Jigsaws - what sort of psychopath does a jigsaw

And doesn't start with the edges?

DH has started our new one and is randomly putting middle pieces together.

AIBU to LTB immediately and fill in the sectioning paperwork.

Removing the poll as there is obviously no-one sane who would vote against me.

Lightheated btw.

I've just started a new puzzle. Edges first for me!

MadCatLady27 · 05/01/2024 19:59

I find edges boring so pick out little scenes within the puzzle and the edges come as and when 😁

What sort of crazy person does a jigsaw with another person?!
It’s a solo activity, otherwise you get people messing with your system 😂

DH and I do them together!

MouseMinge · 05/01/2024 20:04

This has made me want to do a jigsaw but I have cats and so I can't. Or do those roll up things work? Please someone tell me that they do so I can do a jigsaw again for the first time in years.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 05/01/2024 20:05

There’s nothing else for it, you’re going to have to beat him to death with the box.

We’ll give you an alibi but I can’t believe there’s a judge in the land that would convict in the face of such horrific provocation.

MaryHinges · 05/01/2024 20:06

Deffo LTB. I'm more surprised you're still under the same roof debating it! GTFOOT!!

AutumnFroglets · 05/01/2024 20:08

Agree wholeheartedly with the above. I hope you have a patio.

RedRobyn2021 · 05/01/2024 20:09

I do it the way your husband does it cb with doing the edges first

And I've taught my 2yo to do it that way too 😂

Iwannerbeyourslave · 05/01/2024 19:37

What!? I assume everyone started with the edges. Like painting a wall...edges first, then fill it in. What a freak. Definitely LTB.

Fuck no!

What's this, painting by numbers? I like to let my creative genius soar, instead of being restrained by edges.

You and me both!

Nonomono · 05/01/2024 20:12

Your husband needs a therapist!

This is not normal behaviour!

I love a jigsaw but the last time I did one my niece helped and messed up my routine and that it the last time I ever do one with someone else.

C1N1C · 05/01/2024 20:13

Am I the only one who turns it over and puts all the green together???

Mirabai · 05/01/2024 20:14

Clearly you must start with the edges, however I hate doing them so I open a jigsaw and hope/expect people to come along and do the edges for me, then I get cracking. 👀

RedVanYellowVan · 05/01/2024 20:15

Not only is it the absolute rule to do edges first, but you HAVE to put the edge pieces in a separate bag afterwards to make the next time easier.

The only possible exception to the edges first rule is for some circular jigsaws where the edges need the middle to hold themselves together.

OP are you going to retrain your DP? Or just LTB?

Mirabai · 05/01/2024 20:16

Noseybear38 · 05/01/2024 20:08

Definitely start with the edges unless you are doing this puzzle

Is it 3D?

Absolutely not that’s cheating. Despite the fact I don’t do edges.

Thedogscollar · 05/01/2024 20:19

@Eeepsh I'm shaking and crying at your post.
Your husband must be stopped.
Edges first and always😉

Littlemisscapable · 05/01/2024 19:40

What's sort of person does a jigsaw full stop. They drive me completely mad. What is the point ??? And what do you do with them when you are finished ? And storing kids jigsaws without getting bits lost or mixed up. Arrrghhhhhh

I'm with you. I only clicked on the post because it said what sort of person does a jigsaw and I thought yes, my people! 😂

RafaistheKingofClay · 05/01/2024 20:21

YANBU. Hopefully with careful care he can be retrained.

AppleDumplings · 05/01/2024 20:21

@TheChosenTwo No! Send it over😂 You know there's a guide inside don't you?

TheWanderingWoman · 05/01/2024 20:22

LTB it's your only option at this point.

pilates · 05/01/2024 20:23

Yes ltb - edges always.

I have just stopped doing one with DH. He was getting very frustrated as there were pieces clearly missing. They somehow managed to get under the puzzle itself 😀

nocoolnamesleft · 05/01/2024 20:23

I have done many communal jigsaws: in bookshops, in libraries, on cruise ships. I can confirm that normal practice is to do the edges first. Strategies diverge after that, but always edges first. Anything else is...well...deviant behaviour,
