Trans women do not have periods.

According to period pants maker Modibodi, transwomen can have 'periods'. Periods which are just as valid apparently.

Whilst I'm not going to suggest I know what hormone treatment tied to a trans woman, I can confidently say that no, they don't have periods. Periods involve blood. Trans women don't bleed.

Modibodi seem to acknowledge that there is no bleeding involved I transwomen's 'periods' but bizarrely under a section on how to manage their periods, trans women should wear period pants. For the life of all God's WHY???! Wtf would wear period pants if they didn't have to?

I saw a woman on twitter who identified as a TW
She was accused of appropriation by TW🤦‍♀️

ForTonightGodisaDJ · 19/12/2023 19:55

I mean they're kind of pitiful really 😕I do genuinely feel a bit sorry for them.

DragonMama3 · 19/12/2023 19:17

@popebishop isn't that non-binary?

I think agender is different from non binary. NBs still have a gender identity afaik, it's just more different than "man" or "woman". I could be wrong though.

https://www.modibodi.co.uk/blogs/womens/transwomen-period

It actually says

Well, trans is a term that can describe people whose gender differs from what was presumed for them at birth. A trans woman is someone who is a woman and who was assigned male at birth

Then says

Some trans women don’t have uteruses.

Seriously.

What the actual fuck am I reading???

if someone was born male: they do not have periods.

the only thing I can think of is someone confusing intersex with trans

wonder if any gynaecologists can weigh in on this

Looking at the actual product, I think it's aimed at trans men who still menstruate, not trans women...

Rare voice of sanity on this thread. I am sceptical about some aspects of trans ideology, but the ill-informed hysteria and levels of missing the point on this thread are so depressing.

elgreco · 19/12/2023 20:00

Its pandering to fetishism.

AppleChristsBirthdayMacchiato · 19/12/2023 20:01

itsgettingweird · 19/12/2023 19:41

It does say all people who menstruate.

Then they have 2 images of actual men wearing them. They DO NOT have periods.

Trans men do.

But biological men do not.

Do you mean this model, who appears twice on the page linked upthread? That's a transman, ie a natal woman.

Of the 5 models on the "all gender" page, none of them appear to be natal males.

Can anyone point to where on the website it actually refers to transwomen?

Trans women do not have periods.
WhichIsItWendy · 19/12/2023 20:01

Does it really matter?!

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 19/12/2023 20:02

@Sallybegood how about you actually read the thread.

WhichIsItWendy · 19/12/2023 20:01

Yes, males don't have periods.

Women should not be told to 'be kind' to males who don't have periods when they are having self induced hormonal mood swings by sanitary product companies.

If you can't see why that matters then you crack on but many women are sick to the teeth of being gaslit to being support humans to males with a fetish.

lifeturnsonadime · 19/12/2023 20:02

Thank you for sharing the link. I was unaware, and thought the objection was over the use of transmale models and the term "for all genders" (which I don't have a problem with).

That webpage specifically is just batshit and pushing a dangerous and obviously false ideology.

And it's a shame, since transmen get completely overlooked most of the time, and they're exactly the kind of people who would benefit from a campaign for "all gender" menstrual products.

You obviously have not read the thread as multiple PP. including OP, have linked to the actual part of their website where they are talk explicitly about TW ( that is men who identify as women) having periods, say not all TW have uteruses and whilst acknowledging that TW dont' bleed, say they should still wear period pants.

So no, no-one is missing the point. Except those who have not actually read the thread or read the links to relevant part of the company's website.

2mummies1baby · 19/12/2023 20:06

Please, please stop sharing false information, OP. The pants are aimed at transmen, many of whom do still have periods, not trans women, none of whom have periods.

CatMadam · 19/12/2023 19:22

… basically every reply in the thread is blatant transphobia. There is really no denying that.

The link describes the hormone changes trans woman go through which sound similar to those cis women have during periods. I know I had a week where i felt very ‘period-y’ without bleeding when I had the contraceptive implant. But I believe in being kind to trans women in general :)

I know I had a week where i felt very ‘period-y’ without bleeding when I had the contraceptive implant.

But you didn't need *period pants1 that week, did you? Period products are only needed if you shed the lining of your uterus. This a company trying to sell underwear designed to catch shed uterine lining to people who do not have, have never had, and can never have uteruses. This company is telling potentially-dangerous lies about biology to do so. "Some trans women don’t have uteruses" implies that some do have uteruses, which is a flat lie.

If Modibodi were just being kind to women who believe that they are men or non-binary by selling them period pants in a boyshort cut and acknowledging them in their choice of language, that would be reasonable. Every woman deserves the most comfortable possible menstrual products, and that includes those who don't recognise that they are women. But pretending that a man, as in someone born male, can have a uterus? That's utter absurdity.

I was about to buy these period pants for my daughter, maybe 6 weeks ago now and they definitely said transwomen have periods too, once a month (the feeling of they said) and can feel included wearing period pants. I didn’t buy and never will now.

Just did a google search and all references seem to be removed. My husband can dig up the cached pages to prove I am right if he or I are bothered.

  1. we want to live like women
  2. we want to be women
  3. we don't need to have the right biology to be women
  4. we actually are women
  5. we are more like women than you women ever will be.

My oldest friend is a trans man- they take steps to stop their periods because it makes them feel their gender dysphoria more strongly. The number of trans men in the market for period products is absolutely tiny.

Trans men are dwarfed by the numbers of males with period fetishes. This is the real market they are targeting, and woke young biological women who are happy to throw the rights of fellow biological women away.

HermioneWeasley · 19/12/2023 20:10

@2mummies1baby the copy clearly states trans women and has some nonsense about TWs periods not being well understood yet.

it’s delusional nonsense.

only women and girls have periods. Only women and girls die in menstrual huts. Only girls drop out of school when their periods start. Only women choose between food and sanpro. Only girls are sold as child brides at menarche.

they can fuck all the way off with this bullshit.
