AIBU to be a bit annoyed by this?

I bought a pair of shoes in May that cost nearly £300 - I was very hesitant to buy them as they were expensive but they are very different and I had just got my bonus from work so treated myself.

I have just come across the same pair of shoes on Selfridges and the retailers website for £89! Not in the sale either - they are now £89 just at retail price?!

Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things and definitely not the end of the world... but I've just never seen that happen - if it was a sale price I'd understand more but it's not. I just find it a bit cheeky tbh! Moral of the story I guess is that no shoe is worth 100s of pounds 😂

Did you research them first?

What shoes are they?

Ducksinthebath · 05/01/2024 10:00

If they're "very different" then perhaps not to everyone's taste and they've had to be reduced. Shops can make reductions without it being a sale as such.

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 05/01/2024 11:18

They'll be old stock now and out of season

tomatoontoast · 05/01/2024 11:36

Are they those original choice shoes?

tomatoontoast · 05/01/2024 11:37

Irregular choice!

Haggisfish3 · 05/01/2024 11:38

It’s the season thing. You pay for the privilege of having them first!

This. It's basic price discrimination. You sell at wildly inflated prices to a few mugs who will pay through the nose and then bring it down to a price that a reasonable number of people will pay to profit from a different section of the market.

300 quid on a pair of shoes
They seen u coming a mile off for definate
More money then sense if u willing to pay that much for one pair of shoes you are hesitant about my word

Yellofello · 06/01/2024 19:04

Yeah you pay for what’s in season. Oh well! Can’t be changed now so you may as well enjoy your shoes xx

HunterHearstHelmsley · 06/01/2024 19:05

Let's see the shoes!

Loloj · 06/01/2024 20:22

Sounds like an initial pricing mistake tbh. I work in fashion retail and this price difference doesn’t make sense - unless it was drastically marked down. I’d contact the retailer and ask them to explain and request the difference back in the price. Are you sure it is exactly the same product?

JMSA · 06/01/2024 20:26

Irregular Choice shoes are absolutely hideous. Like something from a little girl's dressing-up box.

Alittlebitwary · 06/01/2024 22:44

Please show us the shoes!
It would really piss me off too - but nothing you can do, just enjoy them and get your wear out of them! X

mottytotty · 06/01/2024 22:54

That’s annoying.

plusjamais · 06/01/2024 22:57

Oh I'm a sucker for a nice pair of shoes, can we see a pic?

Deadringer · 06/01/2024 22:59

Is this them?

AIBU to be a bit annoyed by this?
OhNoOhNo · 06/01/2024 23:00

I was just annoyed that the £50 shoes I bought pre-Christmas are now £40 Blush

A £211 drop puts things in perspective.

But OP, maybe your size has sold out?

Don't buy them then - problem solved!

I have just bought trainers from the Size? sale for £40. Adidas are still asking £85 for them!

FlojoHoHoHo · 06/01/2024 23:04

As others are said it’ll be a season thing. The shoes are likely no longer in fashion. Are they docs?

BunniesRUs · 06/01/2024 23:22

Oh how annoying!

premiur · 06/01/2024 23:31

Where did you buy them?

TerrysNeapolitan · 06/01/2024 23:32

It will now be old stock.

ireallycantthinkofaname · 06/01/2024 23:33

I've done this but with a book - I paid £117 for a secondhand copy then I saw it on Preloved of all places for £30!

DeadbeatYoda · 07/01/2024 10:19

I'd be inclined to look first 'different' in last year's stock and save yourself a few quid. But, if you have money to burn, go for it. Enjoy wearing them.
