Which neighbour with Christmas lights is being unreasonable?

Light hearted - I won’t be slipping neighbours a note with their Christmas card!

neighbour 1: mostly blue and cool white lights with one strand of warm white on a big tree

us: cool white lights

neighbour 2: red lights

neighbour 3: new lights this year in blue, red and warm white.

I personally think the precedent on the street had already been set for cool white and neighbour 3 should have fallen in line and 1 are slightly unreasonable with their mix of warm and cool.

I hate the cool lights, warm lights are so much calmer & nicer.
Traditional colours all the way too - red, green, gold not that nasty blue

What your street really needs is an inflatable Christmas dinosaur 🦖

Our road has one! Complete with Santa hat and gift. It’s great.
I’ve noticed an increase in the number of inflatable decorations this year.

A good warm white is like a candle flame. How can you think that's grubby?

Easily.

it's nothing like a candle flame, it's just that solid, grubby off white.

it's called having different tastes and opinions.

Thank you! That's my entertainment for the next while!

Blue and cool white lights are the worst. The whole point of lights for Christmas (and other winter festivals) is to make you feel all cosy and warm. So the neighbour with red lights is the only one who's not making an error.

FoodieToo · 05/12/2023 21:20

Only warm white . That should be a rule.

Mamabear48 · 06/12/2023 12:03

Lol Scrooge

BruceAndNosh · 06/12/2023 12:07

I have cool white lights and i hate myself for it

CornishGem1975 · 06/12/2023 12:10

I think it's none of anyone else's business.

treacletoffee23 · 06/12/2023 12:19

Wrap yourself in battery operated lights and walk up and down as a protest ☃️

Amberlady · 06/12/2023 12:21

I’m for any colour you like, but no sagging please. Makes me shudder 🥴 Only neat installations should be allowed.

FuckinghellthatsUnbelievable · 06/12/2023 12:24

I prefer warm white so would have got them regardless. It’s a bit weird that you think the neighbours should follow your style choices tbh

Warm lights are nicest and i really dislike blue ones as they make me think the emergency services are coming.

This. Nothing remotely festive about blue lights.

This is MN and the policy is warm white or vintage style multi coloured only. Anything else is shameful.

This is what we have... But only because my 5-year-old picked them. They're going up this afternoon!

Umidontknow · 06/12/2023 13:20

You are the only one with just cool white lights though 🤷‍♀️

Jesus Christ (in keeping with the theme) I even put lighthearted at the very beginning. Some people really need to lighten up.

There's nothing light hearted about Christmas decorations. They test your relationship like nothing else ever will. I'm team warm white, but would have gone with multi coloured.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 06/12/2023 13:35

I dislike cold white and blue.

There's an enormous house I drive past regularly. It is absolutely gorgeous, picture perfect and probably has its own column in Homes & Gardens or Interiors magazine. Stunningly well kept landscaped gardens sloping down to the road. Except last week the lawns had sprouted an inflatable Santa and Snowman. I was shocked!

sunflowerdaisyrose · 06/12/2023 13:44

We have warm white and multi coloured! I like seeing a variety but don't like flashing near my house. Thankfully our neighbour doesn't put his blue flashing ones up any more.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 06/12/2023 15:18

Last year our road had every different combination of lights but since everyone had hung them at the same height from their gutters, it looked surprisingly cohesive and very festive

RandalsAunty · 06/12/2023 19:39

I don’t really care as long as they are tasteful. I don’t like very colourful full on displays, epilepsy triggering flashing lights or inflatables. I do agree that blue lights look like emergency vehicles and can give a fright.

What is this?

Ndhdiwntbsivnwg · 07/12/2023 08:23

I personally hate cool white light so you won’t catch me with that even if the whole town is lit up with them…

Kathryn1983 · 07/12/2023 23:14

Hate cool white and blue tinged lights warm white all the way
but you can't coordinate lights with neighbors lol
