I bought a pair of shoes in May that cost nearly £300 - I was very hesitant to buy them as they were expensive but they are very different and I had just got my bonus from work so treated myself.

I have just come across the same pair of shoes on Selfridges and the retailers website for £89! Not in the sale either - they are now £89 just at retail price?!

Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things and definitely not the end of the world... but I've just never seen that happen - if it was a sale price I'd understand more but it's not. I just find it a bit cheeky tbh! Moral of the story I guess is that no shoe is worth 100s of pounds 😂

I agree with the others here. We need pictures or a link to the shoes.

I never buy anything without checking to see if I can get it cheaper elsewhere or secondhand, and it drives me nuts when I see something for less after I've bought it, but it's just the nature of shopping. I avoid buying stuff before Christmas unless it's heavily discounted already or I need it for a gift. A lot of things drop in price in January.

I bought my stepdaughter a toy she wanted for £65 once and then found it a few months later for £15, but no kid wants to wait until April for Santa so I guess that's just the way it goes.

There's a few reasons

  • difference in quality - yours might be leather, the cheaper ones may be synthetic (I've seen that happen a fair bit, I rather like shoe shopping)
  • the most popular sizes have sold out and remaining sizes are very small or large
  • stock didn't move as expected and they need to make space for new stock. They can't have sales every week, so they may have repriced to move on

YANBU. I would be miffed too. Worth double checking though cos some of those unique, not reduced pairs had 1 pair left in 1 size or UK3/UK8 only. They could be selling it cos limited left over stock /from last season?
