Wanting to change DD2s name as no one else seems to likely

I hate posting this, DD2 is 8 weeks old, she’s perfect but I’m super sleep deprived so probably extra sensitive.
DD1 is 2 when she was born everyone complimented her name, and even know still do.
DD2 gets a mix of aw lovely to just down right to “oh like the fabric softener (more so over text than in person)” it’s making me really sad. Today we went out for lunch and the waitress asked their names told her and she went gosh that’s a gorgeous name in reference to DD1s but nothing about DD2s.
Im thinking we should just change it? I live her name and always imagined having a little girl with the name but wouldn’t want her to feel like her name is ugly or hate her name (I don’t like my name and get some annoying comments so wouldn’t want that). DH thinks I’m being silly and we live her name so that’s all that matters.
AIBU wanting to change it?
Her name is Leonora as I know people will be curious.

Leonora is a fab name, and so many choices of nickname - Leni, Leo, Nora - if we changed our babies names every time someone didn’t like it we’d be changing them every week!

Fluffmum · 10/01/2024 12:45

I thought you were going to say comfort. I like that name

I am 😄 and really enjoying it too!

Thought that's what it must be! I listened to the audio book last year.

timesaretight · 10/01/2024 17:00

The name is fine. I knew a Leonora, she didn't have problems with her name.

Clearly I cannot read after midnight.

😂

MaryDroppings · 10/01/2024 17:09

Have to admit I was expecting something like Fabreeze or Comfort.

Longdarkcloud · 10/01/2024 17:11

One of the problems might be unfamiliarity OP. Once people become accustomed to her name I can almost guarantee you’ll get compliments about it. It’s classic and elegant and of the same style as Annabel.
Another very popular name which was out of general use for decades is Eleanor (and Eleanora ) which is quite similar so you may find the name starts to become more popular.
If you feel ignoramouses might mention Lenor then enunciate the name to make the ‘o’ clear.
Keep calm and carry on!

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 10/01/2024 18:42

Leonora is lovely.

Don't change it.

Pinkychilla · 10/01/2024 18:48

I love her name OP it's lovely! And would not make that connection. If you love it keep it and enjoy your little one 😊

chopinwaltz26 · 10/01/2024 18:49

Leonora is a lovely name, I have a distant cousin, who is Lenor (I think that is the spelling, she is in Canada), I have never heard anyone equate it to a washing product.
I also know a Leonie and an Eleanor.

Southernoldchic · 11/01/2024 18:12

Leonora is a wonderful, elegant name. Please don't change it - you & hubby chose it from a place of love for your child.
One of my granddaughters was named Evie (from Evelyn) which everyone loved. Parents decided after 6 months it was too 'popular' (read common) & changed it to Eady which is not liked anywhere near as much .. It has been quite difficult to remember to call her by the second name as Evie was pretty & suited her & we still talk about it.
Also, if the child's birth certificate was registered with the first choice of name, the second choice will appear as a note on the bottom of certificate. Despite the law stating parents have a year to change the name, it doesn't change on the certificate!
Btw, I also have a lovely granddaughter called India, but have never associated her with any negatives from our history.

FindingNeverland28 · 13/01/2024 04:57

What a beautiful name. When you first wrote that people thought of a fabric softener, I immediately thought of Comfort.

FlipFlop1987 · 13/01/2024 11:10

I thought you were going to say it was Comfort 😂

I think it’s a great, unique name but not in a daft way. Some people’s brains work differently, when a relative named their daughter Lydia, someone said why would you name your child after an STD? Lydia and chlamydia other than rhyming are very different words!

Gizmosfurrybelly · 15/01/2024 18:27

Nope don’t change it, I think it’s beautiful
