To sneak McD's into the cinema

fr4zzledmum · 09/12/2023 16:03

Going to a tea time showing tonight - McD's is right next door to the cinema so was just going to buy DC a Happy Meal and pop it in my bag to eat when we get in there.

Cheaper than a hot dog at the cinema. I don't think it's particularly a bother smell wise, as people have nachos and hot dogs etc.

AIBU?

"Having a Happy Meal is acting like a pig?

And what would one pig out like, if not a pig?"
Absolutely not when you are eating it where you should be. But if you are putting your own and your kids own little treat night above being considerate to others , and sneaking food in, then that's quite animal like and disgusting.

Pig-out is a figure of speech, in case you didn't know...

"Animal like and disgusting" to bring a Happy Meal into a cinema.

Why are people being so completely ridiculous about this? Do you not think you can make your point if you describe the scenario accurately?

Judecb · 10/12/2023 19:36

MacDonalds food stinks. This is an incredibly antisocial thing to do!!!

*Odeon chain:

“We do not allow the following to be brought in from outside the cinema:

• Heated food
• Pungent food
• Alcoholic drinks”*

So No Vindaloo then.
Just as well we are talking about a Happy Meal.

They should probably put a sign up at least.

A Happy Meal is two out of the three.

Odeon cinema

This is the chain I was talking about earlier. When I go, I always buy a hot dog to take in with me.

Zooeyzo · 10/12/2023 19:43

I wouldn't because it's dark and the kids would complain about dropping chips. I'd get sandwiches. If it has to be macDs then maybe just nuggets and a donut.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 19:43

A Happy Meal is two out of the three.

Not in my experience it's not.

Behindyouiam · 10/12/2023 19:44

@WashItTomorrow 🤦‍♀️

They sell their own pungent heated food because it's financially better for them!!

Not because McDonalds is more offensive

To be fair, it is perhaps worse than animals - because they at least have their own etiquette or social norms, the ones that are social or group animals, at least.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 19:45

There's no signs about food at the The Odeon I sometimes visit. So I'm not that bothered about what lurks on their website. @AzureBlue99

Worse than animals, even!

I love this thread. Please don't stop.

Sorry but it's just disgusting. The smell is horrendous. Please don't inflict the smell and noise on other people.

I'm no fan of McD's, but to me it just smells like other burger-type fare.

Given that they're one of the world's most popular fast food chains, those who find the smell "horrendous" must surely be an odd minority, quite abnormal.

But it seems in today's world the majority are expected to pander to every kind of improbable abnormality, to avoid offending this or that entitled minority.

No, the ones I know, you need to eat it outside of the screening at the bar or the cafe. You can’t take it in with you.

Behindyouiam · 10/12/2023 19:49

I can't quote last comment @WashItTomorrow , but it's absolutely fucking hilarious!

You've made yourself look so crazy it's untrue.

Chill out, have a Big Mac and a McFlurry!

Behindyouiam · 10/12/2023 19:50

@WashItTomorrow for the third fucking time....

To sneak McD's into the cinema

That's where it's all gone wrong @AzureBlue99 . I know I'm talking about Cinemas where you can take food IN with you. The nachos, hot dogs etc.

Obviously at YOUR cinema all is tickety boo for you because you can't take food in.

No dry heaving etc

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 19:53

Apologies @AzureBlue99 I should have said @WashItTomorrow .

Can't remember if you do the heaving thing though.

That isn't the case for some chains such as the Odeon. I always buy a hot dog and take it in with me, they even have dipping trays for nachos so it's easier to carry them and eat them in the actual cinema.

Animals are better than humans. It's humans who have destroyed the planet. So, lets not use them as insult. You can say disgusting and humanlike.

sandyhappypeople · 10/12/2023 20:01

I’m a little late to this one, but surely the ‘hot food’ subject is a little moot.. McDonald’s is pretty much cold as soon as you hit the car park..

i was trained from a young age to sneak sweets/drinks into the cinema, it was only as a grown up that I realised you’re actually allowed to take stuff in! I still sneak it in though!

Wednesdaysotherchild · 10/12/2023 20:02

McDonalds really does smell revolting! I would be complaining to the cinema if I was sat near you tbh.

God this thread. How do people cope in life.

It's fine, it's a happy meal not a fistful of joints and a smoked fish.

This.

All chain cinemas sell hot junk food, rustling sweets and slurpy drinks....take your little Happy Meal and enjoy!

Moonwatcher1234 · 10/12/2023 20:08

Th replies here are hilarious - especially the posters fainting at the prospect - I don’t like mcd’s but people eat it in our local cinema (other burger places are also available) all the time and I have never given it a second thought. Popcorn rustling and crunching is worse!
