Young as in young in life.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 02/12/2023 18:19

I can’t tell the difference between 50-ish and 60-ish. Look about the same to me.

StoatofDisarray · 02/12/2023 18:21

Just started adulthood for me (c.27), so yes (I'm 56).

theduchessofspork · 02/12/2023 18:22

Whattheflipflap · 02/12/2023 18:00

Young up to 30
middle 30-65
old 65 plus
maybe

Something like this

So yes

RaininSummer · 02/12/2023 18:24

Yes 29 is pretty young but old enough to be making proper adult decisions. As a 61 year old I don't consider 60 old really. Still working full time and still a while to pension age. Maybe 70 old and 80 plus elderly.

Ponoka7 · 02/12/2023 18:24

Young adult 22-26.
Full adult 27-40
Middle aged 40-60
Older adult 60-75
Aged 75+

My youngest turned 26 and as far as I'm concerned my children are now all proper adults. It depends under what circumstances.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 02/12/2023 18:25

Yes. I would say anything under 35 is young.

35- 67ish is middle.

68+ is starting to get old in my book.

Rainbowshit · 02/12/2023 18:25

Yes

CuttingMeOpenthenHealingMeFine · 02/12/2023 18:25

Well it depends on the context. I’m 40 so yes, in comparison to my age, I would say 29 is young.

However I, and many people I knew, had kids at 29 so it isn’t young as in ‘too young’ for responsibilities etc.

Young as in young in life.

Well yes it is Young but young for what? I have children older than 29 by not much but they have proper adult lives .

VisionsOfSplendour · 02/12/2023 18:26

How many times do you need to start theae stupid threads?

HuntingoftheSnark · 02/12/2023 18:28

I think 29 is young but it's all relative. My mother is 93, lives totally independently and it's difficult to see her as "old" even though logically I accept that she is.

OnlyFannys · 02/12/2023 18:31

Gwenhwyfar · 02/12/2023 18:16

I wouldn't say a 30 year old is middle aged.
Neither is a 60-65 year old - they have a right to a free bus pass because they are old and for much of my life women retired at 60.

Yes I know what you mean about over 30 not being middle aged, I'm 37 and think of myself as "somewhere in the middle" but perhaps the PP category of "full adult" is more appropriate (even though I rarely feel like a full adult)

GenZer · 02/12/2023 18:34

I’m early 20s. To me it’s something like

16-21 very young
22-29 younger adult
30-44 adult
45-65 middle aged adult
66-79 older adult
80+ elderly
90+ very elderly

MargaritaThyme · 02/12/2023 18:35

Depends on the person, obv, but for today’s university graduates who are establishing themselves in their careers, living in rented accommodation, aren’t married & don’t have kids, I would say yes they are young at 29.

But times change. My mum left school at 16, went straight into FT work, married at 20 and by 29 had 3 children, two of which were of school age and a mortgage. I certainly wouldn’t have described her as ‘young’ at 29.

GuitarGeorgina · 02/12/2023 18:36

Yes

I endorse this message.

MereDintofPandiculation · 02/12/2023 18:38

Guavafish1 · 02/12/2023 17:58

yes

old is over 85

So most people never get old?

FinghateXmasThisYr · 02/12/2023 18:40

@Whattheflipflap · Today 18:00

Young up to 30
middle 30-65
old 65 plus

No, there is definitely a missing bracket inbetween Young & middle here, no way should a 30yr old be grouped with somebody in their 60s!!

OnlyFannys · 02/12/2023 18:31

Well I could accept over 35 as potentially middle aged, even though I'd say it starts at 40 really. 70 is the age or promise in the Bible so 35 is half that.

Gwenhwyfar · 02/12/2023 18:41

MereDintofPandiculation · 02/12/2023 18:38

Yes, that's ridiculous.

DuesToTheDirt · 02/12/2023 18:42

GenZer · 02/12/2023 18:34

I’m early 20s. To me it’s something like

16-21 very young
22-29 younger adult
30-44 adult
45-65 middle aged adult
66-79 older adult
80+ elderly
90+ very elderly

Best yet. However, I'd say that post-65 there is a lot of variability. Some I'd class as old already due to poor health and these peope might seem elderly at 70-75. Whereas my MIL at 85 doesn't seem "elderly" at all.

AgnesX · 02/12/2023 18:42

Not especially. Old enough to have more than 2 brains to rub together and to use them.

Gwenhwyfar · 02/12/2023 18:44

"30-44 adult
45-65 middle aged adult"

Nah. You're definitely middle aged at 40 and everyone over 18 is an adult.

"66-79 older adult"

And yet a 50 year old is also an older adult.

Nevermind31 · 02/12/2023 18:45

Yes… unless you are a teenager, then 29 is ancient- obviously

Timetogosouth · 02/12/2023 18:45

I got divorced at 29 and felt that that was the age I truly felt grown up . Now 20 years later I think mid 30s is still young
