I find it hard to buy gifts!

He says he doesn't need anything (as we are going on a trip and that is gift enough.)

It’s relatively easy for me as my husband loves his motorcycles… anything to do with them goes down extremely well. 😀

NotYeti · 17/12/2023 08:13

We're not going crazy this year but so far I have got him a little kalimba instrument, a cool infuser teapot thing (he's into medicinal herbs and teas), a travel coffee mug and a cushion with our cat's face on it. 🤣 I want to get more stuff but I would be buying for the sake of buying now. We'll see if anything else tickles my fancy...

CeriB82 · 17/12/2023 08:14

If he says nothing, leave it like that.

nothing means nothing.

DinosApple · 17/12/2023 08:16

I've had it for quite a few years living in a drawer for DH and have finally remembered to wrap it up this year.

Just checked though, it's not life of Brian, close, it's a Monty Python In My Pocket. (There's a gap in the market there however!)

I was given an A-team in my pocket years ago, absolutely loved it, you could push a button and Mr T would say 'Quit your jibber jabber!', 'Don't give me no back talk sucker!' and other such delights....

Poblano · 17/12/2023 08:19

A shirt and bluetooth earphones.

CountryShepherd · 17/12/2023 08:23

Some locally made venison chorizo, a very posh chefs knife and an Amen refill.

KimberleyClark · 17/12/2023 08:25

A new suitcase, as the wheels came off his and we are off on holiday in the new year. A jumper, one of those automatic belts without holes, a red wine warmer and some books.

I agree. Mine says this and really means it. He buys things as and when he needs/ wants them and doesn’t appreciate extra ‘stuff’, no matter how thoughtful. I tried for some years but eventually realised it was a waste of money and effort!

Pottedpalm · 17/12/2023 08:26

A pair of chinos from a very nice shop. I made him tey them on so I know they are perfect. I also always give him a Terry’s chocolate orange and he needs socks. Rest of the family give him train set stuff.

Badgerandfox227 · 17/12/2023 08:29

Lego, a sweatshirt and some shortbread.

6 month rum tasters subscription, M&S jeans (he has chunky calves and lives in shorts and the M&S slim fit are perfect and he's only discovered them at 31 so only has one pair), Next aftershave (still has half a bottle of Hugo Boss left so I've topped up his every day one), hand drawn portrait of us and DD from DD (his first Christmas as a Dad so wanted something special).

mamacorn1 · 17/12/2023 08:46

Got mine a guitar…so I’ll be in hell this Christmas . 😭

neverbeenskiing · 17/12/2023 08:50

Always good quality socks, as he loves the feel of new socks - books - we don't send cards but buy a book for each celebration and put a dedication in it, so it is a reminder - a wallet, where the cards are secure, as his is a bit tatty, so an upgrade - a belt to replace one that just disintegrated after many years of use.

@YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME
I'm now searching for a decent wallet for OH. Thank you.
This was the thread I didn't know I needed.

nokidshere · 17/12/2023 08:53

I've got mine tickets to England v W Indies Cricket in June
A bottle of Elemis bath soak which I buy once at Christmas and once on his birthday and it lasts 6 months
And a jumper that he chose

wineandmaltesershappyme · 17/12/2023 08:55

Smart boots for work in winter and a jigsaw board so stops using the coffee table

babybythesea · 17/12/2023 08:56

A thick jacket from Saltrock as he spends a lot of time gardening.
He's a bird geek. Waterstones had re-issued copies of The Life of Birds signed by David Attenborough. He’s got that.

wejammin · 17/12/2023 08:58

Lego chess set (to share with DS1)
Coffee subscription
Socks

wideawakeinthemiddleofthenightagain · 17/12/2023 09:03

This is a timely thread as it reminded me that I needed to get DH some socks & under t-shirts as he always manages to destroy them (socks in particular) but never seems to think to buy himself new ones.
Then I've got him

  • jumper
  • casual shirt
  • 3 novels he requested
  • a book of cricket grounds of the world as his retirement plan is to follow the English cricket team
  • a history of his football team done cartoon style which was a surprise find at a local craft fair when everything else was fudge, gin, jewellery and knitted items
SABM10 · 17/12/2023 09:06

Festival tickets. We share finances so not a lot of point getting 'things' as we already just buy what we need, I always go for experiences (plus I get to go too 😅)

HearMeSnore · 17/12/2023 09:07

I found an original arcade flier for a video game he used to love when we were students. So I bought it and put it in a frame to go in his study.

Also pants, a book, a humorous mug, a T-shirt and a board game.

WillowTit · 17/12/2023 09:12

something he will actually use, a jumper
and some other things, but mainly it is the jumper that he appreciates.
from a suggestion on mn i bought him a whittling kit last year, still not out of the box,
a ukele another year, still not out of the box

lightelmqueen · 17/12/2023 09:12

2 hardback books from second hand book shop

We don't do big presents to each other, would rather spend on the kids. Need to buy new car in January so money very tight at the moment
