Drink wine in the bath that is? Watching a film and the main character just had a glass of red wine whilst having a bath.

I'm 50 and I think I gave it a go once maybe 20 years ago, decided that the combo of alcohol and a hot bath was terrible and have never done it since.

YANBU: of course no one does this other than in films, what a terrible idea

YABU: wine in the bath is one of the main joys in life, you're missing out you pleb

Serious question - People who have books/ ipads/ phones in the bath- how do you stop them getting wet?

LefthandRight · 12/01/2024 00:08

I tried it and genuinely nearly passed out, in fairness it was overly hot and I'd also smoked weed

Palindrone · 12/01/2024 00:09

I love wine but drinking it in a hot bath makes me feel dehydrated.

Or just get into bed surely?

Ah don't mind me. I can't see the appeal of baths. I can't wash my hair in the bath and I don't like strands of hair all over my body. I don't like sitting in water that is rapidly going tepid. I don't like sitting in water just waiting.....and waiting.... to get out.

I remember staying in a very naice hotel when I was pregnant with DC1. DH (kindly) booked a massage and for some unknown reason it was followed by a seaweed bath. I got into the bath, sat there for two minutes wondering WTF I was supposed to do and awkwardly eased myself out of the steep bath, wrapped myself in a towel and sat on a chair until I heard the knock on the door asking me was I ready to come out. I quickly splashed some water around with my hand and called out I was ready.

I have a few out of date 'spa treatment' days lying in an unused drawer.

Now give me an Indian head massage and I will happily relax for hours!!!!

Getting into bed just isn't the same! The heat really helps my poor back!

Nex · 12/01/2024 00:14

I have wine, snacks and a good podcast in the bath.

Paw2024 · 12/01/2024 00:22

This was the best bath I ever had
Milk bath with a head massage, then got out and got wrapped up in warm blankets and heated boot things and had a facial treatment
Floated out of there!

DP and I usually have a bath together every Friday night with a bottle of wine and a bowl of peanuts (plus candles and bubble bath) If the boiler hasn’t heated the water enough, we sometimes get through the bottle in 30 mins 😳🤣

I love my baths. And never have one without a glass of something Grin
Showers just dilute the booze Wink

Isometimeswonder · 12/01/2024 01:08

Baileys is good

Appleblum · 12/01/2024 01:46

Nope. I once went into an onsen after many cups of sake during dinner and nearly blacked out! Learnt my lesson since. Alcohol and hot baths do not mix.

LaurieStrode · 12/01/2024 02:20

I have champagne & a film in the bath every Sunday night. And sometimes in between.

A bottle of cold beer in the shower on a hot day isn't too hard to take.

Strugglingtodomybest · 12/01/2024 06:41

I have a bath every evening that I'm in at home. I rarely take a glass of wine in, because I don't want to drink that much wine, but I have done it on occasion.

Normally, I just read my book and munch on whatever's going, sometimes dinner if DH cooks while I'm in there, more likely to be crisps or a mince pie at this time of the year.

Not interested in a bath let alone all the accompanying rubbish.

As a pp said, why lie in a hard bath when you can be cozy and comfy in bed.

It helps my aching muscles after a hard days work, helps me warm up after being outside and i always sleeps so much better after a bath.

debbrianna · 12/01/2024 08:35

Wine in the bath? Yes! Often? Yes

That’s awful, the being let down that is. Did they apologise? What was the reason? Did them come to your wedding?

There were only two of them - it was literally supposed to be just a mid-week drink, at the Savoy. I wasn’t particularly bothered. One came to the wedding, the other found she had a subsequent engagement 😂.

peppermintcrisp · 12/01/2024 08:41

Wine makes me pee and I can't pee in the bath.

Why ever not? 🤣

By holding them carefully! Bath fully run before I get in. Small towel on the side so if I have to put a hand in I can dry it again.

But I'm lying pretty still in there, not creating waves. It is a risk of dropping so I try not to take my phone in usually.

My current book got a dunking post-bath. It was on the side and I knocked it in with my arse after I'd got out but before I'd pulled the plug. So vigilance is required for longer than the time one is actually immersed.

There’s too much mad polarity in your voting options. Sometimes it’s nice, if you’re in the mood for it, or you’re not on your own.

I have a really nifty over bath shelf thing that has a holder for a wine glass, phone and book. I don’t even need to hold the book/tablet.

stayathomer · 12/01/2024 09:13

Tried the book thing before too and unfortunately, not for me- whole time spent trying not to ruin book. Tried another time with kindle. Nope to that too!!

mydogisthebest · 12/01/2024 09:25

Well I hate baths - waste of water and time. Haven't had a bath for over 30 years. Showers are much much better

weathervane1 · 12/01/2024 09:31

I do that. I've made a wonderful wooden bath caddy with slots, holders etc for wine, a cup of tea, candles, soap, a razor and a tray for things like flannels etc. it has a lovely pivoting stand for a book, my kindle and a phone. I've even made them now for friends.

What is the opposite of LTB? How did you train him to do this and how can I get my DH to do it?

I think I love your husband! 🤣

Tell him another DH does it. Competitive husbanding. 😉

CookStrait · 12/01/2024 09:44

Only the dozy mares on TV who have a stalker decide to get in the bath & lie there just waiting to get murdered.
