I can't stare at another shelf staring at shampoo

Posting for traffic because I'm going crazy.

The shampoo I use is super cheap currently, generic own-brand supermarket anti-dandruff shampoo but my hair is not doing good right now.

For A MONTH I keep trying to change my shampoo. I get so overwhelmed with researching it because you get SO MANY conflicting answers (and just so many answers anyway).
I'm constantly going to Boots and just staring at the shelf trying to decide which and end up walking out in stress.

I've bought the Mielle shampoo (TikTok hype), but now I keep reading stuff online that it's made people's hair fall out!!!

Anyway, I am obviously being unreasonable getting stressed about shampoo, but can I please ask personal (non-commissioned) recommendations? My hair is all natural, slightly oily, more on the thick side, not colour/heat damaged but just lifeless and slightly thinning.

Another vote for T-Gel 2 in 1. My daughter had greasy, dandruff prone hair. This sorted her out in one wash and it smells beautiful. I found it cheaper on Amazon than in the shops.

I just use any supermarket on brand for coloured hair. Apparently anti dandruff shampoos can strip healthy hair? C

I think vitamins help plus i put a bit of rosemary oil in my shampoo...seems to make it thicker.

It's the purple one, isn't it?

Thank you! At least I know which one not to buy here! I don't want her becoming the Pied Piper of Spiderland.

@ivor

I sympathize because I have fine, thin hair with a flakey (at times) scalp. It seems coloring my hair doesn't last because I need to use anti-flake shampoo so often.
It also seems to be falling out quicker than it ever did, though it was always fine and thin, even as a child/teen/young adult.

I hope you can find a shampoo that will help you get the hair you want without totally breaking the bank. 🍀

I've a lot of problems with my hair. I had what looked like cradle cap on my scalp. My scalp was really dry too and very painful. At times I couldn't even brush or comb my hair. My GP referred me to dermatology but while I was waiting for my appointment I talked to the pharmacist and she suggested tgel. It did help a bit but a hairdresser recommended Nioxin. I bought it on line and after using it 3 times my scalp was so much cleaner looking and slightly less painful. I still use it now and again to keep my scalp clear.
The next thing I tried was Viviscal shampoo and conditioner. It was great my scalp felt a little uncomfortable rather than painful. My hair looks a lot healthier when I use it.
Ginger shampoo bars are OK too.

My hair is thick/ curly/ on the dryer side. I find Aussie shampoos best, particularly the 3 minute miracle reconstructor conditioners.

I literally started using this this fortnight (thank you, Reject Shop - which is where I get toiletries these days because you only have a choice of about three options and I can’t deal with the supermarket/chemist overwhelm!) and it’s worked wonders! My hair sounds completely different to yours, but it’s still done more for my hair in two weeks than months of a million billion other lotions and potions!!

@LovePoppy yes they ruined Scalp Benefits! It went from one of the few shampoos that didnt make my scalp sore to being just as bad as all the others, the betrayal! Thank god sap moss works for me, pain in the ass to rinse out though.

If you have an itchy scalp, you may be allergic to sulphates. I suffered for years without realising. I now use Pureology shampoo which is sulphate free. It's worth spending a bit extra to buy something decent. I also swear by NAK, which is Australian and also sulphate free. Their Structure Complex No 3 treatment is awesome. Don't need to worry about greasy roots (conditioner) or leaving it on for ages, just comb it through, shave your legs and then rinse off. Keeps my heat abused and colour treated hair smooth and shiny.

Haven’t used this for ages but it is good for damaged hair. Often on sale in TK Maxx too.
