Which neighbour with Christmas lights is being unreasonable?

Light hearted - I won’t be slipping neighbours a note with their Christmas card!

neighbour 1: mostly blue and cool white lights with one strand of warm white on a big tree

us: cool white lights

neighbour 2: red lights

neighbour 3: new lights this year in blue, red and warm white.

I personally think the precedent on the street had already been set for cool white and neighbour 3 should have fallen in line and 1 are slightly unreasonable with their mix of warm and cool.

Warm lights are nicest and i really dislike blue ones as they make me think the emergency services are coming.

Blue lights should not be part of Christmas displays! Gavel!!

This is MN and the policy is warm white or vintage style multi coloured only. Anything else is shameful.

My Christmas tree is warm and (non-LED) multicoloured. I quite like cool white outside because it looks more like snow/ice.

Maybe they think warm white is more festive. Maybe they think cool white is cold and industrial, more suited to a nightclub or for trimming the kitchen units in a drug-dealer's apartment.

clpsmum · 05/12/2023 13:01

I think everybody should have exactly what they want ffs

What your street really needs is an inflatable Christmas dinosaur 🦖

Absolutely but we don’t have room to put one out so someone else will have to take one for the street.

They are all reasonable. A bit of individuality is nice.

CointreauVersial · 05/12/2023 13:03

Mixing warm and cool white is a MAJOR design crime. These people are a danger to the neighbourhood.

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 05/12/2023 13:03

This is insane

Oh my goodness.... I had no idea that lights needed to match, were not allowed to match, had to have agreed schedules..... Mumsnet has been eye opening this week!!

THE PLANET IS BURNING ... TURN OFF THE LIGHTS AND STOP BUYING STUFF YOU DON"T NEED!!

D20 · 05/12/2023 13:07

Jesus Christ (in keeping with the theme) I even put lighthearted at the very beginning. Some people really need to lighten up.

Of course YABU! I would put up whatever I want, not what some interfering busybody tells me to. OMG! 😆

This is the most bonkers thing I’ve read today, and I’ve read the thread about the 12 days of Christmas, the one with the dog in an Easy Jet vest where the OP lied about her location, and the one where someone wanted to call their daughter Placebo. BON-KERS.

Like a mumsnet version of christmas EastEnders Grin

Maybe this would look good on your front lawn (it is a bit expensive though)!

YABU the only acceptable Christmas light colour is Warm White :)

I prefer warm lights so I think you guys should follow your neighbour :p

This. Warm white only. Cool white are horrible . You need to change your lights immediately.
A giant inflatable dinosaur would set it all off

Loving the pun 🤣

Sunshineandflipflops · 05/12/2023 13:25

I don't like cool white lights so mine are warm white. There are all sorts of lights on my road and they all make me smile. I'd rather a mixture than all one colour or not at all.

Worldgonecrazy · 05/12/2023 13:27

There is no such thing as too many lights, or too many colours. I want an inflatable dinosaur. I have the small roller skating dinosaur Christmas bauble from M&S so it would be a good match.

And what is he doing to Santa for Him to come first?

ComtesseDeSpair · 05/12/2023 12:52

The neighbours in the street next door (one of the most desirable in the postcode with the most palatial period houses) have a festive committee whereby they agree - and enforce, no word of a lie - a colour and theme for all the exterior Christmas decorations. It’s delightfully bonkers. Give it a go next year!

How do they enforce it? Full gory details please 😆

mondaytosunday · 05/12/2023 13:45

I wouldn't mix warm and cool together but if there's enough variety in the street then it all blends in!

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 05/12/2023 13:57
  1. is unreasonable for mixing warm and cool lights.
There’s a house on he main road in our village with a tree that has cool white lights on the top and warm white lights on the bottom. WTF??
