Anyone else see the BBC news report *MNHQ amending title to warn of graphic content*

BBC reported a trial of men who had cut off body parts of other men.

One gave consent to having his penis and testicles cut off. Another his nipple and yet another his leg.

AIBU to wonder who is standing next to you in a queue in the post office?

Iam glad mnhq has put a content warning on this as, despite what some have said about those of us requesting this being snowflakes, I would not have clicked on this thread if I had known it would be so graphic. And for those saying this sort of thing is all over the internet - it is easy to avoid because the headlines usually give an indication of what to expect. This thread didn’t do that and the content is upsetting and disturbing.

bombardelli · 15/01/2024 23:32

Yes it is a defence in those cases.

The campaign group, “We Can’t Consent to This”, with support from MPs from across the political spectrum, have lobbied the Government on what had been reported to be an increasingly successful use of a claim made by defendants that their victim had died or sustained serious injuries as a result of ‘rough sex gone wrong’. We Can’t Consent to This stated that 60 UK women have been killed by men who made such a claim which colloquially became known as the ‘rough sex defence’. In the last five years, the campaigners also claimed that this defence was successful in seven of the 17 killings of a woman which reached trial, with the man being found either not guilty or, much more frequently, being convicted of manslaughter.

This is not correct. Under UK law you cannot consent to something resulting in your injury or worse. The ‘rough sex gone wrong’ defence is about the intent of the perpetrator at the time, not the fact that the victim had given consent.

The older I get the more I realise men are fucking sickos.

Agree.

How does a person become a person who wants parts cut off

Maybe he thinks he's trans/ non-binary.

Just wow!

mondaytosunday · 16/01/2024 09:02

I once read 'if you can imagine it someone has already done it'.

MermaidEyes · 16/01/2024 09:04

After reading several articles this week the bit that stood out was after he had his leg cut off he apparently received £18,000 in benefits. Now that's just annoyed the absolute fuck out of me.

Gingerkittykat · 16/01/2024 09:08

Did you see the knife they used? It was a small knife that looked like a vegetable knife and didn't even look sharp!

I wonder how the guy with no penis pees now. I assume he must have had some kind of reconstructive surgery or is now permanently catheterised.

Careful, you'll get accused of benefits bashing.

TonTonMacoute · 16/01/2024 09:20

There was a case about 30 years ago involving a group of men doing the same thing. A friend represented one of them in court and found it really disturbing.

brainworms · 16/01/2024 09:21

Men are 1000000% the weirdest creatures on the planet.

Dibilnik · 16/01/2024 09:34

I think it's marvellous. As long as they're doing it to themselves/each other, they're not going to be chopping bits off me!

TinderTime · 16/01/2024 09:39

Seriously? Who complained about the title? Now it's a click bait title!!

Who isn't going to click on it and see what's it's about.

I just HAD to wander in and see what was so awful that had to be edited. Yes it is awful, and I'd already been in the thread and wandered off.

KimberleyClark · 16/01/2024 09:43

I thought the BBC was running a story that MNHQ had amended a thread title to warn of graphic content, and wondered why that was headline news.

ElsaMars · 16/01/2024 09:44

Genuine question - how/why is it done for a 'sexual thrill' when the man had his penis and testicles chopped off? For the enjoyment of others??

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 16/01/2024 09:45

Flickersy · 15/01/2024 22:41

If you haven't realised that many humans have a propensity for weird shit and many humans are also mentally unwell, you've been living a very charmed life.

While you’re right the problem is that these men can now find each other on the internet and their unusual predilections become normalised.

TempleOfBloom · 16/01/2024 09:46

AnImaginaryCat · 15/01/2024 23:24

Whose? The man who parts were removed? It's a pretty one off thrill if so.

How does a person become a person who wants parts cut off

All were doing it for sexual / fetish reasons.

The mutilated, the mutilators and the huge network of people watching it in the internet.

And it’s not just the 3 in court now. One of those convicted had also had his penis removed. There is a big group of them.

NettleTea · 16/01/2024 09:48

the group alluded to about 20 odd years ago went by the police name of 'operation Spanner'

and yes, eunuchs and watching castrations is aparently a growing niche. There was someone high up in the Trans policy making (someone from FWR will no doubt fill in the blanks) who has pushed to have eunuchs added under the umbrella. Which, given that the 'affirmation' surgery of young boys includes full castration, is a tad worrying

Lots of people pee without a penis.

Rangelife · 16/01/2024 10:04

@TempleOfBloom I am really glad that there is a cohort of Mumsnetters tracking this stuff. These escalatory situations is exactly why I got a worried gut feeling when I was working in Local Authority children and family services. When I raised the concerns about how these life changing decisions by children on my case load, facilitated by adults were potentially going to have awful impacts upstream in the life course and making these already vulnerable children (they all had underlying vulnerabilities, mostly to do with parenting capacity, it was a pattern) my colleagues thought I wasn't 'being kind or supportive'.

Poinsettiasarevile · 16/01/2024 10:05

One big part you are all missing here. These aren't just weird dudes hanging out in their basements. They are politically active, trying to have their fetish normalised and accepted. The ring leader was once high up in the Norwegian equivalent of Stonewall.

In 2018, The Norwegian Organization for Sexual and Gender Diversity (FRI) successfully lobbied the World Health Organization to officially depathologize fetishism, sadomasochism, and fetishistic transvestitism by removing them from the 11th revision of the International Classifications of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-11).
https://reduxx.info/londons-eunuch-maker-was-a-queer-activist-in-leading-gender-diversity-organization/

So now, according to the WHO this is not a mental health disorder, it is just all part of lifes rich tapestry, and if you don't accept that you are a big smelly bigot.

Oh and lets not forget, fetishes cluster. This dude wasn't just lopping bits off consenting adults, he was also done for child pornography.

Consent is not a defence” hugely bothers me as a legal viewpoint. It weakens what consent means. Consent means yes all good all ok, no consent means absolutely not. If you start saying consent is not really yes, then is no consent really no?

Floofydawg · 16/01/2024 10:15

No one is performing "affirmation surgery" on young boys, stop scaremongering.
