To think Vinted is as dodgy as hell?

I had to complain about an item that didn’t arrive. The courier said it had and vinted sided with them.
That was 2 months ago.
Today I discover that they have blocked me forever as apparently I have multiple accounts with them- which I don’t.
Strangely this block happened at the time I was complaining about their shitty customer service .
let’s get Sherlock in on this one 🤔

I’ve recently bought loads of clothes through Vinted. All fine, once the seller didn’t post the item and i automatically got a refund.

Please can some one help oap friend recently started selling on vinted tried to get money out into bank and it’s not happening ( they not allowing ) is anyone able to speak to me private message so I can explain to them about what has happened to her, getting no where with vinted thank you

Do you mean your friend wanted a Vinted refund but couldn’t get one?
Or your friend unfortunately gave a direct bank transfer to someone and Vinted refused to get involved?

truetruebarneymcgrew · 03/12/2023 09:21

I don't know about vinted, but more recently I've had couriers (looking at you Evri) say item has been delivered and it hasn't. They don't provide a photo or signature, so it becomes your word against the courier. It's impossible to prove the item wasn't delivered If the tracking information shows as delivered then it's nigh on impossible to get a refund. I think photos (and a proper photo, not a random bit of tarmac) or signature should have to be provided.

NYCvibing no love she wants to put the money she made into her bank account but it’s not letting her. Saying they need verification of who she is driving licence or passport she is iLL lady and has neither, they won’t tell her what other things she could show them to verify it is indeed her account

Hopefully someone with more knowledge of the inner workings of Vinted will come along and help us with how to deal with their complaints system. In the meantime…

Try phone snapping her birth certificate, medical card, a recent bill with her name and address on it.

If still no joy, phone her local citizens advice bureau, they will certainly help:

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/

You may also want to contact the Age UK charity for this and other similar issues that may come up in the future:

Good luck and bless you for helping your elder person. Let us know how it turns out.

I use it all the time. Never had any issues. Refunds and returns speedy and simple

sweetpickle23 · 03/12/2023 09:37

I don’t think she can verify another way @HappyMe6- Vinted sometimes do additional verification checks for new bank accounts and this is what they ask for.

However it doesn’t look like you’ll be able to receive money until this is verified- are you saying she has sold something and sent the item?

Is it possible that she gives them your bank details instead, and then you provide identification, then simply transfer her the money?

I think this could do with its own thread so more people see it and can offer help. Please do put in the title that your are trying to help an elder person have funds released to them from Vinted.

incoming funds are first lodged against a ‘pending balance’
This does not become available until the items tracking shows that it has been sent, delivered and either acknowledged by the buyer or two days have passed after receipt.

If one of the courier methods was selected by the buyer and your friend used that label then the tracking etc will be automated
If Royal Mail was used with your friend buying the postage then they need to manually enter the tracking reference otherwise the Vinted system cannot see that the item was sent / received

The status of a delivery can be checked via the ‘inbox’ against the item

Once the Vinted system has processed the full delivery and cleared the funds they move in to the ‘available balance’

Next check the bank account details are fully completed and valid - choose:
Profile, settings, payments and ensure that both the payment and withdrawal sections are complete (it’s withdrawal that is currently relevant)

Once the account details have been checked and the amount is showing as available then choose:
Profile, balance, withdraw to bank account

This will also take time to clear, with Vinted taking two days plus the bank may or may not take extra time to clear as available in the bank

tommica yes that’s right she knows all that it’s the fact vinted want a passport or driving licence to verify who she says she is, before they will send it over to her bank account, also she is up to her limit in selling and wants to take the items off vinted till she knows what she can send them for her ID so they know it’s her, she can’t freeze her account she doesn’t know how to she doesn’t want to carry on selling until this is sorted and she can prove who she is

HappyMe6 · 03/12/2023 11:47

Yes she’s sold on vinted , just can’t provide passport or driving licence. Does anyone have the contact number for vinted and I can speak on her behalf or email address for them please.

HappyMe6 · 03/12/2023 11:48

Thank you love, I will do as you have advised to get her out of this mess

IndecentFeminist · 03/12/2023 11:49

I love Vinted, spend an inordinate amount of time browsing

Holly60 · 03/12/2023 11:55

No Vinted is great!

General support is directed to the chat systems, but an email address is given for the legal requirements.
Also note that Vinted payments and the verification process are with MangoPay

I tried to email vinted legal but was told I couldn’t as they had already blocked me.

Got a message back from vinted saying they have looked into it and there are 2 further email address linked to me account. I have never heard of them. They say also that I have sold counterfeit goods. I have never sold anything on vinted.
has my account been hacked?

OP posts:
BigButtons · 03/12/2023 15:24

It’s resolved. They said they had made a mistake and have unblocked me. Not sure I dare use it again after the lost parcel debacle. But at least my good name is cleared 😂

I now buy all my t shirts, tops and blouses on Vinted BNWT and once " very good used" where the sellers description didn't match mine!
I'd never buy an expensive item though

daffodilandtulip · 03/12/2023 16:09

I've brought and sold loads and only had one issue. She tried to claim a new item was faded and holey but refused to send it back, just wanted a refund. Vinted supported me.
I've had more trouble with the shops that you collect from tbh. Refusing to look for the item, making you wait while they serve "real customers" and not finding stuff that has been delivered to them.

User136921 · 03/12/2023 16:17

It's ok for very cheap stuff, bit like eBay really, I wouldn't buy anything expensive from either. I don't sell on either platform, it's easier to just give to charity bag or shop

vivainsomnia · 03/12/2023 16:17

Twice I had items not arriving. In both instances, that was with proof of postings.

Both times Vinted paid me back immediately. The only problem is that immediately is quite a number of weeks after the order, so a bit annoying when it's obvious after 2 weeks that it's not going to arrive!

Ourshoddyhouse · 03/12/2023 16:19

@HappyMe6 Vinted has a forum, you could try asking there for help/if there are other forms of ID accepted

BigButtons · 03/12/2023 16:32

I am actually thinking of buying a jumper BUT the only option is to have it delivered to a locker. Don’t they deliver to your house any more?
