Trans women do not have periods.

According to period pants maker Modibodi, transwomen can have 'periods'. Periods which are just as valid apparently.

Whilst I'm not going to suggest I know what hormone treatment tied to a trans woman, I can confidently say that no, they don't have periods. Periods involve blood. Trans women don't bleed.

Modibodi seem to acknowledge that there is no bleeding involved I transwomen's 'periods' but bizarrely under a section on how to manage their periods, trans women should wear period pants. For the life of all God's WHY???! Wtf would wear period pants if they didn't have to?

I don't know about you but I have more important things to worry about than whether or not someone that identifies as trans has a hormonal cycle similar to a cis woman's period or not. Get a grip.

I don't know about you, but I'm capable of holding more than one thought in my head at a time, so can worry about several things of varying import simultaneously.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 19/12/2023 21:04

You can't just separate out the bleeding, or the hormonal cycle - menstruation is an organic part of the human female mammalian physiology from menarche to menopause

I agree but the whole TRA movement is about dissecting different parts of being a woman and pretending they’re not related to each other.

Yes, and then the TRAs say that it's feminists who are unhealthily obsessed with body parts (all that guff about "genital checks").

Good grief you think it's extremist to KNOW that males don't get periods? And to think that any male who believes he gets periods and uses sanitary products is a fetishist makes me an extremist?

Well at least that makes a refreshing change from being called a transphobe and a bigot for believing in the truth!

Blimey, why are you so defensive?

Of course men can't have periods, they can never have a functional womb. That's fact.

I also, personally, feel there's a problem going on with the trans narrative.

BUT I couldn't care less who is buying period pants. Literally can't give a toss. We all do weird shit behind closed doors. I truly don't understand how worked up you're getting over this.

Also, to act like ALL transmen are fetish fueled is just wrong. Gender dysmorphia can be huge. Not all trans women have autogynophilia. Some have crippling gender dysmorphia, and being trans, and identifying as a women makes them feel happy. Your language is extreme and it totally undermines real feelings of others. Have a little humanity and calm the f down.

WhichIsItWendy · 19/12/2023 20:51

Honestly, the language you're using makes it sound like you've been knee deep in gender critical text books and are just regurgitating it.

Your extremism isn't helping anyone. Calm down and put the podcasts down.

I found a drawing of you, very realistic.

Transwomen don't have a hormone cycle similar to a woman's period.

What ever mood swings they have are self inflicted.

YABU to expect any woman to validate that as being anything like a period. It isn't.

Desecratedcoconut · 19/12/2023 21:09

I think the erosion of women's biology into a pantomime farce is worth a moment of time when women's rights are taking a hiding.

thinslicedham · 19/12/2023 21:05

I'm so very tired of all the pathetic pandering on this issue. It's frustrating to those of us old enough to know the truth (sex is biological and cannot be changed, and it's not anyone's job to facilitate another person's delusion), but it's the thought of the confusion being forced upon so many children today that's truly disturbing. They're being lied to just to "affirm" a small group of people. It's not phobic to grasp basic biology and refuse to lie about scientific fact.

Yes yes yes yes. You just nicely summed up everything I have been trying to say for years.

@Mornusting Please enlighten me.
@lifeturnsonadime I have no idea what a TRA playback is.
@AccidentallyWesAnderson , Why is it short sighted?

PurpleBugz · 19/12/2023 21:10

Post "bottom surgery" there is a high chance of needing pants that are absorbant for certain things? Trying not to be crass but I'm thinking seeping wounds and bladder issues. I wear period pants for bladder issues from a traumatic labour. So not everything those pants are used for is literal period blood.

Even so. A need for absorbant pants for these reasons doesn't make you a woman

I think you are probably right that not all trans women are fetishists but I"d place a strong bet that the ones that claim to have periods and buy period products ARE fetishists!

And I think you are muddling up trans women and trans men in your final paragraph, I don't think TM are fetishist and they certainly can have periods if they haven't taken steps to stop them.

gocompare · 19/12/2023 21:13

Where does it fucking end.

