To sneak McD's into the cinema

fr4zzledmum · 09/12/2023 16:03

Going to a tea time showing tonight - McD's is right next door to the cinema so was just going to buy DC a Happy Meal and pop it in my bag to eat when we get in there.

Cheaper than a hot dog at the cinema. I don't think it's particularly a bother smell wise, as people have nachos and hot dogs etc.

AIBU?

I do think society is suffering as a whole due selfishness and lack of consideration for others. I’m only 30 but rarely see the manners drilled into me as a child.

TheCadoganArms · 10/12/2023 17:08

@sunglassesonthetable

Just curious, ignoring the aromatics of McDonalds products for a moment, are there any foodstuffs that you would object to in a cinema, say someone bringing in a kebab or vindaloo curry or would you just think 'fair enough' it's allowed?

AzureBlue99 · 10/12/2023 17:18

Maybe when normal people go to the cinema (i.e those who know how to behave in public and in settings where other people need to be taken into consideration) they should carry in a can of Fabreze to spray in the direction of those stinking the place out.

Er no, home is where you eat your McDonalds in front of the TV (if that's your thing). In a cinema or theatre you show consideration to others so everyone can enjoy the performance.

Well the type of cinema that the PP (that I was replying to) wants does not exist. If you want somewhere that only abides by your rules, stay home.

I doubt there is any cinema, anywhere, that would have the rules so "everyone can enjoy the performance". But, you keep dreaming. FFS smdh🙄🙄

This thread is hilarious 🤣

Since when did McDonald’s smell bad ffs this thread has confirmed that people just like to be awkward on mumsnet because anything can cause such an ordeal 😂😂😂

Genuinely surprised you don't think it smells offensive out of context.

In a Mcds restaurant - fine.

In your car - if you want...

Anywhere else... fucking gross.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 17:21

I don't think people should be bringing big hot meals into Cinema. No. Too messy.

But I think anything on a par with what they sell already is totally fine.

And knowing the contents of a Happy Meal ( it's not a big greasy, onion, ketchup and pickle laden burger ) I think it would be totally fine to take into the cinema particularly a teatime kids film.

And no it wouldn't bother me if someone had a Happy Meal along the row. I suspect I wouldn't know. I'm not of the variety of poster who would be feeling queasy etc

There is an unholy preciousness on here if you are comparing a Vindaloo or a Kebab because someone asked about a Happy Meal. But you'd think that what was asked right from the off.

Oh god you're back.....

🤦‍♀️

You know you have been waiting for me @Behindyouiam

O

sunglassesonthetable · 10/12/2023 17:26

And @TheCadoganArms I love going to an Everyman Cinema.

Have you eaten your mung beans and sanctimony today?

Iwantmyoldnameback · 10/12/2023 17:28

But if a cinema allows food no one is breaking any rules so how are they being rude?

Because @TheCadoganArms and @AzureBlue99 don't like it!

They're the cinema police and they are soooooo much better than anyone else, so they know.

Just because the rules say you can, you shouldn't, because you might be in smell shot (but like ear shot) of them sand that's not fair on them.

30slife · 10/12/2023 17:32

Our cinemas sell spicy chicken strips, wedges, nachos, hotdogs, alcohol, ice cream etc so therefore nobody would care what anyone has. I've seen people with KFC and burger king in there. I think as long as people are considerate with drippage and remove their litter, then there isn't a problem.

AzureBlue99 · 10/12/2023 17:33

Have you lit your special Christmas Yankee Candle yet @Behindyouiam? Pigs in blankets or the Sprout Spectacular this year? Do they do a McDonald's one so you can breath in those lovely fatty aromas all day long. 🍔

Still say stinky food has no business being in a cinema or theatre, and shame on those chains who allow it. The Everyman chains are different, you know what the deal is, but regular chains should not be allowing this.

I don't like sprouts they're a vegetable!

Shame on the cinemas that sell food, oh bless you, that's so funny. It's like it's child abuse!

Get a grip!

Cineworld, Odeon, Vue all allow food so long as it's not hot or 'pungent'. McDonalds is arguably not hot by the time you've got it to the cinema but it's pungent alright.

@AzureBlue99 regular chains are allowing it, get over yourself!!

You can look before you visit, then don't go!

A lot of projection going on there, I have only stated on this thread that I think bringing smelly food into the cinema is antisocial. I'm hardly snatching food out of people's hands or dragging them out of the cinema.😆

Behindyouiam · 10/12/2023 17:39

Oh rubbish at @TheCadoganArms you gave me shit because I dared to say I'd eat in a cinema following the rules!!

You gave it the big "I'm alright Jack" and "it's all about what I want"!

Why are you backtracking?

Stand by your ridiculous convictions, it's really entertaining!

Iwantmyoldnameback · 10/12/2023 17:28

Great. So if someone in the seat next to you cracked open a tin of Swedish Surströmming (super pungent delicacy made of fermented sea herring) you would be cool with it. After all, it is not breaking any rules!

Normal people??

Please do define!

AzureBlue99 · 10/12/2023 17:41

I don't want to sit near someone eating stinking food or sit near an unwashed body. They are both the same levels of anti social behaviour.

No, the regular chains say you can bring in food as long as it’s not hot or pungent.

CantFindMyMarbles · 10/12/2023 17:42

I’ve taken a McDonalds, burger King, Chinese, pizza, Toby Carvery takeaway and Harvester takeaway in….so long as you take everything with you they don’t actually care. I always buy a drink from tbe cinema
