I find it hard to buy gifts!

He says he doesn't need anything (as we are going on a trip and that is gift enough.)

A watch (combined Xmas and birthday as it's soon after the holiday), an original map from the 1600s of the place we met (we got married recently so planning to write a nic text at the back and frame it), and a book

Eeepsh · 16/12/2023 15:25

I maje him a photo book of this year - easier if you have children I guess as you're more likely to have lots of photos.

MarleyandMarleyWoooo · 16/12/2023 15:26

Slippers, a new watch for work and a silicone wedding ring cause he lost his but likes to wear one, a pair of wellies as his have just developed a hole and a new water bottle, a fancy shmancy one.

ANightingale · 16/12/2023 15:27

A retro gaming console. Mostly because I want it myself 😆

Haveallthesongsbeenwritten · 16/12/2023 15:27

Clothing thats all he wanted!

Holdingsteady · 16/12/2023 15:34

Lego, a gimbal (attaches to your iPhone for filming stuff) chocolates, 3 pairs of new shorts (it’s summer here) electric toothbrush

biter · 16/12/2023 15:40

A grind coffee machine.

He's been visiting a lot of houses recently and enjoying the many fancy coffee machines on offer.

This one is for pods but the pods are fully compostable in home bins.

I hope he likes it.

He's really hard to buy for as he buys what he wants (usually in the month ahead of his birthday / Christmas 😂🙄

AdoraBell · 16/12/2023 15:41

Rugby shirt and chocolates from me
T-shirts, socks, handkerchiefs and chocolate from DDs.

TabbyBeast · 16/12/2023 15:42

Set of cheese knives
Cosy fleecy jumper to chill at home in
DVDs of comedy shows he loved
Sheepskin insoles for his slippers

JennyForeigner · 16/12/2023 15:43

Audible subscription, pie maker because the rest of us are vegetarian and eat lentil, while all he really wants in life is a meat pie.

ChainBastard · 16/12/2023 15:45

Tattoo voucher, lego, boxers and socks and a travel cup.

strawberry2017 · 16/12/2023 15:46

Jeans
Jumper
Pants /socks - he would be sad if he didn't get these.
A new mug
Wasabi peanuts
Pistachios
Some Daim chocolate
2 T-shirts
Random stuff he needs/ wouldn't buy himself basically

reeellygudd · 16/12/2023 15:47

I have bought a book, some licorice allsorts, a chocolate orange, and 3 sets of theatre tickets for us both to use in Jan, Feb and April.

BIossomtoes · 16/12/2023 15:48

A game from his childhood tracked down on eBay, a nightshirt, a painting of one of his favourite places and a golf club. He only knows about the last one.

Fionaville · 16/12/2023 15:50

The most used/loved present I've bought mine in recent years is an Oodie. Closely followed by an electric pepper mill. Previous winners have been an xbox, posh socks and expensive tshirts. Lots of other presents have been happily received, but not as well used. I'm drawing a blank what to get him this year.

Ladyj84 · 16/12/2023 15:51

Nothing either of us

DeedlessIndeed · 16/12/2023 15:52

A nice warm cableknit from Reiss.

We're becoming parents in the new year, so I think we've transitioned to sensible presents. Restaurant vouchers seems excellent idea actually.

miniegg3 · 16/12/2023 15:57

Boxers, small Lego set, fudge..

ListenLinda · 16/12/2023 15:58

He wants trainers but JD dont have the ones he wants in his size online, we wont have time to get to a store before the day, so he is happy to wait until after.

But also got him some smellies, a hoodie, a new controller for his playstation (which is also for the kids, so they can play with him on fifa 😁) a game for his playstation, going to get him some chocolates and possibly a new notebook for work.

Hummusanddipdip · 16/12/2023 15:59

He's a hard one to buy for, especially as his birthday is just before Christmas, so this is a list of what I've got for both days, I'll decide which goes where the night before his birthday:

A Christmas jumper - I get him one every year
A couple of books - since I unpacked all of my books last month (we had bookshelves made, so they've been packed away for a while) he's rediscovered reading
A lego fender guitar - he's really enjoyed building lego with ds this year and he is a guitar fanatic
Guitar strings
Gaming headset - ds broke the current one
Keyboard for his pc - he's a gamer and some buttons have given up
Box of chocolates- another yearly tradition

Only thing I haven't got him this year is a beard related top as he has enough teeshirts.

educatingrati · 16/12/2023 16:02

Flight simulator 'lessons', I also got him some goggles and traditional hat Grin He wants to learn to fly, but I couldn't stretch to that.

Weddingpuzzle · 16/12/2023 16:04

I had to get special permission to get into a factory, then drive 2 hours to the said factory to buy my DH's ...walking boots. £250 lighter and wondering why I married Bear Grylls younger cousin Hmm

furtivetussling · 16/12/2023 16:09

Some slippers and a pair of trousers, both of which he's asked for, and a map of Britain showing amusing place names (which I bought for his birthday some months ago and which didn't arrive in time). I'll probably buy him a panettone and/or a Toblerone as well.

He's buying me some slippers and a handbag, both of which I asked for. He'll probably buy me some chocolates I don't like rather than ones I do. He has form for this. 😂 We're not going overboard this time, as neither of us want much and we are saving up to have new fitted wardrobes in our bedroom this coming year.

ladyvimes · 16/12/2023 16:09

T-shirts and tickets to see his favourite comedian.

Ariela · 16/12/2023 16:09

Mine is into old vehicles, so I have sourced a small trim part he's wanted for years (think along the lines of an AA badge, or RR flying lady, so they get stolen a lot), got it rechromed, and have it packaged in a small box. He hasn't a clue.

I was very lucky, happened to mention one was needed to a friend who knew someone who knew someone who had one they were thinking of selling. Said friend helpfully said he'd shot blast it and get it sent off with his next lot of rechroming, so it looks like new but is still original.
