To ask if you think I’ve just been scammed?

I think I have and I feel sooo stupid.

I followed an Instagram as for the Space Nk 2023 advent calendar advertised as now being 45.99. Website looked like the Space NK website. I ordered and paid.

My receipt to my email said the payment would appear as to ‘leggingsoutlet’ svuch seemed very odd. I checked the website again and it’s Soace NK outlet not actual Space NK.

I’ve been scammed haven’t I?

Came up on mine as well as an advert. I was only interested in looking at the specific products in the pack so went to the actual website from google myself rather than the link.

It looked genuine.

I did exactly the same this morning and almost immediately realised I’d been scammed, I also feel like a total idiot.

Contacted my bank and cancelled my debit card. They’ll raise a dispute if it hasn’t arrived in 30 days which we both know it won’t. Just glad I didn’t carry on filling my basket!

Hi, sorry about this. I actually saw this post because the first thing I did when seeing the ad on Facebook, was Google "Space NK advent calendar scam" just in case! I got had a couple of years ago and ever since I don't trust any advert on Facebook or Instagram. Go to the source. Hope you get your money back.

Same here. Just been scammed by the same people. Bastards. Cancelled my card and contacted the bank. Transaction already gone through but cancelled the card. Will try to get money bank through my bank now but it is not that straightforward

You just saved me from losing £300 thinking Christmas bargins for next year. Thank you. Although I’ll be gutted if your stuff comes through and I’ve been too cautious. I guess these days - never too cautious

I’ve just done exactly the same thing and ordered the calendar and then felt really nervous. I phoned my bank and they said to wait 30 days to see if I was sent anything if I wasn’t then I could get the money back I haven’t canceled my card, but feeling a bit nervous about not canceling it.

Cancel the card

theee places data mine. Don’t worry about the payment right now. But cancel the card and change your email passwords etc too

Exact same thing happened to me RE ‘leggings outlet’ (though I thought it was Office Shoes). First time it’s ever happened but can’t talk to my bank till they resend me a telephone banking code in the post 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

We should ask MNHQ for a Scamwatch topic, then people could check it before using questionable websites.

I did this with an IG ad for some shoes that never arrived, requested a chargeback on my card from the bank but didn’t need to cancel it. I am normally careful so don’t know what I was thinking, luckily was only £30 and got the money back.

I fell for it too. Called my credit card company and they said to call back once the money has been taken and they can refund it. Hopefully that will actually happen. Feel so stupid.

I was also scammed by this realised fairly quickly and Monzo refunded me straightaway, I think they knew it was a scammed and hadn't actually made the payment it was just pending

So many people must of fallen for this and I bet many don’t yet realise.

so they didn’t tell you to cancel your card? I was really surprised that my bank didn’t recommend that I cancel it straight away. They said that normally it’s just a one off payment they take, but I am still a bit nervous.!

Can I ask how you got the refund by Monzo? I fell for the same and disputed it but would love a quicker response!!! So stressed

Lloyds told me they would not refund a pending transaction until 30 days were up and I had either not got the calendar or been sent something different

Just wondering who would pay £45 let alone £235 for that pile of crap!!

I’ve just done the same for daughters 21st next month! Can’t believe it, I spend so long telling my mum not to order stuff off Facebook then I do the same! Very good copy site, it even had pictures of the actual spaceNK store at the bottom of the website! I realised as soon as I had paid and saw leggings outlet, rang the bank instantly and I have to wait 15 days even though my payment is still pending. She said I didn’t need to cancel my card but I have just incase!

Actually Monzo have just contacted me to say the company (scammers) have refunded me the money so they are closing the dispute, I feel that sounds like another scam in itself I have cancelled my card

That’s exactly what my bank, First Direct, said. As much as it’s a hassle getting a new card I don’t dare risk it. I asked what’s to stop them spending on my card and they said nothing but it’s unlikely. Unlikely isn’t good enough for me.
