Drink wine in the bath that is? Watching a film and the main character just had a glass of red wine whilst having a bath.

I'm 50 and I think I gave it a go once maybe 20 years ago, decided that the combo of alcohol and a hot bath was terrible and have never done it since.

YANBU: of course no one does this other than in films, what a terrible idea

YABU: wine in the bath is one of the main joys in life, you're missing out you pleb

I just find it boring. Just sat in a tub of water. It’s not comfy to sit or lay and read a book. I don’t want to drop my phone in the water either. The water is hot for all of 2 minutes then it’s constantly topping it back up to warm it up. While just sitting in water in a tub 🤷🏻‍♀️ then I need a shower after anyway because it’s just human soup 😂

@KimberleyClark just googled those, they look amazing.

I always have a glass of wine in the bath. One of DH's many excellent points is that at the sound of the bath running he will appear in the bath room to deliver me a glass without me having to request it.

You've got a good egg

LenaLamont · 12/01/2024 17:51

A hot bath easing my arthritic joints, the bath shelf my Mum bought me with the wine glass holder, book/tablet stand, space for a scented candle. A favourite novel, a bit of Bach on in the background and DH bringing me either a cocktail or a glass of wine. I text him when I am getting out and he brings a warmed towel.

I do it maybe 6-8 times a year. The bath lasts a good couple of hours (hot tap topped up by my toes) and I feel gloriously relaxed.

ItcanbeDone · 12/01/2024 17:55

Pre-kids I would take a coffee and toast and really enjoy a soak, babies 1&2 came along, I forgot the toast, 3 & 4 came along, the coffee went, kids 5 & 6 (and soon to be 7 lol) came along and now I rub down with a hot flannel and slurp from a can of Monster and feel grateful!

SheFliesLikeABirdInTheSky · 12/01/2024 18:00

I agree. It's bullshit isn't it?

It's like in TV programmes/dramas/comedies etc, you have a family - with some at the breakfast table, and one of the family members is in a rush. They don't sit down, they just grab a slice of toast, shove it in their mouth, and then stick their jacket and backpack on - and swan out of the door with the slice of toast in their fizzog! 😆

No-one does that. NO-ONE! Grin

willWillSmithsmith · 12/01/2024 18:02

I did this in my twenties but then I’d also have chocolate and I remember once having a plate of sushi 😁

TeaToastIsAll · 12/01/2024 18:03

My goodness, dh's cooking dinner, massages, drinks without asking, warmed towels. It sounds like a mini spa break!!

Loveaholidayor2 · 12/01/2024 18:05

I love a glass of wine in the bath, great way to finish my work day! 15 minutes of peace.

Terrrence · 12/01/2024 18:08

Yuck, eating or drinking in the bath or anywhere else in the bathroom is minging.

teddycoat · 12/01/2024 18:10

No, I don't like it. The combo of wine and a hot bath makes my face go beetroot red, then I feel tired and listless and then terribly bored. It's not glamorous or relaxing to me, just makes me red, lethargic and dull.

I far prefer a long shower, then getting into clean PJs and drinking tea.

SpacePotato · 11/01/2024 20:04

I hate baths. Don't drink wine or have candles in the bathroom.

Much prefer a quick shower.

Me too. Hate them so much had mine removed for a lovely big shower then I can have a nice glass of wine when I get out🍷

ManchesterLu · 12/01/2024 18:11

It's good, but I can only enjoy a bath if I get the temperature PERFECT, and that doesn't happen as much as I'd like.

TeaToastIsAll · 12/01/2024 18:14

For the shower enthusiasts, a shower in the dark is a whole new experience (well not pitch black but some relaxing candles!)

peachgreen · 12/01/2024 18:17

Glass of wine in the bath listening to Rylan on Radio 2 ahead of Strictly is my Saturday evening starter (in winter that is). Doing Dry January at the mo so the wine is paused but it’s such a lovely way to chill out.

IAmAnIdiot123 · 12/01/2024 18:18

Hot bath, book and a diet coke in a wine glass to make it feel fancy.

bigdecisionstomake · 12/01/2024 18:18

This is my ideal way to spend an Autumn or Winter evening....

Lonejohny · 12/01/2024 18:18

Haha
I eat my breakfast in the bath with a cuppa coffee and scroll through emails / social media.

Then feel relaxed to start my day.

DillDanding · 12/01/2024 18:25

I’ll always have a drink when I’m in the bath. It might be a cup of tea, but my husband will often bring me up a glass of wine or a g&t.

Candle lit, book on my kindle and a drink - bliss.

Snap. And replacing SCD with a good murder / detective series in Jan (also minus the wine as currently doing Dry Jan but come Feb, this will be me).

Nevermindthepollocks · 12/01/2024 18:29

I don’t drink wine but I’m a huge fan of a long bath with some form of snacks and some water or lemonade.

TannedFrombirth · 12/01/2024 18:31

Couldn't think of anything worse. It's an accident waiting to happen especially with 3 DCs under 5.

SaltyGod · 12/01/2024 18:32

Wine and bath is a good combo. Tea and bath is even better!

greencatz · 12/01/2024 18:32

A mug of coffee and an episode of Blake's 7 on my iPad is the definition of relaxation

pollymere · 12/01/2024 18:36

I drink wine in the bath with a book...but white with ice for preference. I don't think I've done it much since having DC though 😂🤦‍♀️
