To be angry with DH and his greediness

Every year this happens, DH loves food, DH eats lots and lots of food. He eats a huge Christmas dinner then keeps going to the fridge and eating the leftovers. Yesterday we had a buffet, he ate loads yesterday too, today he ate buffet leftovers and cooked up all the leftovers I hadn’t cooked. He’s now farting like mad and complaining he had a sore stomach. Next he’ll be complaining he’s put on weight and we will have the saga of him losing it again.

To be fair he is built like an athlete, runs and gyms most days so he can eat loads. But he has zero willpower over food, he eats really fast, so gulps down air then farts loads. He gets greedy so if they’re a tub of Pringles he wants to eat them all. I told him to go take some Deflatine and he says he can’t be bothered so I’m kind of glad he had a sore stomach.

I’ve also just started my period so I’m going to have cramps tomorrow so I am angry for no reason and if he farts on the night and annoys me I’m going to kick him to sleep on the sofas because right now I hate him.

they aren't though - because the tone of the post was that a family arived home to find no breakfast food (that 2 of them aren't bothered about) in and instead of "i'll pop to the shops for a loaf and some bacon" the DH complained.

Knowing how many DHs are described here, it is not beyond the bounds of possibilty that the DH fully expected the poster to rustle up a Ye Olde Fulle Englishe Breakfaste

Weenurse · 28/12/2023 11:08

Everyone farts around 14 times a day, it is a natural physiological thing.
IT IS OK TO FART
Over eating is another thing

You love him? 🥺 farts so badly that you are woken up and you're currently in the kids' bedroom.

No. He sounds awful.

@Selenitetower

yeah it doesn’t sound very attractive

So he looks after himself with exercise and he can also let his hair down. Go easy on him!

But he is a man who farts. So intrinsically a vile creature.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 28/12/2023 11:10

Since you are in a mood to be critical yourself, it's losing and not loosing.

@TravelInHope

farting loads cos you’ve pigged out loads is really unattractive yes.

Spirallingdownwards · 28/12/2023 11:11

So he overindulgence at Christmas and has a wind problem. Whilst I sympathise with being on the end of the wind problem if DH is otherwise athletic and loses his Christnas weight I don't really see the problem. If anything it sounds like most people at Christmas who then go back to their normal eating regime in the NY when the treats are gone.

It isn’t every night, certain foods definitely set him off I suspect he’s either gluten intolerant or celiac like his father but won’t go through the testing 🙄 but when he pigs out on foods I know it’s going to be a long night if I don’t have my own space. But if I had it my way we’d have our own rooms and beds I got very accustomed to sleeping by myself when I was working night shift, now that I’m back to day shifts and we share a bed I notice things that I never used to such as his snoring and farting 😅

Well that poster didn't actually say her DH was expecting her to get breakfast items, just that he wanted toast! Assuming he's happy to go & get it, that's fine.

If you're enjoying mince pies & brandy butter that's fine but it's not a common breakfast food!

I wasn't saying he was wrong for wanting toast/normal breakfast items. It was that he was "moaning" about it which implied he thought it was the poster's fault to rectify rather than he was "happy to go and get it". Want bread, get off your arse and go and buy some - moaning at someone else doesn't make it magically appear.

I know my mince pie breakfast would not appeal to many. I don't usually eat breakfast at all. I'm just enjoying the Twixtmas "all rules are suspended" feeling!

Doesn't sound to me like he has a wind problem, sounds like he ate so much food he made his stomach hurt and got gassy. Just overindulgence. Don't make out it's a condition he can't help.

LOL at "foodie" comment above, that is not what a foodie is.

CatWoman12345 · 28/12/2023 11:19

Another fantastic day for the single woman 🙏

LuckySantangelo35 · 28/12/2023 11:21

You should leave the room if you need to fart and go to the bathroom. End of.

I just had this ‘discussion’ with DH about breakfast. He’s moaning that we have nothing in (only got back from seeing relatives late last night). I said I’ll make a curry at lunchtime and there are plenty of snack things that we bought home with us. But apparently he has to have breakfast and it has to be a typical breakfast thing, like toast. A mince pie will not do. He’s eaten enough to feed a small country in the last few days but is acting like me and DS are wierd because we are skipping breakfast!

Just laugh and say « shops that way love ».

I wouldn’t entertain any whinging- he isn’t a teenager!

I meant inasmuch as he caused his own wind problem rather than it being a medical condition. But still think overindulgence at Christmas is still a fairly general occurrence for the majority over Christmas.

DyslexicPoster · 28/12/2023 11:25

He sounds like my 19 year son minus the farting. He eats around 4000-8000 calories a day. Any left overs he eats. Any ingredients for family meals He eats. He is just undrr 8 stone and God knows what's up with him. He recently ate loads as per normal. Went out boozing, had McDonald's, his two mates McDonald's then came home and ate two entire Greggs to good to go bags. Donuts, pastry, baguettes, 4 festive slices.

Friend suggested he has a eating disorder but it looklike he might have a thyroid issue. But it's a lack of self control and disregard for the rest of us who also need to eat.

Youremylobster87 · 28/12/2023 11:25

Wouldn't bother me whatsoever if it's just for the Christmas period, I think you should give him a break to be honest.

toomanyleggings · 28/12/2023 11:28

Bottom line is you’ve gone off him. This stuff would barely register if you liked him. Most people over eat this time of year.

bonzaitree · 28/12/2023 11:29

Surely the poor man can eat what he wants to. It’s Xmas ffs. Tis the season to indulge.

Flip side is you can ignore his comments and complaints about having a sore stomach. I wouldn’t give them any airtime!

Milkybarsareonmeeeee · 28/12/2023 11:30

CurlewKate · 28/12/2023 10:59

He can eat what he wants. What he can't do is fart in front of you. He can go to the bathroom like a civilised human being.

Totaly! This is what gets me why do people think it’s ok to walk around or lay around a room and put this on others . Disgusting.

Goodness me, your bathroom must smell rancid. Do you really pass wind indoors? Yuk. The considerate thing to do is leave the house and go to an isolated spot in the countryside if you want to do that sort of thing. Make sure you don't choose somewhere that is 'very rural' or 'semi rural' as these areas are populated by MNers.

Tinseltomato · 28/12/2023 11:33

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 28/12/2023 10:40

Expecting to have breakfast is hardly unreasonable. I wouldn't eat a mince pie for breakfast either!

I know! He can go and get supplies himself. But the notion that he's a massive glutton for wanting breakfast is a bit much.

Wife2b · 28/12/2023 11:34

Yawn, it’s Christmas, give him a break. Nothing wrong with indulgence over the holidays. Ask him to fart elsewhere 🤷‍♀️

ilovesushi · 28/12/2023 11:34

The farting would annoy me but even more annoying is the polishing off of leftovers particularly if you were planning a meal out of them.

a222 · 28/12/2023 11:35

my bf has been farting like mad. boozy ones that really smell 😭 he actually woke me up from my midday boxing day nap with one the other day.

christ, we are all suffering it seems 😂
