Trans women do not have periods.

According to period pants maker Modibodi, transwomen can have 'periods'. Periods which are just as valid apparently.

Whilst I'm not going to suggest I know what hormone treatment tied to a trans woman, I can confidently say that no, they don't have periods. Periods involve blood. Trans women don't bleed.

Modibodi seem to acknowledge that there is no bleeding involved I transwomen's 'periods' but bizarrely under a section on how to manage their periods, trans women should wear period pants. For the life of all God's WHY???! Wtf would wear period pants if they didn't have to?

Its all very simple -

women have periods if they are of the right age and have a uterus
trans men have periods if they are of the right age and have a uterus
trans women do not have periods because they do not have a uterus.

MrsTwatInAHat · 19/12/2023 21:25

So if a white person’s real feelings are that they are black - or an able-bodied person’s feelings are that they have cerebral palsy when they don’t - or a 60-year-old’s feelings are that they are 5 - or my feelings are that I am Rishi Sunak and should get to do PMQs and run the country - do all those feelings have to be pandered to as well?

or an anorexic girl’s real feelings that she’s fat?

Why do only the feelings of men matter, men who claim to be women? Especially as it’s a proven fact that for large numbers of them, it is a sexual fetish? Why only them?

What's with the spammers posting that same link?

gocompare · 19/12/2023 21:26

Not one mention of shedding blood. But they still want to call it a period.

It's not. Those are symptoms anyone gets. You don't need a sanitary pad or tampon for any of that.

MrsTwatInAHat

I think any transwoman claiming they have periods needs to have a lesson in basic female biology and needs to understand what a period is actually made up of

What's with the spammers posting that same link?

because no one is reading it. Some posters THINK that the objection is to transmen having periods 🙄when it isn't.

Topofthemountain · 19/12/2023 21:27

Kudos to all those who have come back to read the link and have admitted that their first reaction was wrong. I will be seeing that blue hair in my sleep though.

However, I am disappointed with the TENA link, they are my preferred products, I'm not keen on Always pads.

I don't know about you, but I'm capable of holding more than one thought in my head at a time, so can worry about several things of varying import simultaneously.

Nothing 'import' clearly!

appylittle · 19/12/2023 21:30

@MrsTwatInAHat

Good point. For anorexics, shall we give in to to their desires... "well if you feel a bit fat today, sure just don't eat anything today"

Why is one ok but the other not?

And one could say "why do you care if she doesn't eat, it doesn't affect you"... but we do care and we do care that women's rights are being eroded.

No one is "spamming", it's perfectly reasonable to keep posting the link when posters keep saying stuff that shows that they either haven't read it because they only read p1 and posted straight away and genuinely don't realise that it's not about the transmale model, or because they have rtft and are being disingenuous and goady.

(FWIW I actually have pink hair Wink)

But this too:

*Tips for navigating your period as a trans womanHere are some top tips for managing your period as a trans woman:

  • Track your hormonal cycle: Use a tracker app like Clue to keep tabs on your cycle and any related symptoms. This is a quick and easy way to feel more prepared and in control*

What the hell is a TW meant to track?
This is just bonkers.

I’m sad Essity owns Tena too. It is the only thing my DD can use.

Tips for tracking your period when you're trans

If you’re transgender or non-binary, tracking your menstrual cycle can help you identify patterns and be prepared for what's coming next.

If you're going to sneer at someone for their choice of words it might be sensible to check a dictionary first.

BrimfulOfMash · 19/12/2023 21:42

Modibodi: “Some trans women don’t have uteruses,”

Curious how a company make their profits from women’s biology without knowing a thing. Shameful , really.

What the actual fuck is that utter trash?! What do you think happens if you stuff yourself with hormones you don't need? You're going to have a ton of symptoms as a reaction to those hormones, but it is not and never will be a menstrual cycle!

katepilar · 19/12/2023 21:43

As if the swimming trans thing wasnt enough. I didnt expect this from Modibodi, or any other period underwear. Its shocking and I personally find this to be most invasive of my personal womens space /for the lack of a better word/.

the website says, apart from other nonsense:
Many trans women have periods. Some trans women don’t have uteruses, so they won’t bleed as part of a monthly menstrual cycle. But the hormonal experience of menstruation can still be very real.
Some trans women undergo gender-affirming treatment in the form of feminising hormones. These hormones can result in a range of physical and emotional symptoms, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Appetite changes
  • Bloating due to water retention
  • Cramping
  • Tiredness and fatigue
  • Listlessness
  • Mood swings
These symptoms may occur at the same time each month, just like premenstrual syndrome (PMS). For many trans women, this is their period.

I haven't bought Modibodi for years, ever since they began to push this ridiculous ideology. All my period pants are from WUKA, but if they go the same way I'll buy from elsewhere. I won't support a company that denies biological reality and exploits mental illness.

MrsTwatInAHat · 19/12/2023 21:53

These symptoms may occur at the same time each month, just like premenstrual syndrome (PMS). For many trans women, this is their period.

But women's periods hardly ever happen at the same time each month. As month length varies, and the length of a cycle varies a lot, and can also change, almost all women's cycles will not match accurately with the same date of the month each time.

I've seen TW on Twitter claiming they have a period because it's "the 10th of every month" etc - showing that they know nothing whatsoever about it.

Wait till they realise they can be peri and then menopausal. New level unlocked.

and being trans, and identifying as a women makes them feel happy. Your language is extreme and it totally undermines real feelings of others. Have a little humanity and calm the f down.

Transwomen, by identifying as women, whatever the fuck that means as no one can actually say, are trampling over the rights of actual women by invading their spaces that they have no right to be in.

Taking places in sports they have no right to compete in, and being placed in prisons where they have no right to be in, thus making women very unhappy. By mangling language they are undermining women's real feelings.

Why are the feelings of a tiny minority of people trumping women and why are advocating for them? Why don't you show a bit of humanity to THOSE women and calm the fuck down.
