Worst Christmas present

I feel ungrateful but also very disappointed. My husband is crap at gifting but this really takes the biscuit. I am a 53 year old woman and we have been together for 26 years. He bought me a periscope. Am I being unreasonable to be disappointed and ungrateful?😓

I don’t think I have laughed at anything as much as this thread, bloody hilarious!

I’m shit when it comes to gifts buying but even I’m a bit wtf at some of these.

Can’t say I’ve ever had any crap gifts personally but then I’m easily pleased! I’m single and as a general rule we don’t buy for each other in my family as most of us can do without the hassle and expense so my only presents come from my Mum & my youngest son. My mum is great at gifts and I’m easily pleased so no issues there. My son pretty much always just buys me Ferrero Rochers but I love them, they are my fave but I can’t justify the expense on an average day so they are always appreciated!

He did much better. I got 2 books i asked for, also another book that is 3rd in a series that I won't read. He said I could change it. Some lovely earrings from monica vinader. And.... this ! Hilarious.

I've got one of those! I use it for crocheting with dark coloured yarn, really useful. Probs not that useful if you don't crochet.

My husband has one of those neck torches so he can read in bed without waking me up with a proper light. It's genius

I bought my fil a very long handled shoe horn as a joke ten years ago...it's the most used item in their house and he says Everytime I visit it's the best present ever...that was 79p well spent. Pil gifted dh and I a dishwasher one year. Honestly best present ever. They did ask what we wanted and I said a dishwasher would be life changing...I'm thankful for it every day. Dh and I got a toaster and kettle off then this year which is amazing as ours are not working well. They not a posh brand but similar colour to our kitchen and for the first time ever they watch each other! I know others think they bad presents but to use they perfect and we very grateful

My mother in law I've gifted me and my husband an ice scraper (each!) for our cars. She is very well off and has bags of time...

Sounds very useful especially with Jan and Feb coming up

@Bookworm512 , I am actually envious of the neck torch, that’s genius. When I put the hens to bed at night I often need two hands to do the gate and holding a torch at the same time is awkward.

@Londonrach1 - we have a shoehorn like that from IKEA. My dad and brother liked it so much when they stayed that they got one each for Christmas some years ago.
Then everyone wanted one by the front door, one by the back door.
Then my cousins visited… I think we were responsible for a proliferation of long handled shoehorns across the North West 😂

Your hubby is into tech, that's cute. So many things you could get him.

auntyElle · 26/12/2024 14:26

The issue wasn't what OP could buy her DH, @Anuta77. It was his previously awful gift-buying.

Womanofcustard · 26/12/2024 14:31

I would be delighted to get a periscope for Christmas! Where did he buy it?

You can have mine!

Would also be handy if you had a tall person sitting in front of you at the theatre!
