To think there shouldn't be measles outbreaks?

fatandhappy47 · 20/01/2024 06:39

Surely we shouldn't be having an issue with measles?
Had an email from school (secondary) 'reminding' us to keep kids off with measles, which got me thinking

All my kids band my friends kids of the same age had their MMR (however my youngest did get measles before this)

So why is it an issue in secondary schools of all places? Are people just not vaccinating their kids?

Does anyone know, will my daughter be protected as she's had the vaccination even if another child at her preschool hasn't had it and catches measles?

I think like with all things the risk is much much smaller and a vaccinated child shouldn’t get as sick with it if they are still unlucky enough to contract it.

regenerate · 22/01/2024 14:21

particularly when truckers started to have bank accounts frozen

source? i missed that

regenerate · 22/01/2024 14:22

So if we have another pandemic, I’ll be refusing

how on earth can you be so sure when you have no idea of the severity causing any such pandemic

You're talking utter bollocks @CrispyFries

If you're actually interested in being educated (which I'm sure you're not) then P15/16 of this would be a good place to start https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/5e021b9140f0b6665e80187b/Greenbook_chapter_21_Measles_December_2019.pdf

sorry, which bit are you referring to as bollocks?

regenerate · 22/01/2024 14:32

@CrispyFries you say your view is based on your observations

how big is your sample size?

VisionsOfSplendour · 20/01/2024 07:34

That doesn't say croup

It most definitely does say croup. Read the whole thing not just the highlighted.

My own opinion is that the extremely high temps and seizures caused by some vaccines cause brain damage that goes on to be diagnosed as autism.

That bit

Peregrina · 22/01/2024 14:48

source? i missed that
Probably in the USA looking at the poster's name!

T1Dmama · 22/01/2024 14:55

As far as I’m concerned the risk from catching measles or mumps is far higher than from having the vaccine. If no one vaccinated lots of children would be dying from these diseases.

personally I think nurseries, preschools, schools etc should refuse to take unvaccinated children

regenerate · 22/01/2024 14:57

The Canadian government has warned that it will freeze the bank accounts and suspend the vehicle insurance of truckers who continue to form blockades in protest of vaccine mandates, as the country declares a national emergency to quell the resulting gridlock.

so a touch more than just when truckers started to have bank accounts frozen

Trudeau declares national emergency over Canadian trucker protests, allowing government to override civil rights

The far-reaching Emergencies Act gives the Canadian government the ability to prohibit public assembly and order evacuations.

@firef1y I had mumps too, I remember it being really painful.

Why is my opinion bollocks? Seizures are known side effects of high temps, and high temps are known side effects of many childhood vaccines. Seizures can also lead to brain damage. Signs and symptoms of brain damage are vastly varying as are signs and symptoms of autism.

your opinion is based on your “observations” … correct?

how big is your sample size and can you tell us more detail about your “observations” rather than just your conclusions

Vaccines aren't the only reason behind temperature spikes and seizures. DD had a seizure when her temperature spiked and stopped breathing. Fortunately the GP was with us at the time (back in the day when you could get a GP come to the house) and he called an ambulance. DD was blue lighted to hospital, and after a few days she recovered from whatever it was that had caused it.

Blaming everything wrong with your child on vaccines is ridiculous.

I have done no such thing.

@CrispyFries that article quotes traumatic brain injuries not vaccines.
The author is not a medical doctor anyway.

wearebewitched · 22/01/2024 15:53

Are you doctor Ronit Molko?

It points out the similarities between brain injury and autism. That’s all.

Do you realise that most people who do research and peer review papers are “researchers” and not medical doctors?

Lookingforunicorns · 22/01/2024 15:56

Which is medically completely irrelevant to a thread about vaccines @CrispyFries

Lookingforunicorns · 22/01/2024 15:59

@CrispyFries working for a university in a science capacity I am of course aware that some research is undertake by doctors with a medical degree and some without.
Paths into medical research are diverse.

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 22/01/2024 16:00

This, in large part, has to do with fear-mongering.

When I had my son 22 years ago, the fear of the MMR and autism was pretty rife at the time.

Also, as a GenX, we have seen both sides of the coin for the results of vaccinations.

I think younger parents haven't experienced the effects that no vaccination does, and they don't trust big pharma, who develop these vaccines for money.

I hope after these outbreaks, they understand the benefits of vaccinations.

regenerate · 22/01/2024 16:09

that is not what i’m asking

your opinion is “based on my observations”

How big is your sample size?
