Is 7 pints excessive?

I mean, what's the standard amount of pints a man has when they go for drinks?

DP drank on an empty stomach, 7 pints and is now throwing up for the past 2 hours (making noises that mean I can't for the life of my sleep).

To be honest, I'm emetophobic so I just want the clarity that that amount of alcohol makes sense to end up throwing up and that it is not likely to be some sort of contagious virus.

I agree. Noone deliberately drunks enough to vomit. And anyone who claims to have never made an error of judgement whilst sober is a liar, so it's not surprising people make them whilst drinking. It doesn't sound like OP's DH has done this before, so I'd cut him some slack. It was a mistake. If he continues doing it, THEN he becomes a self arsehole.

Is it also selfish of an emetophobe to impact their family, if they haven't sought treatment?

My SIL has emetophobia. When her children are ill she moves out and my MIL moves in - the kids want their mummy but she won't stay in case they vom. She won't allow them to go on rides, and theme parks are off limits, in case they vom. She says no to them trying any foods she considers "different", in case they vom.

She's never sought treatment, she just allows it limit her children's lives. I think she is a selfish arsehole.

Treatment doesn't always work. But it's definitely selfish to not try it and expect everyone else to just adapt around it.

Obvs OP may have tried all sorts. But if not, it would be a good idea.

I agree with this, totally.
I think 7 pints is a lot but depends on the amount of time he spent drinking. 5 is my limit, that's probably over 4 or 5 hours. Anymore than that and I'll start talking absolute shite. Generally I'm not one for being sick. Unless it's wine. I don't drink wine when I'm out. It's too lethal.

I read a thread earlier where a woman got wankered and her husband had to take her home from an event at 8.30 and is furious with her and really embarrassed.

the responses are predominantly she’s done nothing wrong. Yet when a man has 7 pints and vomits, wife wasn’t put with him, he is a selfish arsehole and needs to seek treatment on the nhs.

Yep that’s a helluva lot on an empty stomach.
