Let's just rid the world of sprouts

I know MN love pretending that they like them. But nobody is impressed by your lies. Nobody wants them on the plate. So let's improve the world and rid it of these devil cabbages.

And don't try and ruin bacon by frying them together.

OP posts:

Sprouts ruining bacon? ‘Tis the other way around!
I don’t want fatty ham on my lovely balls of green.

hellsBells246 · 19/12/2023 23:36

I love sprouts. Love them!

Jux · 20/12/2023 00:09

I love sprouts.
DH lives sprouts.

I don't care how they're cooked either unless they'reboiled to death (MIL, looking at you!).

I loathe sprouts, but I'm prepared to see them on the table on one day a year. If there are enough other offerings, no one will notice that you didn't take any sprouts, or that if you did, you pushed them around on the plate and didn't eat any.

Only on Christmas Day, mind.

Jux · 20/12/2023 12:02

If you don't LOVE sprouts you're not cooking them right.

BigBouncyBaubles · 20/12/2023 12:07

I love a sprout and I'm happy to declare that to the world. Not for me hiding my sprout love behind closed doors or under the cover of darkness. I'm out and proud,

And sprouts these days are such lovely things. 1980s sprouts used to be much..fartier, whereas now they're a delight. I even had a sprout salad the other day that I keep thinking about. It was garlicky and it had toasted flaked almonds and it was so bloody moreish.

Shouldn't that be (spr)out and proud?

NewbieTwentyFour · 20/12/2023 13:11

No, I like them. 😳

BMW6 · 20/12/2023 13:15

I've just harvested the last sprouts from my allotment so am gutted I'll have to buy them till next year

TheCurlyKnobhead · 20/12/2023 13:19

I love sprouts, great on their own, in bubble & squeak, finished off in a pan with pancetta and chestnuts. I had them as a side in a fancy restaurant in Brisbane in June, with pancetta and sweet mustard dressing - they were delish.

Have them pretty much weekly on our Sunday roast

Baldieheid · 20/12/2023 13:20

I absolutely love sprouts. I'll eat yours, OP. We will both be happy!

FoxyLocksie · 20/12/2023 13:20

Well, I happen to love Brussels sprouts! I'm aware that a lot of people don't like them. All the more for me then!

I would actually be happy to eat a Christmas dinner comprised mainly of sprouts and gravy! 🤣

IreneGoodnight · 20/12/2023 13:21

Steamed button sprouts are eaten all year round in this household.
They are certainly a "marmite" vegetable though.

Digestivechocolatebiscuit · 20/12/2023 13:23

My favourite vegetable..( Leeks a close second).. l have them just about with every roast dinner.. always steamed.
😋

Turfwars · 20/12/2023 13:30

They are my favourite veg.

ntmdino · 20/12/2023 13:32

Just set fire to the lot and good riddance. Ban the growing of them. Absolutely no excuse for such a travesty of a plant.

And yes, I'm aware that means no more cauliflower, broccoli or kale. I'm totally comfortable with that, they can get in the sea too.

SeatonCarew · 20/12/2023 13:37

#TeamNoSprouts.

Farty little green bastards.

Ha! Yes it should

WhatWouldHopperDo · 19/12/2023 18:24

Get your coat. They’re delicious. We have them all winter, not just Christmas. Yum!

Well, I'll help this poster get rid of sprouts. Send them our way and we will magically disappear them, one gorgeous sprout at a time!

MangoPepsiLover · 20/12/2023 13:42

They're one of the only vegetables my DD will eat so I'll take them

OkayScooby · 20/12/2023 13:45

Sproutphobia. Reported.

😁

Pinkpinkplonk · 20/12/2023 13:47

@user1471517900 💕

LenaLamont · 20/12/2023 13:49

They are so much nicer when home grown and picked on the day. Like fresh peas or sweetcorn, the fresher they are, the sweeter they are. Dead easy to grow, too.

Old sprouts boiled to death are nasty fart-bombs.

Fresh sprouts stir fried, par boiled, grilled, roasted with garlic or shredded into a coleslaw are gorgeous.
