To find David Lammy rude, obnoxious and uninformed?

I tuned into LBC the other day and David Lammy was on , discussing the unrest in the Red Sea region.

There was a caller on , Jack , who was trying to share his opinion but David Lammy continuously shouted over the caller, interrupting and heckling and was downright rude . Including him actually shouting "this is my show Jack, not yours !" , which I thought was absurd .

It made me wonder what the point is of letting the public call in if you are not interested in capturing diverse opinions and voices on discussion topics ?

If I spoke like that to a member of my team or any member of the public there would be serious concerns about my conduct.

AIBU to find David Lammy an arrogant tw*t for speaking to callers like this ? Is this the way that you would facilitate a discussion ?

I am ofcourse BU for listening to LBC in the first place but the car had been for valeting so I blame them for messing with the dials . Grin

He actually said, in a live interview, that cross sex hormones enable transwomen to grow a cervix.

He thinks men who say they are women can actually grow a cervix

Did he actually say that?

I do think the dinosaur thing was ill advised, but I don't for a minute think Lammy has some dastardly plan to eradicate women, as suggested by a pp.

Here’s the clip from LBC. Lammy understands that a cervix is something they ‘can have, following various procedures and hormone treatment and all the rest of it.’
He doesn’t think they have ovaries but sounds unsure.

Well, all the reasons I dislike him have already been mentioned a number of times. He's a dimbo, as well as a misogynist.

@Boomboom22 what’s your opinion on the current government and their record ?
What’s their record on women rights and gender ID, has the status of women improved under them. Labour haven’t been in power for 13 years, tories have and it’s their record we judge them on not what a predicted Labour government or minister will do.

I'm told that Boris Johnson knows what a woman is and how to treat them, and the current Prime Minister when asked what a woman is asnwered it was whatever Boris said it was.

stormy4319trevor · 21/01/2024 13:06

Lammy is tedious and rather thuggish in style. I could listen to Sangita for hours though, with her cut glass enunciation and polite but sharp questions.

He will seriously struggle as Secretary of State for foreign commonwealth and development if labour comes to power. He does not have the intellectual elasticity and big picture realpolitic needed to properly utilise the UK’s still significant soft power and diplomatic influence in the world. I’m not convinced he will strain every sinew to represent the UK’s interests at all times . Sadly ..

What soft power? The entire world is laughing at us - when they’re not regarding us with pity. I’ll take him as Foreign Secretary any time over the unelected failure we currently have.

IClaudine · 21/01/2024 13:13

Lammy understands that a cervix is something they ‘can have, following various procedures and hormone treatment and all the rest of it.’

So he didn't say men can grow a cervix. But is it not the case that trans women can have a neo vagina constructed surgically? Perhaps that is what what he meant?

I think a lot of politicians struggle to articulate themselves on trans issues because if they get it wrong, extremists from either side will come screaming at them.

Well having left the EU to take back control and make our own laws, it is important that we show we mean business by parachuting a failure into the legislature without election to be a senior minister.

I for one think it is great that we have amoung our legislature all manner of nobodies who have paid their way in including the son of a KGB spy, someone well known for taking public money to not make PPE and another who we aren't allowed to discuss whether she is Boris' daughter or lover.
But David Lammy...

The entire world is not laughing at us. What an arrogant thing to say. We aren't that important.

Cleverly also knows; women are the ones you sedate.

Only if it is your wife, because that's a bit of a giggle.

Presumably he was sacked for saying that?

Boomboom22 · 21/01/2024 13:39

@IClaudine no he thinks the drugs make you grow the entrance to the womb. He believes tw are actually now women who need smear tests. He really really doesn't get it. Perhaps he thinks tw are very close to being able to be pregnant. I don't believe he understands what a neovagina is.

Are those the same drugs the current government encourages us to use to sedate our wife to make her more compliant?

Boomboom22 · 21/01/2024 13:49

Think you misunderstood the joke, it's not to make her compliant it's to stop her realising how boring cleverly is so she doesn't leave 🤣 wrong butt there

You think drugging people is funny?

Boomboom22 · 21/01/2024 13:52

Although perhaps this does explain much of the lefts problems. Because they take things too seriously they treat tw as actual women and jokes as truth. Parallels.
It must make it quite tricky to distinguish fact from reality which we can see is an issue. Also explains why posters here draw equivalences, as if a joke about yourself, in poor taste yes, is the same as or worse than supporting male rapists in Prisons or sterilising autistic children so they never ever experience an orgasm when an adult. Very telling.

I didn't think anyone thought drugging your wife was funny, but I live and learn.

I really like David Lammy, as a presenter and a politician. I always enjoy listening to James O'Brian and find him very refreshing after thee hours of Nick Ferrari's right wing bigotry. I'm a great fan of Nick Abbott, and really miss Steve Allen.

But its OK to call women rights hoarding dinosaurs? For wanting single sex toilets?
I find lammy far far more dangerous than an ill considered obvious joke.
The actual safety of teenagers is important.

When did this all happen? In the last 14 years?

You aren't concerned by a senior government minister, indeed the minister responsible for law and order saying he thinks its amusing to drug his wife, using what is often used for date rape, but rather you find it amusing.

On the subject of single sex toilets, can you envisage any situations where it would be necessary for someone of the opposite sex to enter a toilet?

IClaudine · 21/01/2024 14:09

Lammy is not bloody dangerous.

As for the loo issue...trans women have been using women's loos for decades. It is nothing new. I am happy to share my loo with anyone who feels unsafe in the men's loo. (And no that doesn't mean I welcome predatory men, that is a separate issue).

Yes indeed, mostly when But Jeremy Corbyn was in charge and Labour dominated the House of Lords.
