To wonder why people who commit crime keep texting each other their Plans?

Keep seeing this. A crimes committed and police seize phones and retrieve messages.
The people involved, layout all their plans and fantasy by text or whattsapp to each other.

How do they think they will get away with it, when it's all typed out.

Why are people so thick as well as horrible? 🙄

This must be the reason for the police helicopter hovering over our garden for long minutes when I was setting up my first garden complete with mounds of earth, body bag-looking plastic flower beds, a shovel etc. I felt like waving at them but I was too worried they'll turn up at the house with machine guns so just carried on.

Sorry to be so down on a funny thread but why can’t they find the government’s WhatsApp messages?
My grandma died during covid, no funeral and I couldn’t hug my mum or see her. Bojo and his cronies were partying and laughing.
I am still bitter about it now, I know that there are thousands of people, with far sadder stories, why can’t someone do something?

I’m not up on what’s been said but if for eg boris got a new phone number would those WhatsApp messages then be lost forever? I don’t know. It’s probably corruption but it could be something like that. I suppose we would have to know how many people’s WhatsApp’s couldn’t be accessed and their given reasons to make that judgement.

It just seems very convenient.
We can catch small time crooks but not the high up people in charge - who in my opinion should be prosecuted, feels like they can get away with anything.

I think that unfortunately they are cleverer and better protected so if getting a new number does stop whatsapp messages from being recovered boris (or whoever) would know, or be advised, to do that. Or if that’s not possible then they could be protected by higher ups, people could lie for them or be bribed or blackmailed. It’s shit and unfair and I’m really sorry about your grandma.

Exactly. Small time criminals don’t have loads of very clever people behind them carefully destroying the evidence. Johnson and his shower of cunty friends do.

One of the episodes of some real life detective show I watched they pulled out a guys deleted WhatsApp messages but only because it turned out his iPhone was a fake. If it had been real they would have had a much harder time.

Thank you for your kind words, that means a lot to me. 🥰

I used to work at the Crown Prosecution Service (not as a lawyer, but my role did mean I had detailed knowledge of the facts of the prosecution case). The first thing that struck me when I worked there was that the vast majority of criminals are absolutely thick as pigshit, particularly violent ones. I think most murderers who do get away with it actually get away with it by sheer luck rather than ingenuity.

I actually think that being thick isn’t just what gets them caught. It’s also one of the factors that makes them willing to commit murder in the first place - they often have absolutely zero ability to consider consequences. They simply do not/cannot think things through properly.

Obviously there are exceptions. But a lot of them are dumber than cheese.

Also a lot of the brighter murderers are, although not stupid, just massively egotistical sociopaths who are very overconfident and end up getting caught that way.

Thanks that's a really interesting insight.

WingingItSince1973 · 16/12/2023 13:31

Obviously I'm never going to do this (my brother was murdered 17 years ago) But I do wonder how easy it would be for me a
Middle age woman, stay at home mum, not very outstanding in any way (unless you like crochet ) to commit a serious crime. If I didn't leave an obvious trail. How would the police turn their attention to me? Just a random crime. Ok so I would never do anything like that but some people are not in the slightest connected to their crimes and still get caught. I do think that many criminals who are narcs like to be caught in the end. They want the world to know about their plans they love the limelight.

Right off to delete my internet history........

youveturnedupwelldone · 16/12/2023 14:17

I often think about this, the murderers who pop to B&Q afterwards, usually the middle of the night, to buy a shovel and some bin bags and pay by card always amuse me - bonus points if they also buy a shit tonne of bleach.

I remember a story about a string of post office robberies carried out by the tallest man in Northern Ireland and his friend with a false leg.

Why did Ian Huntley come forward and say he had seen Jessica and Holly and that led to his arrest Wouldn't you keep quiet?

Also The girl on trial for Brianna Ghey it was all noted on a piece of paper in her room her plan.

Didn't her mum ever go in her room. and see it on her floor?

There was something in the news recently about a guy who got arrested for murder. He had jumped on a coach to a couple of hundred miles away but was overheard by someone whilst on the phone to someone implying he had hurt someone. Police were waiting for him when he got off the coach!

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 16/12/2023 14:44

I wonder if some people subliminally want to be caught. It's one explanation for why they leave such massively incriminating evidence just lying around.

OneTC · 16/12/2023 14:47

I like this one, international drug importer, lived on Smugglers Way in Wandsworth Grin

To wonder why people who commit crime keep texting each other their Plans?

lljkk · 15/12/2023 22:02

it's almost like criminals just aren't very clever people

To be fair it’s not just criminals; that applies to the population as a whole.

Flickersy · 16/12/2023 14:55

A significant proportion of our prison population are mentally unwell, of low IQ, or have SEN / an element of neurodiversity.

"Just thick" is a massive oversimplification.

ChateauDuMont · 16/12/2023 15:27

There was other evidence as well but this is a good example

Star's mother has a low enough IQ for it to be classed as a mental disability. I don't know about the others but in the Hobson case it would not just be down to stupidity.

HRTQueen · 16/12/2023 15:45

Because they don’t think they shall get caught it’s that simple

if they are thinking this the will cover their tracks, or try to in other ways

OhmygodDont · 16/12/2023 16:45

There’s a local lad who posts on Snapchat where he is with what his got I’ve no idea how he hasn’t been nicked yet.

Then there’s a man I went to school with who goes though multiple burner phones a week and has a rather prosperous dealing line going on. If you looked at him or his Facebook you’d never think it and I don’t mean because he sells himself as a fancy business man but more a down to earth just getting by Skater boy type that butter wouldn’t melt unless you know know him.

Theres a lot to be said for burner phones though and keeping a v small circle. Like if you wanted to disappear providing your a normal fun of the mill person, not overly rich, not hiding a baby or child with you, it wouldn’t take much careful planning to lay low long enough for the press to back off and then your fine. Its easy to disappear into the black market of cash in hand, new ids and such providing your not a braggy mc brag brag.

Don't they realise police take their phones then and there are cameras everywhere today?

Well, the girl came home after Brianna died and didn't destroy any of that evidence. She didn't sound stupid, so God knows what was going on.
