I find it hard to buy gifts!

He says he doesn't need anything (as we are going on a trip and that is gift enough.)

A fleece lined jumper
A book on mountains (his hobby)
Woollen socks (he's in an active job and I thought these socks were life changing for me!)
A Chromebook

DH is a PITA to buy for (if he wants it, he buys it... birthday close to Christmas... not into anything 'specific' and has all he could need for what he is into...) so I've gone for:

A print of a piece of art he said he liked
Some nduja spread (loves it on pizza)
Some fancy porridge oats
A personalised Emma Bridgewater mug
Moisturiser
Bar of Biscoff chocolate
Packet of sweets
Talc for his balls (thought it'd be funny)
Some slime cleaner stuff for his laptop and desktop keyboards

Other ideas I had were:
Tickets to Harry Potter studio (but I really want to take the kids as well)
Coffee subscription
Gyroscope (loves little gadgety things)
Tshirt/beanie for his favourite cricket team (but they're bound to have a new kit out soon for the next season)
Cryptocurrency merch
Some cans of different ales
Audible credits (loves listening to books on the go)
New trainers/shoes
Clothes
Voucher for the console store

I remember really understand it when people say they 'buy what they want' because do people really buy themselves the same things you'd get as presents? Like I've never thought about buying a 30 quid bottle of shower gel or really fancy chocolates for myself. I thought that was the point!

I do. I hardly ever want anything but if I want something, I buy it. I probably spend less on myself than many people on here (the only 'grooming' I do is a £30 hair cut every couple of months and a £5 box dye less often than that, so nothing on make up, treatments etc). I almost never buy coffee out with my own money (maybe once a month unless I can claim from work), many people spend hundreds of pounds a year on these things.

This year I've bought Audrey's chocolates (don't bother, they're really nothing special, despite the price and MN love). I've also bought some from Lauden, which were good. So that's over £100 on three boxes of chocolates, but that's probably the only chocolate I've bought all year and has cost less than a daily mars bar or similar.

I don't understand 'things you wouldn't buy for yourself' when people have money that they're free to spend. If you want it, buy it. Don't wait in the hope that someone will buy you it for Christmas because in all likelihood, they'll buy you something similar but not the one you actually wanted.

A garden bench and a tree and a cow and a sheep solar light! Plus usual chocolates

A Norwegian jumper he really liked but was hesitant to buy because of the price. Weekend tickets to the rugby champions cup and challenge cup finals
