Just that, how many of you know your husbands/partners passcode for their phone?

No. He doesn't know mine either.

I don't see the need to know and he agrees.

DuckinEl · 29/12/2023 18:41

Yes, it's the same as mine.

Also my kids know mine and I theirs, adult DD20 told me hers when she got her new phone last month.

Never thought about it, we've always known since they had their first phones.

You never know if and when there could be a need.

DH had a stroke several years ago and I needed to use his phone to contact his customers to tell them he would not be going to them. He was unable to talk or use his hands to unlock his phone.

Thankfully I already knew his passcode as we have always know each others codes, pin numbers etc

I think it’s unlikely that either of us would need to know at this point.

I hope your DH is ok after his stroke, I’m sorry to hear about that.

Hopefully not although strokes or accidents can happen at any time and any age.

DH is absolutely fine. He recovered very quickly. When it happened I was told he may not make it through the night and then a few days later he came out of hospital. Even the doctors were amazed

Abouttimemum · 30/12/2023 13:45

Yes, we have the same passcodes for our phones.

ItAintGonnaGoDownEasyIfItAintCheezy · 30/12/2023 13:49

Yes, we know each others.

Dongdingd · 02/01/2024 12:31

Why do you ask hitmewithyourbestshot21 ?

hitmewithyourbestshot21 · 02/01/2024 13:17

@Dongdingd

I was just watching a movie,

The wife never knew her husband was cheating when she found out she tried to go down his phone, and then realised she didn't know his passcode 🤣

Got me thinking, how many people know their partners passcode

Yes...he knows mine too but has probably forgotten it. Only use it though if one of us asks the other to for some reason. I don't randomly browse. Actually I might open it up if someone rings or texts him and he's not there...

EC22 · 02/01/2024 13:20

No and he doesn’t know mine.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 02/01/2024 13:21

We share everything on 1Password in case one of us snuffs it suddenly so we can get into banking, insurance, other devices etc.

Don't ever try it though as no need to

peachgreen · 02/01/2024 13:24

Yes, although I’ve never used it. It was very useful having DH’s after he died.

SchoolQuestionnaire · 02/01/2024 13:26

No but I reckon I could guess it. He’s very predictable.

Dh has mine but he leaves his phone everywhere and I always know where mine is so he uses mine to ring it and track it down.

happygertie · 02/01/2024 13:26

Yeah, we have the same passcode for both of our phones incase there's an emergency and we need to use each others phone

RufustheFactualReindeer · 02/01/2024 13:28

Surely the apps have their own passwords and additional verification steps to ensure they can't be accessed. They shouldn't rely on just the phone password surely?!

yes dhs phone has this, i can look at google maps etc but emails for example have another layer of security

Exactly.

I have work Outlook and Teams on my phone, which requires Face ID and three-step authentication.

I still maintain that it shows a far greater level of trust and respect to know each other’s passcodes, but never dream of abusing that trust by going through their phone (and vice versa).

Why do people go through their partner’s phone, if they’re not actually looking for something, or suspect something….? This is what I don’t get.

The only possible answer is that you’re a nosy fucker. You like reading through their messages to other people.

If they have apps on there that you like, then just put them on your phone.

It’s the complete lack of respect for someone you love’s privacy that gets me.

DH is entitled to have his own friendships with people that don’t need to involve me at every step along the way, and he’s entitled for that to be private.

And likewise, so am I. What I message my friends is private. Not because it’s in the slightest bit bad - it’s not, quite the opposite! But it is private, and I wouldn’t want anyone reading through them, just like I wouldn’t want anyone knowing my username on here.
