To sneak McD's into the cinema

fr4zzledmum · 09/12/2023 16:03

Going to a tea time showing tonight - McD's is right next door to the cinema so was just going to buy DC a Happy Meal and pop it in my bag to eat when we get in there.

Cheaper than a hot dog at the cinema. I don't think it's particularly a bother smell wise, as people have nachos and hot dogs etc.

You can take whatever you like into a cinema. Ours has a subway next to it so we often get one to take in. More recently a Burger King has popped up next to it as well so I’d imagine people take one in. Probably less rattley than than the big share bags of crisps and sweets people take and just as smelly as the nachos and hot dogs they sell.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 18:52

I'd be interested to see who on here actually does GO to the cinema.

Hesperatum · 10/12/2023 18:53

No - horrid idea. I wish people would be more thoughtful when going to the cinema: they’re either chatting, checking their phones or rustling sweets. Just go and sit quietly and enjoy the film.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 18:53

And who actually knows what a Happy Meal contains.

StaunchMomma · 10/12/2023 18:54

I wouldn't like it, to be honest.

The smell of burger and fries is very different to a hotdog, which I've never actually noticed in a cinema, in honesty.

It's like wearing PJs in a supermarket, for me. You just don't do some things.

Differentstarts · 10/12/2023 18:54

These comments. Take the mcdonalds in its fine. I hope the film isn't wonka its shite

Well I've just been to a full screen of people seeing Wonka, there's a half dozen other movies on simultaneously and that's one cinema in one town. So erm, lots of people??

Subway is about the messiest take away food you can get!

I can't believe how many people do this.

Well that's you, for one, on this thread.

Very selfish
If I had to sit through a film smelling that vile food, I’d be complaining about you!
it’s the most revolting smell ever and also I’m allergic to cheese so if it had cheese on it, it would make me il

Seriously? How do you manage on the plane? Or in a restaurant if someone else's cheese makes you i'll?

Actually lots of cinemas sell nachos with cheese. Is going to the cinema high risk?

@Bertiesmum3

Our cinema sells pizza and nachos with proper cheese on. If you're so allergic you can't be in the same room as it, I wouldn't risk going anywhere there's food

Keilagh · 10/12/2023 18:58

I wouldn’t describe McDonald’s as “smelly” 🥴 Smelly is fish curry, eggs, etc. The smell of a burger wouldn’t offend me in the slightest. How sensitive some people are.

Totally agree. There's cheese everywhere out there!

( Bold fail on my part )

And HappyMeal's are like little dry cardboard bits in a box.

No sauce, no gerkins, no onions.

DelphiniumBlue · 09/12/2023 16:10

Exactly this.
I'd prefer people smoking next to me than having to put up with the smell of McD's ( or hot dogs, or popcorn, come to that). In fact if I could find a cinema which banned all food I'd guarantee them my business.

Warwick Arts cinema nights used to. Bliss noise wise.

SnowSwan · 10/12/2023 19:06

I wouldn't even class McDonalds as hot food. It's usually stone-cold before you get out the door with it. There is a cinema in my area that brings you beer and pizza to your seat. I love it.

Kangkangbooru · 10/12/2023 19:07

Just because it's treat tea night for your kids doesn't mean you need to pig out like pigs. Have some consideration for others and set a good example for your kids. If you've got to hide it in your bag,you know what you are doing is not right! You must also be the type who'd sneak in unpaid for guests into a Premier Inn!

There’s sauce, gherkins and onions on a cheeseburger happy meal Wink

Do people have to keep stuffing themselves with smelly food whilst watching a film. It’s as bad as chattering through a film or constantly checking your phone because after all - it’s all about you!

Please don’t do it. Surely your child can survive without eating a smelly McDonalds. I certainly wouldn’t like to be sitting near you

Tell me, if you only do things that you "have to do" for survival, why do you go to the cinema at all? It's hardly necessary.

I'm sure you can live to see another day without parking yourself in front of a cinema screen, just to tut-tut at the rest of the audience.

BeanNina · 10/12/2023 19:07

I'd go for it. If people can drive others nuts with the sound of crunching popcorn, sweetie wrappers and nachos, just bring your McD's and enjoy it! :)

AzureBlue99 · 10/12/2023 19:07

I know my stalker will be straight on me, but I am on ignore mode for that poster.

However, that Subway smell is the rankest smell on the High Street. I have to rush past a Subway in the same way I rush past a Lush - both of them stinking the street out with their own eye watering brand of rank. I genuinely don't understand how somebody can place an order in one, let alone eat one. The decor is a bit state penitentiary for me too, but I digress. If I sat near someone in the cinema eating a Subway, I would have to leave. It gives me dry heaves. It's worse than McDs.

ElFupacabra · 10/12/2023 19:08

How do pigs not pig out? By nature they are pigs, are they always pigging out? Can they ever pig in?

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 19:08

Eating a Happy Meal is "pigging out like a pig."

BeanNina · 10/12/2023 19:10

@AzureBlue99 your message made me laugh, thank you!! 😹

DaftyInTheMiddle · 10/12/2023 19:11

Best cinema I’ve been to was in Texas where you can get a meal brought to you chair. It wasn’t even the food (or the delicious milkshakes) that made it special, it was the fact they were incredibly strict on audience disruption so no awful teenagers disrupting, no kids screaming, no nobheads on phones. Bliss.

Having a Happy Meal is acting like a pig?

And what would one pig out like, if not a pig?
