According to recent threads:

Everyone over the age of about 35 looks way younger, constantly mistaken for younger, doesn't have a line on their face yet despite never using suncream, and their nan only used bin juice on their face and smoked 80 fags a day but had beautiful skin at 103 years old.

Everyone had sex with their complete stranger dp within about 4 seconds of meeting them for the first time, their dp moved in that night and never left and they're coming up to 762 years of happy marriage now.

Everybody on here seems to earn 200k in some mysterious job that doesn't seem to exist, they can't quite explain what they do, but they worked their asses off to get to this level of seniority which involves them working 3 hours a week for 2 weeks a year.

Interested to hear any more.

It’s no biggie if your DH gets so drunk he wets the bed or pisses in a wardrobe.

And vomits all over the en-suite.

Every school is 'on its knees', 60 kids per class, zero TAs, teachers work 95 hours a week.

Droves

Everything is people ‘leaving in droves’

That loads of posters have fuck all better to do than look down on someone else.

Like you are on them?

OneForTheRoadThen · 11/12/2023 14:50

That it's normal and reasonable not to allow your partner's family to visit for 2-4 weeks after you gave birth. Your family are exempt from this of course.

Headshoulderscheeseontoast · 11/12/2023 00:26

90% of mn's hate children and don't think they should be allowed out in public disturbing adults

Quite right too.

NoNoNanette · 11/12/2023 14:51

That 'tantrum' is a verb.

NoNoNanette · 11/12/2023 14:52

That 'wants', 'needs', etc, followed by a participle is normal English (e.g. that coat wants cleaned').

Havingablast · 11/12/2023 14:53

That posters are "given the rage" rather than being angry; and anything annoying always "grinds their gears".

furtivetussling · 11/12/2023 14:57

The level of density of the general population is worryingly high.😂

Housebuyer37 · 11/12/2023 14:59

That everybody's kids are very bright and athletic. They do 6 hobbies a week, are popular and are of course on course for 9s in GCSEs and a RG uni.

Anything other than an absolutely perfectly balanced diet with no sugar is child abuse. Snacks? If kids must have snacks what's wrong with some carrot sticks.

You must go no contact with any family members that disagree with you

Fast food especially McDonalds is the devil

150k salary is not enough to live comfortably

80% of posters work for a Big 4 company

Recently, people were moaning about 'boils my piss'.

NoNoNanette · 11/12/2023 15:03

That university is an obsolete word that has been replaced by uni.

Rivalling that of mince? That was a new one on me.

I have also learnt that others have so much 'life admin', that it is listed as a complete task when comparing what OP and their spouse does.
The aforementioned life admin, also creates 'mental load' which the OP carries.

  1. That banning your mother from your house because she does your laundry is reasonable...
  2. ...but giving DC the occasional chicken nugget is heinous
  3. That the police (especialy the Met) are creeps and crooks and never to be trusted...
  4. ...but they should be called immediately you spot a cockapoo puppy within 5 miles of your home
  5. That a small pack of supermarket pate is a centrepiece for a family meal...
  6. and to never...ever...ever...dogsit in Savernake Forest.

Who actually owns the fence is very important to know.

But not as important as who owns the tree.

Choosychoice · 11/12/2023 15:17

That if a family member slightly offends you, it’s not at all
childish to go ‘no contact’ or at least ‘grey rock’ them.

That clothes are either outdoor clothes or indoor clothes, never both.

That you are insufferably smug for judging someone for eating an entire cake, yet

90% of the posters are overweight.

But definitely not banana because those are full of sugar so you may as well be lacing the cereal with cyanide 😆

Cyanide? No, not bananas - it's apples.

I learned that we should all aspire to own a Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser. The Christmas threads are wonderful but the awe and wonder of this machine is intriguing.

That is so last year!

This year it is air fryers.

StHilarion · 11/12/2023 15:28

That everyone has to much time on their hands if they can plough through all the repetitive drivel. You are either a glutton or a teeny weeny portion person. Children all have an ism are never plain naughty and also are always the bullied never the bully. And paying the bills, setting up dd and standing orders, sending greeting cards is now life admin.

Sunshinesky1981 · 11/12/2023 15:35

Everyone who finds so much as £5 on the street immediately hands it in to the police station. Those who don't are thieving scumbags and signal all what is wrong with a morally corrupt society.

That most people on mumsnet have no idea what gentle parenting entails.

Including most of the ones who think they are doing it.
