Is this too white for a wedding?

Additional info

It's for a nine year old

Dress code is smart casual and it's in Indonesia, if that makes a difference

This is not the 'main' wedding, this is a western wedding and is seen as secondary to the bride who is Indonesian

No bridesmaids or flower girls

What do you think?

I commend the OP too on her charity shop purchase

I think it looks lovely on your DD, and given that half of it is gold, definitely not too white.

And as a PP noted- a lovely swishy skirt. Fabulous.

Dita73 · 15/01/2024 19:31

No it’s grim

ScarletWitchM · 15/01/2024 19:40

not too white and personally I don’t think small children in white is an issue as it won’t upstage or mistake the bride

everygreensock · 15/01/2024 19:49

There is no way my 9 year old would wear that. It's like a large baby dress. No pretty at all. Sorry.

everygreensock · 15/01/2024 19:52

Sorry - just seen your second picture. The first one didn't do the dress any favours. Your DD looks lovely in it.

HausofHolbein · 15/01/2024 19:52

I swear some people utterly lack reading comprehension.

She looks lovely in it and no, it is not too white. Enjoy your trip!

No bridesmaids and I'm defo not miffed. Perhaps just a nice summer dress she can wear again then.

It is a nice dress. You could always take it, and if you find anything else in the meantime, take that as well and she can choose on the day.

It looks awful on the hanger but really lovely on her.

OP if you’re anticipating being sweaty, did you know you can get face anti perspirant? I can’t remember what it’s called, but I think it works.

gardenfoundry · 15/01/2024 20:40

I'd team it with some coloured shoes or any other accessories so it looks less bridesmaid-like (not that there are any!). Maybe a colourful handbag, too?

That first pic makes the dress look bad, but looks great on 😆

It looks great on her but like she's trying to be a flower girl / bridesmaid

nimski · 15/01/2024 22:26

I think it's lovely and totally fine

Well that's lucky, as nowhere has OP said that she wants your 9 year old to wear it - rather a pointless comment wasn't it.
