I find it hard to buy gifts!

He says he doesn't need anything (as we are going on a trip and that is gift enough.)

We did Christmas for DH yesterday as he flies away for work on Monday and won’t be home again until the 28th.

We all chipped in and bought him a full stocked bar fridge.

Santa gave him in his stocking:

Cologne
Socks
Ear and nose trimmer 🥸
Scratchies
Chocolates

Under the tree:

Shorts
Shirt
Swimwear

Ewoklady · 16/12/2023 16:12

A good coat
hair trimmer thing
toiletries
chocolate
tracksuit bottoms

We couldn't afford to buy anything for each other last year.

This year we are basically giving gifts to replace broken tatty things we already have.

I've got him a nice tshirt and polo shirt and a new iPad cover.

GuitarGeorgina · 16/12/2023 16:21

a few books
socks
beer
spice grinder

NaughtyButNice · 16/12/2023 16:23

Exactly what he asked for a case for a tool he has with the special insert thingy to stop it rattling around and a collapsible wheeled carry thing for when he has to move his boxes of tools around. Also a tape measure as a suprise gift because he is always breaking them.

None of it is very exciting but they are all things he wants/needs.

A subscription to Prospect magazine and a new clergy shirt (he is ordained).

Hahaha I love that you provided that clarification :D

Perfectlystill · 16/12/2023 16:33

Clothes. So boring.

Utterbunkum · 16/12/2023 16:38

Ice cream scoop (he wanted a specific type) chocolate, couple of bottles of beer, mug with 'I kicked Bishop Brennan' on it (our fave episode of father Ted) an bag of mixed nuts.

Goldcrestonabranch · 16/12/2023 16:39

nothing, we aren't kids.

nothing, we aren't kids.

But do you have children? DH and I would happily not buy each other Christmas presents, all the money comes out of one pot anyway so we are essentially buying our own presents. BUT we buy each other a token gift to model behaviour to our children that they will need for their future relationships.

Dontcallmescarface · 16/12/2023 16:42

A jumper he said he liked when we were mooching around the shops on a weekend away last week (just clarifying that it was what he wanted not what I randomly got for him).
A cup from a festival we went to a few weeks ago
Gin
A large box of Ferrero (the only chocolates he likes)
A Steam gift card as there is a new game he wants to download.

Ilovemyshed · 16/12/2023 16:43

Nothing other than lunch out and a few days off from renovating the house.

Nothing. He doesn't need anything or want anything either.

Yep, same here.

HurdyGurdy19 · 16/12/2023 16:46

I asked him earlier in the year whether he'd like a "big" birthday present in September, or something small in September and a "big" present at Christmas.

He opted for the big present for his birthday, so he got eye-wateringly expensive tickets to see Eric Clapton next year.

So for Christmas I've got him an Airfix model of his favourite WWII plane, a vacuum cleaner type thing for whatever it is he does in his workshop/shed., and a couple of pairs of socks - one with Dark Side of the Moon Logo and the other with the AC/DC logo.

momager1 · 16/12/2023 16:47

Nothing. We will have a lovely day to ourselves with some good food and probably a movie marathon. No big dinner just munchies. Our gifts to each other are two flights each a year from the Dominican Republic to Canada to visit our grandkids .. not together as we have two dogs to be taken care of here in the DR. This is our Christmas, birthday and anniversary gifts combined.

Tereseta · 16/12/2023 16:47

A footstool shaped like a Highland cow, a pair Where's wally vans, mint chocs and a endoscope camera to look in engines!

Elphame · 16/12/2023 16:49

Expensive limited edition bottle of whisky from a Welsh distillery. He would never buy himself anything like that but I know he will enjoy it very much.

IClaudine · 16/12/2023 16:50

Books, DVDs of a couple old films that are hard to find via streaming etc. and a framed print by an artist he likes.

Stresa22 · 16/12/2023 16:50

A professional style rain coat
A light for his office when he’s on Teams calls
A portable coffee machine for when he travels to the U.S. and hates every cup of coffee he’s ever had 😆 I’m American so I don’t mind our coffee

Skincarehelp23 · 16/12/2023 16:52

I remember really understand it when people say they 'buy what they want' because do people really buy themselves the same things you'd get as presents? Like I've never thought about buying a 30 quid bottle of shower gel or really fancy chocolates for myself. I thought that was the point!

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 16/12/2023 16:52

Whisky, some whisky-flavour shortbread, a DVD, some toiletries . May get some socks too .
