I love soup and it's a staple in my home particularly in the winter. Today I made a thick root veg soup and we had it with crusty bread. It's just so quick and cheap to make and there are so many different options - thin, thick, meat, veg, spicy, creamy.............

Do you make/eat a lot of soup?
What are your favourites?

Our family staples are veg, minestrone, tomato, chicken and sweetcorn and leek and potato.

Can anyone please explain to me, if I do a roast chicken dinner, how do I make soup out of the carcass, odd bits of leftover meat, and leftover veg? (and left over roasties, do they go in? Leftover gravy?)

Ooh that's perfect thank you, I didn't realise it was so easy

I must be the odd one out. Soup all tastes the same to me. I can take or leave it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Soup season is upon us. Love making a big pan of soup on a Saturday and everyone just helping themselves . So filling and can be very nutritious.

Soup season is the one!
It's great to use up all the leftover bits but I often make too much and get bored

Yesterday I made spiced lentil carrot and roasted pepper! Delicious

What a coincidence!

Just put a big pot of soup on to cook, sit down to browse Mumsnet and this thread has popped back up.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 04/10/2024 14:29

@jelly79 have you tried freezing your left over soup? Then you have a ready made bowl of soup on hand for when you're short on time or ingredients, or not had certain flavour for a while.

I've currently got mushroom soup and tomato soup in the freezer which will be easy work lunches next week
