Just that, how many of you know your husbands/partners passcode for their phone?

Gcsunnyside23 · 27/12/2023 23:10

Yeah it's the same as mine and the code we use for everything 🙈 I think we probably know each others passwords for most things too as we ask the other log in to things for this and that

KimberleyClark · 27/12/2023 23:13

I know his. It’s the same as our burglar alarm code. He knows mine too.

Summerbay23 · 27/12/2023 23:15

Yes, it’s not a big deal here, we’ve been married forever and share bank accounts, mostly don’t care remotely what we’re doing on our phones (me here, him looking at sport probably). Each to their own but it’s not a problem here. Can’t remember the last time I needed to look (probably when asked to by him when driving).

What about you?

Faceache45 · 27/12/2023 23:16

I'm not interested TBH. I wouls never look at this phone. I honestly don't care. My friend shaged a random in an alleyway. In 3 minutes she ended her marriage and life as she knew it. It was done in a drunken moment. I just reckon shit can happen in seconds. I'm not going to worry myself over it unless I have to.

PlayMeOurSongOnGuitar · 27/12/2023 23:17

I knew what it was, don’t know if he’s ever changed it. He knows mine is a date of something but he probably doesn’t know the date as it’s not a birthday or anything like that.

DappledThings · 27/12/2023 23:18

Yeah, we have the same code.

Quite often use each other's phones if one is nearer or DC are using one of them or one of us is driving and it's the driver's phone linked up to the Bluetooth so the passenger can safely change what's playing.

sadie93 · 27/12/2023 23:18

Yes, we know each others. Mostly for replying to a text/changing music or something when the other is driving.

I've never opened it without asking. Not that interested!

bloatedbobby · 27/12/2023 23:19

Yes not for snooping but because it’s useful to have access in case of an accident eg access to whatsapp & emails. I only look at his phone when i want to look something up & my is in the other room.

WellThatWasUnfortunate · 27/12/2023 23:19

Yes, but only as it’s the same as mines. A combination of our birthdays

it doesn’t matter what his passcode is as I would never look at his phone anyway

IAmAnIdiot123 · 27/12/2023 23:20

Yes, he takes loads of photos so I often have to use his phone to transfer them to order prints etc.

Actually I changed his passcode by mistake when trying to pay for something. I thought it was asking me to set up a code for that specific app but I had somehow got into the phone setting section. Now he has a long 6 digit one and it won't let him reset it to 4. Oops.

ThreeTreeHill · 27/12/2023 23:21

Yes of course. We use each others phones all the time.

For example to take a photo, check previous photos, change the music in the car, Google something if the other has died, or call say a taxi company if mines died. I will ask him to check an email often. The big one is calling my own phone if I've lost it

I genuinely dont see the problem with him having my password and personally I find it odd that you would never access your partners phone e.g to change the Spotify or Google something or call someone if your phone has died. He has the key to my house and access to literally all my other possessions, in the same way I trust him not to reas my diary I trust him with my phone password

ThreeTreeHill · 27/12/2023 23:22

Also I don't know my amazon password but have prime so anything he orders of amazon he borrows my phone for. I just can't imagine being married to someone and never borrowing their phone?

RufustheFactualReindeer · 27/12/2023 23:22

I do think its weird that a few posters on here seem to think the only reason we would know our partners passcodes is because we don’t trust them and want to keep an eye on them

i guess its projection

Katemax82 · 27/12/2023 23:22

I know my husbands everything. He has no secrets. Kind of makes "surprise" presents not a thing but I always know where I stand

Delassalle · 27/12/2023 23:24

Yes. It's partly my first name!

badhausecat · 27/12/2023 23:25

Yep and he knows mine as sometimes we use each others phones for google, taking pics, Spotify etc if they are at hand or scroll through pics we've taken of each other/family etc. I thought this was pretty normal.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 27/12/2023 23:25

BeaRF75 · 27/12/2023 22:45

No. Why would I need it?

DH made sure I had all of his passwords/codes when he was given a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. He wanted me to be able to access all the info I needed and when he was struck by a massive stroke it proved useful as I could put playlists on his phone for him to listen to in hospital. He couldn't remember his passcode by that stage but he could still read messages so I was able to leave him with an unlocked phone that he could play music and read messages on.

bungletru · 27/12/2023 23:25

Yep I do

Doggymummar · 27/12/2023 23:25

Just asked him, no security on it. I have a fingerprint but that's just for if it gets nicked

Meandermoanda · 27/12/2023 23:25

Yes but I only use it when I need to use his phone to find mine and I'm too lazy to fetch him from upstairs. Or use his phone for maps in the car when mine is dead and he's driving. I'd never read messages or anything. I don't feel I need to and nothing good comes of that!

hitmewithyourbestshot21 · 27/12/2023 23:26

@RufustheFactualReindeer

I don't know my husband's, but if I wanted to see anything he would happily show me. His Face ID is on my phone, and he knows my passcode. I'm happy with that as he usually leaves his phone upstairs (he has an Apple Watch) - we use mine to google stuff and call family.

I was just watching a movie,

The wife never knew her husband was cheating when she found out she tried to go down his phone, and then realised she didn't know his passcode 🤣

Exactly.

Surely the baseline / normal is: knowing each other’s passcodes, because you’re open and trusting. But not invading their privacy - because again, that trust thing, and just basic respect for each other.

Anything else is questionable.
