I get paid to help children go on imaginative adventures, say positive things and relax. Love my job!

I spend a lot of time preparing for my hour with my clients, printing out sheets of paper, reading books, checking references,, finding useful objects around the my house to illustrate my point, find useful video clips, check again and again that my preparation is correct.

But if the client and I spend an hour happily chatting instead, it's a much better use of the hour.

Today I put together some orders/instructions on how to take care of someone else’s country until the people who live there can take care of it themselves.

That sounds like my dream job. Do you work for the foreign office or in academia?

I speak to people about what they do/have done, how they do it, what process was used, if that process works as it should. I also check any evidence and write reports about it all.

The end product of the business is big bits of metal that people live in for up to 6 months at a time

Babyblackbear78 · 18/01/2024 07:43

I’ve spent my week showing people how to get a good deal with their mouth and how to pump someone’s chest. Also spent time talking to my pc and marking papers. Guess what I do….

Part 1 of my job: People write in asking for information, I get mad and write back either giving them said information or refusing to. Part 2: I say yes or no to where you’re allowed to do “that” with someone else’s information. Part 3: Attempt to guide a young whippersnapper to be just like me

You're the commercial building manager we lease our London office space from.

@alwaysmovingforwards I rarely laugh out loud, but loved your response

I'm enjoying this thread

but I'm struggling to write my job in a way that isn't outing because my company is the only 1 that does what we do in the UK and I am the only person who does my job!

It would be fairly easy to find me on LinkedIn 😂

(No, I'm not Rishi!)

I am really quiet jealous - I have a real love for sheeps - I with BBC2 would bring back Lambing Live - it was my favourite show - hats off to you - did you manage to get the third to another ewe or will it be a pet lamb (see I am an expert thanks to BBC2!).

We often do adopt one onto a ewe with a single it depends if there's one lambing at the same time but always end up with a pen of 'pet' lambs too.
It's always a bit more chaotic irl than on lambing live!
Once managed to successfully adopt a kid goat onto a ewe.

I get asked to tie shoelaces at least twice a day, I've been called "mam" many times over the years to the embarrassment & hilarity of the room, on particular days 30 minutes can seem like a lifetime, especially in this Baltic weather

Scorchio84 · 18/01/2024 16:09

as an aside I wish there was a "laughter" option without having to quote the response because some of these are hilarious

I take forms from students, then I take their money. Finally, I take unflattering photos of them.

My previous role:

I am a cheerless jobsworth with no sense of humour or common sense. When people ask me for help, I enjoy finding reasons to say “no”. I fill my days by completing tasks in the most convoluted and inefficient way possible, as this keeps me in a job. My colleagues and I spend our departmental budget on hare-brained initiatives, which we invent during our long boozy lunches down the pub.

University registry.

Previous role - more tricky. Passport office?! Benefits office?

About mine. Everyone here is much more highly qualified than me, but only a few people get paid anything by this establishment. Apart from myself, those people tend to be in their 20s.

I work in a chemotherapy factory.

I guessed chemo! But not factory, I thought you might work in a hospital pharmacy preparing the patients' doses.

I'll come a feed the pet lambs! (from a bottle obviously!) - what a lovely (hard I know) life to have.

I help people get more money, but it sometimes takes an inordinately long time for them to actually see any of it.

Today, one of those people got a 5-figure that they should have received in 4-weekly instalments starting around 2 years ago.
