Just that, how many of you know your husbands/partners passcode for their phone?

WaltzingWaters · 29/12/2023 08:12

Yep, and he knows mine. Never to check through each others messages or anything, just if we want to look something up and don’t have our own phone available.

anothernamechangeagainsndagain · 29/12/2023 08:14

Yes, and he knows mine as do the kids (adults) in case of emergencies. Why wouldn't you?

Nadeliklowen · 29/12/2023 08:16

He's told me but I can't remember it, he's happy to let me use it if ever needed though like if he's driving

GreenIsMyFavoriteColour · 29/12/2023 08:18

No.

Exasperateddonut · 29/12/2023 08:23

I was told it. Doesn’t mean I’ve remembered though….

eatdrinkandbemerry · 29/12/2023 08:28

No and he doesn't know mine but we are happy to pass each other our phones if we need to take a call and the others driving ect.
We change our passwords constantly as we have an autistic son who seems to be able to hack into them every time we leave them unattended 🤣
So it's nothing about secrecy it's all about protecting our bank accounts linked on our phones 🤷‍♀️

Greenbriar · 29/12/2023 08:40

Yes, and he knows mine

We only use them if needed — I might check it if he’s asleep (as he’s a night owl) and he’s asked me to keep an eye out for important messages in the morning

gannett · 29/12/2023 08:47

Yes. And his PIN, and a couple of his passwords (unsure which devices though). He knows my phone pass code and a couple of my passwords. All exchanged for boring admin/convenience reasons. Mostly used to control the music depending whose phone is playing it. Neither of us use this knowledge to snoop through emails, messages, private stuff etc.

Somepeoplearesnippy · 29/12/2023 08:53

I do because he is not great with tech so I often have to log in and set things up for him. I know his iPad password too.

DitheringBlidiot · 29/12/2023 09:04

Well, I like to know that I can keep anything however boring, private from dh. Why not? I don't share every single thought I ever have with him. We got married, we didn't merge into one person. I'm still me. If dh decided he needed access to.my phone I'd be really bloody annoyed tbh. (And he wouldn't get it)

This is how I feel, too. It's not for lack of trust, it's just never occurred to me to have each others PIN codes.

If there were an emergency that precluded me from accessing my own phone then I'd ring 999 as it would probably be bad enough to warrant it.

If he died I'd ring the companies and say he died.

baubl · 29/12/2023 09:14

No but it's a work phone, that's the only one he's got. I know his passcode to the laptop/emails.

Remmy123 · 29/12/2023 09:15

No - never thought to even ask for it

ntmdino · 29/12/2023 09:29

No - we've discussed it and concluded that trust is important to both of us to the point where there is no reason to have access to each other's devices.

There's also the fact that our phones are for work and personal use, and there's highly-sensitive data on there (ie 2FA apps) - it would actually be a breach of our employment contracts to allow anybody else to use them.

Gunnersforthecup · 29/12/2023 14:48

I share my phone with him(I did buy him his own phone but he never bothered to charge it, and anyway he knows he can use mine)

Milkand2sugarsplease · 29/12/2023 16:26

There's as much trust in a partner having a passcode and choosing not to snoop as there is in not having a passcode and actively stopping someone from snooping. I'd be sad if I thought DH was snooping through my phone every 5 mins, though I have no issue with him knowing my code. Good luck to him if he did snoop though - he'd find a whole host of toddler took pictures on the camera roll and a few notes with details of tax free childcare account numbers - hardly the most riveting of content.

Caswallonthefox · 29/12/2023 17:01

No but I can remember my ex husbands NI number. I haven't been with him for 15 years.

adviceneeded1990 · 29/12/2023 17:04

Yeah we know each others, easier for driving, looking things up, taking pics. No interest in reading his messages whatsoever, I’m sure he’s got no interest in mine either.

My ex and I never shared passcodes - his phone sat face down, went to shower with him, hidden away in car, etc. Massive cheat.

There’s a lot to be said for open behaviour in my opinion.

GladAllOver · 29/12/2023 17:09

Yes we know each other's pass codes, so we can can borrow the phone if needed.
I'm shocked to see people saying they don't have a code. What if the phone is lost or stolen and all that personal data is misused?

mogsrus · 29/12/2023 17:21

Without knowing all codes & you break down in the middle of nowhere or even worse a accident, one phone won’t connect & the other is locked, with the other person not being able to at that precise moment remember it what would you do ? & all for the sake of a code

Bobblhat · 29/12/2023 17:46

Yes unless he's changed it. I don't think he knows mine though. I don't think knowing codes and things is necessary unless it's for home computers.

Dynamoat · 29/12/2023 17:47

No because it's our wedding anniversary and I always forget

Cwtshcwtsh · 29/12/2023 17:47

Yes. He knows mine too. We use each others phones on the many occasions one of the DCs has hidden the other phone somewhere.

caringcarer · 29/12/2023 17:49

Yes I know DH passcode for his phone, his internet account and his banking cards. DH knows my phone passcode. DS knows my phone passcode and my bank pin in case he picks something up for me which he often does.

thewalrus · 29/12/2023 17:49

Yes, and vice versa. Don't think I've ever used it unless he's asked me to for some reason though.

GodDammitCecil · 29/12/2023 17:51

Surely there is far more value in implicitly trusting your partner with access to something important / meaningful to you - and absolutely knowing they would never (want to) abuse that.
