I've narrowed it down to The Only living Boy in New York by Simon and Garfunkel ( I'm obsessed with the weather forecast, only news I need)
And Raise Hell by Brandi Carlisle. Also something by Magnetic fields....Andrew in Drag probably not appropriate though...

Jealous of the angels - Donna Taggert 😢

I found that song on Facebook after my husband passed nearly 5 years ago. It always makes me cry.

If you're on FB, have a look for it with the girl as she was then called "Its_Amy." her voice is amazing.

Minniebojangles · 09/12/2023 20:45

My mum wanted The only way is up by Yazz
My brother wouldn't allow it as he hated it, but did allow her other choice
Don't fence me in

coffeetofunction · 09/12/2023 20:48

You'll never walk alone. My mother requested this for hers when I was younger to remind me that even once gone she would always be with me and I want it for the same reason.

My way because I am absolutely doing life my way and my kids will roll there eyes at me and in addition to this

End credits by chase and status

‘Ding Dong the Witch is Dead’ from The Wizard of Oz.

Margotshypotheticaldog · 09/12/2023 20:58

I do think a memorial _ funeral is terribly important and I'm sad for those who's relatives did not follow through with their wishes. Where I am from a good funeral is better than a bad wedding so I might need a few days worth of music, not just a song or two.
Particularly for my kids, I would actually like a song reminds them of me forever. Not sad, but sort of happy sad.

I think this is an excellent idea
As a type A, it's also what everyone will expect of me 😁

I agree. I have songs that will always remind me of deceased relatives and friends, some from funerals others from life with them in general but hearing the songs always makes me smile, some days it will make me cry too but always mixed emotion tears and ones I’m happy to have

Crooklodge · 09/12/2023 21:06

I have a progressive neurological condition so got a couple favourite tunes for it I feel it's time. If I love a longer steady life, I've no idea.

If I dropped dead tomorrow dh would probably pick You'll Never Walk Alone or something Celtic FC related 😂 ... I hope to God he would pick my favourite band, he wouldn't know what song though, he would ask my wee brother I think!would

our next door neighbour wants Highland Cathedral played on the pipes at the funeral, sends shivers right through me.

CookieSue222 · 09/12/2023 21:07

I'll take the rain - REM
Timshel - Mumford and Sons
I hear them all - Old Crow Medicine Show

YourWinter · 09/12/2023 21:09

I want a direct cremation. Can’t see the point of spending £££ feeding and watering people I had little but Facebook contact with in life, just for them to tell my AC how they always thought I was “lovely”. Funerals bring out the worst hypocrites.

That said, my AC are likely to send me off as they see fit, and if there was music I’d probably like Golden Slumbers but they’d choose the kind of music I detest, like Drake.

meisafairy · 09/12/2023 21:09

Nick Cave - Into my arms

calllyB · 09/12/2023 21:10
