagey ones that e.g. Gymshark sell, it's still a bra whose purpose is to support and contain not to display. I'm there to work out first and foremost.

I'm in my 40s and have two DC. I wear a 28E.

but I also don't believe that you started this thread because you genuinely hadn't ever noticed that not every woman in the world has your exact boobs rather than because you wanted people to join you in sniping about how impractically these people are dressing and how it must be sheer vanity.

bingo

so imagine Op is rather disappointed (of course this will e denied!)

Snowdogsmitten · 20/01/2024 17:27

I work out in a sports bra like the one in the left, and high waisted running tights. They’re flattering. And my boobs don’t fall out because it’s a sports bra. 😵‍💫

KThnxBye · 20/01/2024 17:28

I wear these to work out at home and with a vest over for running outside, but the vest is loose. Nothing falls out or is in danger of going anywhere when I bend.

I’m a 32E and have dc.

Crying into my protein shake with disappointment.

I have large breasts and while I prefer to work out with a top on I don't understand what the concern is? A bra that doesn't support me enough causes excessive bounce, I've never fallen out of a sports bra and I'm not sure how that could happen unless the bra doesn't fit at all.

LetMeOut2021 · 20/01/2024 17:30

Feel slightly disappointed that my boobs seem to be in the minority. I’ve always struggled with crop top type bras. I ordered an under armour one and a Nike one. To get the cup size I have to go too big with the band and then lose the support.

Never would i buy a sports bra with 'sexy' in the description 🤮

Mine come from Pour Moi, really supportive (although i am small of boob). Mind you i work out at home so noone sees me in them!

regenerate · 20/01/2024 17:31

this is my favourite

WhatsInStoreFor2024 · 20/01/2024 17:32

I'm 55 and have always worn them

Run marathons in them as well.

I don't get your 'concern'....if it works for others then so what?

I think you were looking to shame the influencers and nobody has joined in with you!
😂

If the band is too big then it's unusable as a sports bra. If you can't get one in your cupsize then one with a more open back can still function but won't be suitable for really high intensity workouts.

Could you send me a link?

You’ve already linked to the sort of tops we are talking about in your second post?

If you mean the ones I have, I like Sweaty Betty (preferably in the sales - they aren’t cheap!)

Sports Bras | Yoga Bras | Sweaty Betty

We've got a sports bra for every workout, from low impact support to high intensity training.

I know what you're talking about OP - on Instagram so many of the sports influencers wear really tiny bra tops and I sometimes wonder how secure or comfortable they could be. An example is emmadfitness

WhatsInStoreFor2024 · 20/01/2024 17:35

I also wear mine for work in a skin tone! They are versatile

LetMeOut2021 · 20/01/2024 17:37

Less concern, more intrigued. It looks as though I have wrongly assumed that all boobs behave and feel much like my own. If mine aren’t strapped down I find it a) quite painful and b) would feel they are popping out.

I am an avid runner too - although half not full marathons and I find it painful if I have any kind of movement.

Clearly not everyone’s boobs behave like my own.

Don't worry....I'm sure if they were not secure or comfortable y they would wear something that was..... just like you or I would

Yes - I was avoiding naming someone in particular but yes.

Not really, no. I hadn’t expected the spectrum to be quite so broad.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 20/01/2024 17:40

OP, S/M/L sizing mostly don’t work for me as my rib cage is relatively narrow - 32C. Try a sports top that has an adjustable band and adjustable shoulder straps.

I like Under Armour too. Something like this https://www.underarmour.co.uk/en-gb/p/sports_bras/womens_ua_infinity_mid_covered_sports_bra/1363353.html?dwvar_1363353_color=001

Yes - I was avoiding naming someone in particular but yes.

I don't know this woman, obviously, but she's got very developed pectorals and minimal fatty breast tissue, so she probably needs very little support.

WhatsInStoreFor2024 · 20/01/2024 17:42

Oh.... that's the kind I wear under my white work shirts ( prison uniform)

Work well for me. Feels like I'm committing some sort of crime!

I could wear a crop top for work or walking - not much support is required.
