...from Christmas related things. Santa lives at the North Pole and penguins at the South Pole. They are NOT Christmassy and yet they get their little beaky faces plastered on cards and T-shirts and wrapping paper.

Sticking Santa hats on random animals does not make them a symbol of Christmas.

I mean, who wouldn't want one of these on a card?

Cassowaries epitomise Christmas spirit.

It’s great isn’t it! Cassowaries are my fave bird- I’ve been lucky enough to see dozens in my life but each sighting still gives me a thrill. Think I googled “Cassowary in a Santa hat” to find the image.

Wingwings are definitely Christmas.

Because robins work for Santa, they are his spies and report back on who is naughty or nice. How else is he supposed to compile his list? I think most were made redundant by a certain elf product a few years ago, but in my house we are elf free and still rely on the robin system.

Random fact - male and female caribou (reindeer) grow antlers at the same time but lose them at different times. Males lose theirs in the fall but females keep them until the spring. So, if you see any of Santa’s reindeer depicted with antlers, they’re all female ……

What’s not to love about penguins any time of the year.

I now want a John lewis penguin...I didn't realize they sold them. Love that advertise. Not seen it before. I agree sort of op but.....they are cute and do mostly live in the slow...looking forward to celebrating penguin day. Yes I thought this was about biscuits too.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one petty enough to be annoyed by this! Although slight correction- penguins live in various places in the Southern hemisphere, not only the South Pole.

Penguin and club biscuits are still available, for anyone who wants to do a taste test.

Penguins are cute and as entitled to Christmas as anyone else.
