Holly Willoughby…on Dancing on ice.

For some reason I thought she wouldn’t be coming back, she seems a little different

These comments are quite tame compared to Twitter and the Daily Mail comment section since it was announced she was coming back

She is definitely not liked by many by the way those comments are going

Both of those forums are full of hate for everyone, particularly women. She shouldn't take it personally.

BobnLen · 14/01/2024 21:59

Being not liked by people on X and the DM is par for the course so nothing to see there.

NotForMeCheers · 14/01/2024 21:59

Hesgoodontheice · 14/01/2024 21:56

But why didn’t This morning mention her at all, they discussed DOI at length last week?

Email them and ask? 🤷‍♂️

lollipoprainbow · 14/01/2024 22:01

Didn't think she'd be able to stay out of the limelight for too long.

SouthLondonMum22 · 14/01/2024 22:01

Babymamamama · 14/01/2024 21:43

After everything she’s been through in her shoes I would take a step back focus on having a more private family life and let the husband be the main bread winner. Why doesn't the husband insist on that? For her own well-being. If he’s half way decent. Don’t know why but I’ve always had a bit of suspicion she is coerced I don’t know why though.

Why should her husband get to decide? It's Holly's decision, not his.

She's had a few months off and likely just wants to get back to doing what she enjoys and not letting what happened spoil that for her.

BagOfBollocks · 14/01/2024 22:03

lollipoprainbow · 14/01/2024 22:01

Didn't think she'd be able to stay out of the limelight for too long.

Why would she?

TV presenting is literally her job Confused

Would you prefer the man who threatened to kidnap and kill her kept her away from her career?

Didn't think she'd be able to stay out of the limelight for too long.

It’s her job, her career, she’s a tv presenter, why should she let some incel force her to give up her career and stay home?

Viviennemary · 14/01/2024 22:04

She gets on my nerves. I would be happy to see the back of her as far as being on TV is concerned. Let's have somebody new. Not the same boring folk.

lastchristmas80 · 14/01/2024 22:05

She’s like the cockroaches, no matter what happens - she always comes back.

Frasers · 14/01/2024 22:06

It's envy. Women's are socialised to believe other women are their competition and that more attractive women are worth more as people. Holly Willoughby is very attractive. We are not socialised to lift other women up, especially if we perceive them as better than us.

It's misogyny. Everything is women's fault. So it may have been phil schofield who did something inappropriate, but as the first rule of misogyny states it must be a woman's fault so Holly gets the kicking.

And it's also that there are just some nasty small minded people who can only feel good when they're having a go at someone else.

I don't watch dancing on ice or this morning but I'd have thought after what she went through, normal people would be sympathetic. But I foolishly forgot she was a woman in the public eye so actually only deserves ridicule about every aspect of her appearance, her personality and her life.

Shame on the misogynists.

Absolutely, I can’t believe some of the comments, her husband should have insisted she stay home, I mean good god is it the 1950s? Or she can’t stay out the limelight.

why should she be forced to give up her career, due to some incel.

and oh, yeah she left her agency, started her own, where she’s rhe only talent, and she only employs women.

shame on the women on here attacking her.

SpidersAreShitheads · 14/01/2024 22:10

I think HW showed her true colours first with the issue of lying about viewing the Queen’s coffin, and then over the whole Schofield business. I thought she was appallingly disrespectful to Schofield’s wife when the news first broke and she was happy to ride on his coat tails with her “gay best friend” - until it harmed her career when she dropped him like a stone.

She always seems nice on TV but there have been persistent rumours that she’s a hardheaded nasty individual when the cameras are off - and I think we all saw a glimpse of that.

No one deserves death threats - that was awful. I’m glad she is ok. But I’m not happy to see her back and I won’t watch anything with her in it. Can’t stand the now-obvious fakery.

She’s like the cockroaches, no matter what happens - she always comes back.

Because she's done nothing wrong.
Unless women present as victims they are hated. I don't watch anything she'd be on and never got the adoration for her and PS, but fair play to her for continuing in her career.

Anna8089 · 14/01/2024 22:12

Cant stand her. Thick as two planks and condescending. I don't actually know anyone who has said they like her.

You're actually comparing a career woman to a cockroach, because she's gone back to her career, as she doesn't want to let a crazed man who threatened to kidnap and kill her, ruin her whole life?

You need to take a very long look in a mirror if you can bear it.

PleaseSortItOutThanks · 14/01/2024 22:15

Surely the people on this thread who think she should've let this bloke win and ruin her career that she's worked so hard for, must be the same Mumsnetters who are too scared to answer their own front doors?

They think all women should be meek, mild and roll over and die because some lunatic wanted to kill her.

theconfidenceofwho · 14/01/2024 22:18

NeverGuessWho · 14/01/2024 20:05

I'm not overly keen on her, she used to grate on me on This Morning, but hats off to her! It takes courage to put yourself out there after what she's been through.

Choosing to work isn't necessarily her needing the limelight - she's just returning to work after a spell of absence. It just so happens that her job is TV presenting. Why be so judgy about a woman returning to work? What should she do, lock herself away because a mad crazed stalker plotted to kill her? 😏

I feel exactly the same!

Tiredalwaystired · 14/01/2024 22:19

What On earth am I reading here??!

Woman goes back to work after difficult personal issues and she’s in the wrong?

Mind you, I’m reading this at the same time as I’m seeing how popular Trump remains in the US so nothing should surprise me these days. The lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Thehamsterthatcametotea · 14/01/2024 22:24

Well she was smart enough to start her own agency, win a law suit against her old one, habe a successful career that she loves, become a multi millionaire in her own right,

if that’s thick in your book, I’d take it. Wonder what you’ve achieved,

TheSpruce · 14/01/2024 22:27

@Anna8089 sounds like you're projecting your own insecurities there. Maybe seek help and don't slate people you don't know?

She’s attractive, successful, wealthy, happily married, ,,so some people hate her for it.

its so sad in this day and age, women still attack other women like this.

BagOfBollocks · 14/01/2024 22:28

The lunatics have taken over the asylum.

And the misogynists have taken over this thread, or at least they're trying to!

IncompleteSenten · 14/01/2024 22:30

What has she actually done wrong? Why the negativity? What on earth are her supposed crimes here?

I've been on MN for around 13 years and sadly it's never been any different.

Yet so many posters insist men are mostly to blame.

If that's the case, it's certainly not apparent on MN.

1975wasthebest · 14/01/2024 22:31

I guess it was part of the ITV contract they had with Little Miss Wholesome to give her another show, after she left This Morning. Or she's got some dirt on someone high up at ITV.
