Fed up with the Instagram showing perfect homes, when the real world is much messier..: so show me your normal homes… here’s my messy (and a bit dated) kitchen

Yes, perfect fit from blinds2go. Bloody awkward shaped and sized box bay, took a long time to find somewhere that did the measurements I needed. Really easy to fit, clip into window seal.

This is what out kitchen looked like before we extended, I have my back to a wall, to the right is the sink (can just see drawer open) and a back door. To the left of the hob you can see is the door to the rear of the house. So proper teeny...but very functional and much used/loved. It is now the utility.

I think your kitchen is lovely and lots of people would love one like that! Without being rude I think a really easy win for your kitchen to look a lot more lovely would be to change the handles on the cupboards and drawers! If you like them then fair enough but they don't seem to match to me!

Oh it took me ages to notice they were mismatched…. But yeah, it’s getting renovated next year thank goodness!.

It's a tiny space, but I designed and built it myself, including all the plastering and slate tiling so I am extremely proud of it, I am especially proud of my slate corners.

We have started stripping the wallpaper on the right side and the dishwasher etc hasn't gone on tonight yet. Plus kids been baking so this pretty typical. Our kitchen is always a bit messy tbh. Usually tidy other places but not an insta house. We bought ours as a doer upper last year and haven't touched this room yet. It's taken about a year to do the living room and essential repairs like roof and windows and doors.

You want a small kitchen, I'll give you a small kitchen 😁. And raise you a teeny tiny lounge diner. But it is always clean and tidy because otherwise living in such a small space it would be intolerable not to mention dangerous otherwise.

I love this ! Do you live full time on a boat ? I don't think it would suit me as I would have to declutter far too much but I love the idea .

I have never considered myself a tidy person, I think I’m quite lazy, but my god, looking at some of these I must be a domestic goddess. How do people cope with so much crap (aka much loved belongings) in their homes? It’s Christmas Day in 2 days, do you not have people coming round??
