Young as in young in life.

OP posts:
Thomasina79 · 02/12/2023 18:46

Yes it’s young, but according to this I am 60 plus and considered old. I can still swim for an hour at a time though! And I make sure I don’t wear stereotype older women clothes.

diddl · 02/12/2023 18:46

Young to me as I'm 60.

Mind you I still think of myself as young!

TheCatfordCat · 02/12/2023 18:48

Now I'm in my late 40s I do. God, to be 29 again.

PinkLemons99 · 02/12/2023 18:51

Young is under 30 and old is over 80.

TheOnlyMatriarchThereIs · 02/12/2023 18:53

ish

boohooloo · 02/12/2023 18:57

Context is everything.

Is 29 old compared to 16 - yes, compared to 60 - no.

If you mean should you have your shit together; be acting like a grown up - yes!

Not even going there with the housing crisis, but so many late twenties that live at home - that I know - are like 16 year olds. Maybe a product of being parented for so long.

Gillypie23 · 02/12/2023 18:57

It's an age. Just an number. Who cares.

Jeannie88 · 02/12/2023 18:58

Oh yes, very young! X

Tiiredofthiss · 02/12/2023 19:01

In the context of a whole life, it's young. In the context of getting married and having children, I don't it's young. Nobody would say "God 29 is young to be doing (any adult life event before retirement)"

Young up to 30
middle 30-65
old 65 plus
maybe

30-60 ish seems too big a category. I think early 30s is still development or a transition period. Maybe 40-65 is middle for me. Then 65-75. After 75 it very much depends on the individual. Some 80 year olds are smart and fit and adaptable still. Some are very old. Mentally and physically.

MissBuffyAnneSummers · 02/12/2023 21:10

Yea but when I was 13 I thought 29 was ancient.

This will always be viewed through then lend if your own current age.

emmetgirl · 02/12/2023 21:25

Yes. I'm 57 so it's practically still a child to me

HamBone · 02/12/2023 21:27

Ponoka7 · 02/12/2023 18:24

Young adult 22-26.
Full adult 27-40
Middle aged 40-60
Older adult 60-75
Aged 75+

My youngest turned 26 and as far as I'm concerned my children are now all proper adults. It depends under what circumstances.

That sounds about right to be, @Ponoka7 . I wouldn’t view 29 as a young adult, they’re an “full adult.”

Nineteendays · 02/12/2023 21:29

I’m 37 so don’t see it as mega young. But I guess I will when Im 47. When I was 14, 24 seemed so old, now it seems young. It’s all relative.

im also sure there’s been posts just like this one before

keye · 02/12/2023 21:30

I have read this same question so many times before, so I don't know about the age but the question is getting old

DragonflyLady · 02/12/2023 21:33

Yes, 29 is young.

Ocani · 02/12/2023 21:33

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 02/12/2023 18:02

Old is 80 plus to me.

LOL. 80 is average life expectancy in the UK.

LaurieStrode · 02/12/2023 21:33

Very young.

FreshWinterMorning · 02/12/2023 21:34

Well.. yeah.

Fionaville · 02/12/2023 21:35

I'm in my 40s. 29 year olds seem to be younger by the year to me. They seem a bit of a immature generation with strange outlooks (obviously not all of then) But then I'm sure every generation has felt the same way about the younger one.

Ocani · 02/12/2023 21:37

Ponoka7 · 02/12/2023 18:24

I'd agree with this. No way does middle age run to 65.

You can be fit/not or healthy/not at any age, but you've been alive as long as you've been alive and chances are you'll be dead by 80. If you're 15 years off that you're not "middle aged".

Lampzade · 02/12/2023 21:41

GenZer · 02/12/2023 18:34

I’m early 20s. To me it’s something like

16-21 very young
22-29 younger adult
30-44 adult
45-65 middle aged adult
66-79 older adult
80+ elderly
90+ very elderly

This is what I think

AvengedQuince · 02/12/2023 21:41

I'm 40 and I'd say

18-25 young adult
25-45 adult
45-65 middle aged
65-80 older adult
80+ elderly
90+ very elderly

Lemsipper · 02/12/2023 21:43

It’s so relative…

I remember being 16 and thinking my friends 21 year old sister was old.

Now I think 29 til about 40 is young :-)

Ocani · 02/12/2023 21:46

I know I keep saying it but people don't seem to realise that 80+ = dead, most likely.
