To sneak McD's into the cinema

fr4zzledmum · 09/12/2023 16:03

Going to a tea time showing tonight - McD's is right next door to the cinema so was just going to buy DC a Happy Meal and pop it in my bag to eat when we get in there.

Cheaper than a hot dog at the cinema. I don't think it's particularly a bother smell wise, as people have nachos and hot dogs etc.

AIBU?

The definition of normal people is in the brackets @Behindyouiam

Oh rubbish at @TheCadoganArms you gave me shit because I dared to say I'd eat in a cinema following the rules!!

You gave it the big "I'm alright Jack" and "it's all about what I want"!

Why are you backtracking?

Stand by your ridiculous convictions, it's really entertaining!

I have been pretty consistent on this thread in thinking eating smelly food at the cinema is antisocial. You were very much 'people can do what they like' which is a pretty selfish attitude when in a public area.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 17:44

small Happy Meal now on a par with an unwashed body.

Behindyouiam · 10/12/2023 17:44

@WashItTomorrow the local chains allow chips, chicken strips, pizza etc...

AzureBlue99 · 10/12/2023 17:44

Blimey you were hungry @CantFindMyMarbles

Behindyouiam · 10/12/2023 17:46

@TheCadoganArms you are trying to tell people that they can't eat within the rules. Pretty controlling in my opinion?

Are you controlling all the time?

If you don't like a business decision, then stay away! You've no grounds to complain.

KarenandFour · 10/12/2023 17:46

yanbu popcorn smells worse! Go for it .

Maybe when normal people go to the cinema (i.e those who know how to behave in public and in settings where other people need to be taken into consideration) they should carry in a can of Fabreze to spray in the direction of those stinking the place out.

And anyone who talks on the phone or to their friend, partner, child or the movie screen during the movie should have a 300 db airhorn blasted one inch from their ear for five seconds. That'll show 'em! Amirite?🙄 FFS

I can actually imagine you doing that and getting chucked out, to a round of applause.

AzureBlue99 · 10/12/2023 17:47

@sunglassesonthetable The smelly food and an unwashed body being foisted on someone who has paid to attend something is the same olfactory experience - rank

Foxy55 · 10/12/2023 17:47

Please don't do that. Not nice for the rest of the cinema.
BTW, Macs are really bad for you.

The funniest part of that is the fact that you actually think YOU fall into those brackets. 🤔😬😆

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 17:48

No, the regular chains say you can bring in food as long as it’s not hot or pungent.

No. Never, ever seen a sign for that either.

Honestly these " rules "?

felizdia · 10/12/2023 17:49

How can Macdonalds be a treat? Have you seen what goes in to it 🤢
I agree with the other comment, take snacks but go somewhere nice ie pizza afterwards.

AzureBlue99 · 10/12/2023 17:49

This is a polarising discussion it seems.

Those who know how to behave in public and those who don't.

Bertiesmum3 · 10/12/2023 17:51

Very selfish
If I had to sit through a film smelling that vile food, I’d be complaining about you!
it’s the most revolting smell ever and also I’m allergic to cheese so if it had cheese on it, it would make me ill

Lindyloomillion1 · 10/12/2023 17:51

Please don't. Revolting smell, noisy and messy. I hope I'm not sitting next to you.
And to those people who say it's totally fine, it isn't!

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 17:51

If you've put a Happy Meal ( which is the OP) on the same par as someone else's unwashed body my first instinct was correct.

You're very precious.

And those that don't understand business decisions and rules!

Don't go to the cinema, it's not good for you!
You think that everyone should think like you and they don't..... which doesn't make them wrong.

Netflix is your friend.

Precious is a kind word, bat shit crazy is more apt!

Cineworld website:

Can I bring in my own food and drink?

Cineworld have a strict NO HOT FOOD OR ALCOHOL policy. We reserve the right to refuse customers entry into the screens with hot food or alcohol bought outside the premises.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 17:54

Those who know how to behave in public and those who don't.

Totally disagree.

I'd say those who have a sense of proportion and those who are knee jerk precious.

TheCadoganArms · 10/12/2023 17:54

Having an opinion is now controlling?? Just because something is 'within the rules' does not mean you cant be considerate in your choices. I feel that smelly food in the cinema is antisocial, you think otherwise, so crack on. I do stay away from cinemas that allow this, thankfully i have an independent near me that does not flog hot food or allow takeaways in so I can enjoy the film.

applebee33 · 10/12/2023 17:55

I always take my egg and onion sambos with me to the weekly cinema trip. No one ever minds ! I make sure to clean any dropped bits , I also have a flask of tea
