Hoping to cheer myself up as had a crap week!

So I'll start...

This week so far I got called a fing c**t, had a chair thrown at me, had a book thrown at me and been spat at.

Any guesses what I do for a living?

I make poison to make you better...hopefully.

Disabilities nurse? Mental health nurse? Residential children's home support worker? PRU teacher/tutor?

Web Designer or Coder?

Prison officer? Teacher at a PRU? - amazing how interchangeable the work experiences are between those jobs

Yes that's me!

Small gems have a life of their own at times and whilst I remember that the piece I've just soldered will be hot, I never remember that the tweezers holding everything in place will be just as hot!

A man smacked me on my bum and screamed that he was going to stick his penis in my mouth and my vagina, spat at me, threw fistfuls of salt sachets at me, then abruptly screamed, ‘Happy new year!’. Another man told me he had two knives but they turned out to be plastic cutlery. I spent HOURS using a long winded crashing database referral system, dreaming of a more efficient process. Someone told me they will be leaving soon and it’s actually true. I had to walk through 6 locked doors across two floors just to print a document, that only half printed because the printer ran out of paper and the locker room where I store the emergency paper was inaccessible due to a broken door. I made someone a coffee whilst someone else screamed racist, sexiest, antisemitic, homophobic abuse. I spent the majority of my day listening to people and promising to bring specific art materials with me next week.

Today I explained to someone how to correctly design road markings. I also work to stop people having road collisions. Quite often people tell me I don't know what I'm doing and that they have a far better idea.

Pharmaceutical chemist.

Lawyer in a law firm.

Highway engineer.

This week I fielded questions about favourite colours and pets while I checked that my groups of clientele were holding equipment the correct side of their heads, and then repeatedly checked to make sure they knew which hand is their right hand, before getting them to wave fancy sticks around and tell the difference between dots on lines and spaces. I also spent time putting the equipment back together after they had dropped it on the floor.

@Xtraincome almost- a variety of secure psychiatric wards in NHS acute adult inpatient services. But I used to work in medium secure forensic psychiatric wards. Somehow I can’t imagine doing anything else.

I attended a location, gathered and sealed any obvious foreign objects. Examined for unusual markings, listened for 10 seconds. Had a rummage around the building for anything related to my job. Wrote a report on my findings.

Took samples for a sexual offence, arranged a transfer to a secure facility.
Lots of interactions with substance seeking behaviour.

Compiled a training package. Attended a meeting on recruitment and retention, another meeting on shared information.
Delivered a seminar on decomposition with a little bit of entomology thrown in.