I mean a close family member is trying to have a baby. Using ivf. Her own eggs not donar eggs but if a tw applied to be an egg donar they would be turned down because they have no eggs. That is scientifically correct and it's because you need an actual women with the dna of a women to produce eggs.

Can't wait for a tw to kick off they have been declined as an egg donar. But of the same tw wanted a baby they would need an actual women to provide the actual eggs because of dna and how we function. Ffs.

I have re peaked again tonight.

I do not think transmen ( or transwomen for that matter) who wear periods pants have a fetishism. However I do wonder about all you people who seem to be completely over invested on what underwear someone else is wearing, when it has absolutely no affect on your daily lives.

The problem is not what people are choosing to wear. The problem is how Modibodi are lying about biology and coercing women into supporting the lie in this article: https://www.modibodi.co.uk/blogs/womens/transwomen-period?irclickid=3K-2Jk1ISxyPR7gUth0nvy00UkH0Ccw9m2xj1M0&irgwc=1#:~:text=Many%20trans%20women%20have%20periods,the%20form%20of%20feminising%20hormones.

Yalta · 19/12/2023 21:16

I would like to ask them how the physical biology works.

How can a trans woman (a male born without a womb) have a period

Their advert does say for all genders.

Far be it from me to refer to the Trades Description act but for clarity as gender has nothing to do with the sex of a person
If they insist on referring to gender then they need to clarify that when they say “All gender period underwear” they are referring to those born female only and not to those born male.

PurpleBugz · 19/12/2023 21:17

@WhichIsItWendy

"Your language is extreme and it totally undermines real feelings of others. "

Feelings....

well my real feelings are that a woman is an adult human female and male DNA people claiming our worlds are eroding woman's rights. We can't even define ourselves now without hurting the FEELINGS of males.

How about you have some humanity for the biological women's f-img feelings. Or do ours not matter when they are inconvenient to male 'women'

MrsTwatInAHat · 19/12/2023 21:17

Trans women don’t menstruate and don’t claim to.

Hello? Where have you been for the past 5-10 years? Yes, they do claim to. Not all of them obviously but enough of them for period product makers to pander to it and they have been doing so for some time.

Apart from the rest of it, any feature they do that centres a male is sidelining and silencing the actual menstruating female who could have been there instead. It’s yet more of the colonisation and displacement of womanhood by males, under the guise of “inclusion”.

Inclusion doesn’t mean including stuff that’s got nothing to do with what you’re talking about and has no place there. If I’m talking about carrots I don’t have to include a chainsaw to be ‘inclusive’. If I’m holding a conference for qualified brain surgeons I don’t have to include a pantomime horse to be “inclusive”. And if I’m talking about menstruation I don’t have to include a male to be “inclusive”. Because it’s not about males.

If this company ran this advert past their lawyers and it was given the green light then those lawyers should be struck off if they can’t see the advertisement is a lie.

gocompare · 19/12/2023 21:19

WhichIsItWendy · 19/12/2023 20:01

Does it really matter?!

Yes it does.

We have seen what happens when we give an inch.

Men in women's prisons. Jessica fucking Yaniv or whatever his name is suing every fucker for not waxing his balls. Women getting the actual shit kicked out of them in mma tournaments, women and girls being injured in sports, losing places in medals, in women only awards. Hardly anyone in parliament able to state what is a women, women's being threatened on social
Media with rape etc etc by the TW who give the rest of them a bad name.

Yes it does matter because if we say nothing about the supposed small things then the rest just snowballs against us.

And if it doesn't matter so much why don't the TW stop making such a big deal about all of it and any perceived slight against anyone who doesn't agree with them.

Mornusting · 19/12/2023 21:20

LdnAnna · 19/12/2023 21:04

I don’t understand the confusion. It says “made to be worn and loved by all people who menstruate”. Trans men menstruate? Key word being trans.

Look at this

Trans women do not have periods.
gocompare · 19/12/2023 21:20

Transwomen don’t have periods. You need a womb for that 😉

appylittle · 19/12/2023 21:24

@gocompare it sounds like a series of "handmaids tale"... only it's real life. It's unbelievable. I can't believe we live on this planet believing this shit and treating women so badly.
