Ignoring the fact that he looks nowhere near 16 years old(!) but if he is 16, then why are the DM romanticising his relationship with a 21 year old woman?

Yes a 16 yr old with a 21 yr old partner is grim no matter how mature they look.

I hope he uses any winnings to book a personal trainer and maybe some cosmetic dentistry.

What is it with darts players that they look so bad. Fine it isn't a physical sport but you'd think that level of dedication and attention to detail would rub off on others areas of their lives.

This post criticising the physical appearance of Littler is far grimmer than any age gap relationship.

What an awful thing to post about a child! Give your head a wobble, you're a disgrace.

childrensward · 02/01/2024 10:21

When I was 16 I got with my now DH who was 25 at the time. I can't see anything wrong with this relationship. Just because it's not something you would do doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it.

Agustus · 02/01/2024 10:21

Stop calling a 16 year old young adult a child.

16 year olds aren't children. They can get married, join the armed forces, have sexual relationships, and have a degree of agency.

They're not bloody children!

MorrisZapp · 02/01/2024 10:25

It's embarrassing. 16 year olds aren't children, ffs I was in a ltr at that age, working and paying for all my own stuff. Left home at 18, never moved back.

She should be locked up. How long are they together? It’s disgusting.

Lol

'We define a child as anyone who has not yet reached their 18th birthday. This is in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and civil legislation in England and Wales. The fact that a child has reached 16 years of age, is living independently or is in further education, is a member of the armed forces, is in hospital or in custody in the secure estate, does not change their status or entitlements to services or protection.'

Yes I find this disturbing too.

Theinnocenteyeballsinthesky · 02/01/2024 10:27

I’m fully with Gary Anderson on this and the media circus surrounding LL atm “just leave him alone and let him play darts”

FluffyFanny · 02/01/2024 10:28

She's a darts player, he's a darts player. It's mainly a sport of middle aged men so they were probably two youngsters thrown together in that environment and struck up a relationship through their common interest and relatively closeness in age. She was hardly hanging round the school playground looking for young victims.

Ohtobetwentytwo · 02/01/2024 10:29

They seem sweet together. Hes probably a bit mature and shes probably a young 21. They both like darts so probably spend time together that way.

It's more problematic that the paper feels the need to promote pictures of his half naked sister and have a full "article" about her

Youregoingthewrongway · 02/01/2024 10:32

He’s obviously a very mature almost 17 yr old. He looks older and is competing at an adult level. He’s hardly your regular 17yr old school boy. She’s only 21, young looking and very pretty. And also plays the same sport so they gave a common interest. It’s understandable why they like each other. There really is no issue.

FluffyFanny · 02/01/2024 10:32

The age of consent is 16, he's 16- nearly 17. We can't start now policing age gaps of around 4 years and accusing 21 year olds of being paedophiles for having a slightly younger boyfriend/girlfriend. I bet their both having a great time together!

FluffyFanny · 02/01/2024 10:33

they're

Picklemeyellow · 02/01/2024 10:34

You have to judge these things on the individual surely?

My dd is 16 in a few months, she is young looking and quite immature, no way would I want her dating a 20/21 year old.

However, ds is 18 and although quite young looking still, he has always been very sensible and mature for his age so I wouldn’t see it as such an issue, not because he’s male but down to his maturity and better life judgements than dd.

They are not adults either though, its a funny age
Being in a relationship st 16 is one thing ,being in a relationship with someone five years older is entirely different
Leaving home at 18 is very different to leaving home at 16
My 17 year old was very ill last February when he was 16 and was put on adult ICU,but he was treated differently because he was only 16 and I was allowed to stay with him overnight for he first few nights because of his age and him not being an adult

Would you say that about a 'mature' looking girl who looked older than 16. No I'd hope not.

Doesn't really matter how developed kids are their age is the point, not their looks.

ManchesterLu · 02/01/2024 10:35

YourNameGoesHere · 02/01/2024 09:31

I agree it's a massive gap at that age and I just honestly cant see what a 21 year old women and a 16 year old lad would have in common, they are two totally different stages of life.

Different stages of life? Not sure. He's in a very adult environment.
Other people have talked about the power difference - I'd say he was in a much more powerful position. He has fame, he has talent, and now he has money. Enough money to buy a house, outright, at the age of 16, if he wants to.

You don't know what their relationship is like. You don't know what either of them are like emotionally or whatever.

I've been in some absolutely shit relationships with people the same age who've abused me. I've been in some wonderful relationships with an age difference. It's not that bad. It's a few years. In a couple of years time nobody will even care.

Err, that's the definition by the Youth Justice Board, which for obvious reasons is not keen to see 16 & 17 years olds locked up and treated the same as fully adult offenders.

16 year olds, are not fully adult, and consequently don't share the same rights and privileges as over 18s, but are not considered to be children by any stretch.

And if you're using the YJB as a yardstick they are concerned with offenders aged 21 and under, which places the two young people in question in the same peer group...

Because he will.then be an adult with right now he isn't
Age gap relationship, s are one thing when its two mature adults having them quite another when its a 16 year old and 21 year old ,regardless of their Sex.

VanityDiesHard · 02/01/2024 10:39

Simonjt · 02/01/2024 08:59

It’s completely innapropriate, unfortunately a lot of people in the public eye as children receive innapropriate sexual advances from adults. He certainly isn’t the first boy to have this, Finn Wolfhard had women in their twenties and thirties being sexually innapropriate when he was 15, Kit Connor had women posting on here what they would like to do to his childs body.

No 21 year old should ever be dating or hooking up with a 16 year old child. Sadly some people who think adults dating children is normal will attempt to justify it by saying he looks older, just as some men will justify assaulting children by saying she was wearing makeup or dressed older.

Grown women thirsting over Finn Wolfhard is utterly grim. He was a little boy when Stranger Things started, how someone in their thirties could sexualise him is anyone's guess.

FluffyFanny · 02/01/2024 10:40
