To think Vinted is as dodgy as hell?

I had to complain about an item that didn’t arrive. The courier said it had and vinted sided with them.
That was 2 months ago.
Today I discover that they have blocked me forever as apparently I have multiple accounts with them- which I don’t.
Strangely this block happened at the time I was complaining about their shitty customer service .
let’s get Sherlock in on this one 🤔

Cant agree, sorry.

I've only once had an issue when an item didn't arrive and they sorted it within about 3 weeks with the refund hitting my account no bother

I actually love vinted. My BIL and SIL did have some issues with their account being blocked because vinted said they had multiple accounts, but I've only ever had good dealings with them.

vickibee · 02/12/2023 13:13

I posted an item that did arrive , the buyer said it was fake which it wasn’t . I believe it was a ploy to keep the item for free.
this is the only issue I’ve had I only buy from highly rated sellers

BumbleNova · 02/12/2023 13:14

Don't agree either! I've happily bought and sold hundreds of items without any issues at all.

CharityShopChic · 02/12/2023 13:19

The platform isn't dodgy. Some of the people who sell through it, by law of averages, will be.

Intriguedbythis · 02/12/2023 13:19

My relative stole items of mine and sold them on Vinted and when I made an account to inform buyers that they were stolen goods / ask what they had bought Vinted told ME off and blocked my account for having my stolen items sold on there.
They didn’t care that 000s £ worth of items stolen from me were sold on their platform

I mean that's not really Vinted's issue is it. Also intrigued how would you know who the buyers were if it was your relatives account? Did you just message random people?

tachycardigan · 02/12/2023 13:25

I just don’t trust Vinted for selling. I did list a couple of items and people did offer quite high amounts but I couldn’t bring myself to sell it.

Instead I sell on eBay where it costs me just £1 to sell something for £27.

Valeriesknickknacks · 02/12/2023 13:27

Could it be that there are lots of people with similar usernames and that's why they think you have duplicate accounts?
I think it's part and parcel of every selling platform that there will be some bad sellers and some scam buyers as well, and unfortunately not every decision made about a dispute will reflect the reality of what happened, only what they decide based on the information available of the most likely outcome. I'm sorry in this instance you have fallen foul of that process.

NoTango · 02/12/2023 13:58

I've had no problems with Vinted at all, buying or selling. I've made over £100 recently, which has been a godsend for Christmas, with zero issues.

39and · 02/12/2023 14:01

I don't think it's dodgy at all. They are quick to take bogus sellers items down. It's easy to sell and the fees are payable by the buyer and not confusing like eBay. Sometimes people offer pisstake amounts but they're easily ignored

BigButtons · 02/12/2023 14:02

I don’t even know how to contact them to say I only have one account and ask them what is going on🤷🏻‍♀️

Beezknees · 02/12/2023 14:03

I've only ever sold on there so can't comment as a buyer but all my experiences have been positive.

Kta7 · 02/12/2023 14:05

I had a bit of a nightmare with an InPost locker mixup (this seems to be a common issue, with varying degrees of helpful response from Vinted). My buyer got the wrong item (and a refund) and neither InPost nor Vinted would take responsibility, which was infuriating. So I took Vinted to the small claims court on principle and won. If you’re feeling as petty as me you could try this?

fyn · 02/12/2023 14:22

You can email [email protected]

MrsBigTed · 02/12/2023 14:30

I've never bought or sold anything on there worth more than £10, so it's a gamble I'm willing to take. No issues so far though, amd I must have 50ish transactions.

yarnwitch · 02/12/2023 16:58

I've had a few different issues as a buyer and Vinted have always been good at refunding me without hassle.
The only thing that was strange was they wouldn't let me list two identical, but different sized, items of clothing as apparently they don't allow duplicate listings. They removed one almost immediately along with quite a snotty message.
I don't think they are dodgy but they do seem to have some strange policies.

ActDottie · 02/12/2023 17:13

Can’t agree always had good experience with Vinted.

Requested a refund a couple of times because:

  • sender didn’t send it in time
  • item never arrived
both times got a full refund. No issues.
Intriguedbythis · 02/12/2023 17:15

@vivi8 i wrote to the people who had written them ( relative) a review. You cannot see what they bought but you could see they had written a review. As I needed to know what was sold, I wrote to ask to the customers explaining and asking them to plead enlighten me ( most people were very kind and answered me).

You are absolutely right, it’s not Vinted fault that the person stole and sold my things. HOWEVER they did not express sympathy/ help/ or take down stolen items ( thousands in value) so I had to get my own evidence and then speak to the relative to solve it.. they even blocked my account for writing to people that unwittingly bought my stolen items ( written very politely and offering proof of receipts etc) which I found ridiculous.

considering a platform like that risks handling stolen goods they should have some kind of fraud team or support.

tillstilly · 02/12/2023 17:17

Vinted can take their time with refunds, and occasional buyer has sent something not as described, but it's all been sorted out. Whatever it's faults it's better than EBay where I've been scammed as a buyer and seller. As a buyer buying a specialist, antique item, and another made to measure - I lost money.

As a seller even worse. I had a buyer lie that something wasn't new (I had to phone EBay to counter claim) and another hairy moment where I sent something through global shipping, so I sent recorded to the eBay shipping centre and they take over responsibility of shipping from that point. They tried to hold me responsible for some shipping within America and made me fill in the claim form. I had to call them again - and I managed to resolve it. I had a thread here about it where others had similar experience. And EBay charge sellers commission, unlike Vinted.

dutysuite · 02/12/2023 18:06

I’ve only had one issue where someone tried to resell an item I sold
to them for three times the amount which is classed as commercial selling, I reported it to Vinted and they removed the item. I wouldn’t have minded but the woman sold me a sob story about not being able to afford the item and she desperately needed it for her child so I reduced the item…I’m extra cautious now and won’t accept offers.

After a locker mix up I now stick a post it note with the order reference number and name of the customer on it, so if the collection person opens more than one locker at a time they can still see who the parcel is for.

autienotnaughty · 02/12/2023 19:04

I use it to buy and sell on a small scale (£10 or below) I wouldn't trust it for more valuable things

I had exactly the esame thing happen to me the first (and so far, only) time I sold on Vinted. Got a sob story, so reduced the item which was a bargain price anyway because I wanted to get my first sale out of the way. Put a nice card in the parcel saying ' Thanks for being my first buyer' etc and then the day after the buyer bloody listed it for over double the price I was initially selling it for.

What are the commercial selling rules?

justjuggling · 03/12/2023 02:53

my experiences with Vinted have been generally poor so I don’t use the site now. Deleted the app!
